Renard Gives Sakala A Chance

Striker Enock Sakala made an immediate impact today upon arrivial in the Zambia camp after his shock call-up for the squad’s Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup duty.

The erratic Zesco United striker who scored six Orange Caf Champions League goals for his club in this year’s competition scored a brace just hours after arriving in camp in Lusaka during a training game against Green Buffaloes.

Zambia won the game 3-1 at Independence Stadium as they wind-up training camp prior to departure for Zimbabwe on Friday by road ahead of Sundays Cosafa Cup quarterfinal match against Namibia at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Sakala is one of two late call-ups to the team by Herve Renard for the Cosafa training camp including Power Dynamos midfielder Luka Lungu.

Renard had earlier snubbed Sakala saying the striker was not ready to play at a higher level other than Zesco.

Should Sakala make the final 20-member team to be released prior to departure, he will be under pressure to make an impact on Sunday as Zambia hope to avoid an early exit from the Cosafa tournament following their recent dismal showing the 2010 qualifiers.

  1. I agree with you #1, that’s all we need, GOALS! Not this crap of we “played well but could not convert those chances…blah blah” We don’t mind them putting up a poor perfomance as long as they score.

Oh and it seems ba post nabachinja ka face ka? I think ba LT have waken them up.

  2. we definately need goals but enock sakala cant give us the goals we need, this is more like try and error by our coach, may be somethng good can come out of him,but i doubt, 4 sitali, he can perform.

  3. Zambia was really a good team years ago but now it breaks my heart to watch games. I wouldn’t want to die from heart attach coz of their constant failures. I hope they do well we really need goals not good performance. # 1 you are right

  4. i think enock will prove to be a good goal getter as long as the midfield can supply him with the chances, he has been tested on occassions without the right midfield so lets hope he has a better supply this time,

  5. It iz the ultimate dezire of every player in the country to play for the national team. And a call up to wear the Zambian jerzey should not come az a surprize to any determined and hard working player. The coach iz not doing anybody a favour or indeed “giving a chance” when he summons a player for national duty, but simply perfecting hiz arsenalz.

  6. Goals are all we need you are right Chama. Stop picking players becoz babosha, it’s killing our football. Pick them on merit. I hope Kalu reads this. Administration to some extent has damaged our soccer..

  7. Lets try new blood and stop playing FAT players like Mbesuma based on there passed glory. The last game he played for Moroka Swallows, you would think he was and overgrown defender… He was so disappointing such that he did not feature in last nights (wednesday) game.

  8. Renard needs to get sacked. Kalusha Bwalya should have nothing to do with football in zambia apart from making appearances. The guy is useless. we need a better manager than Renard. he has disgraced zambian football.
