Coach Herve Renard is a relieved man following Sundays late 1-0 win over Namibia at Rufaro Stadium in a match that saw very little hope that the spectre of Zambia’s poor attacking form will go away anytime soon.
After a blistering and dramatic 1-0 win over Namibia on Sunday, Zambia take on Mozambique on Thursday , October 29 in Bulawayo for a place in Sundays final of this years Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup.
Zanaco midfielder Henry Banda’s missed penalty in the second half was the epitome of Zambia’s malaise in front of goal.
Furthermore Strikers Felix Sunzu and Enock Sakala did little to give Zambia hope of a solution to the team’s poor prolific form.
However, Renard knows he has little options and should stick to his towering duo in a gamble to keep Zambia on cause for a place in Sundays final at Rufaro.
One change that is certain to come will see Allan Mukuka start from the right side of midfield after an eye-catching display when he came on as a substitute late in the match.
Hopefully should Mukaka start, one hopes there will be some added quality in a midfield that was fraught with breakdowns going on the offensive.
finals will be between zambia and south africa.south ll win.
Why keep that expensive coack when we have no strikers as and he has done little to improve the attacking short falls?
Congratulations Zambia. Go Zambia GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iyeeeee Chipolopolo.
I think we should stick with HR for a couple of years. He is doing quite well I think despite the negativity. He is picking the line-ups that we have all being crying for and he is giving everybody a shot. He also regularly monitors players abroad and is a regular at local games. One has to admit that he is more involved in Zambian football than any of our previous coaches. The COSAFA tournament I thought was always good for internationally inexperienced players to get some kind of exposure. As we can see, it is paying off and I think it can only improve the quality of our players in the long run.
on another note… LT.. who are your editors? someone should be fired. A lot of your articles are poorly written and it takes away the proffesionalism
hr is a good coach only that most zambians are racest they keep on pick him and say he shud be fired. the guy is doig all that zed need to improve and as a fun and a zambian i have seen some improvement in national team soccer. this guy needs a lot of support to make the team very good and excellent. we shud tell our players that even though some of them are older than him, he deserves respect and his orders to be followed. whenever, he meeds them they shud go by his command and if they don’t wany to follow his commands coz his the coach. let them go where ever they want to go and never come back to zambia. to make it worse they shud never call themselves zambians again. if i become a zambian player one day am going to everyone on my team the facts about soccer and the coaches.
this article is being very negative about our team. i have seen the quality of football at this competition and its pathetic all round. lets give our team a chance to grow. well done zambia.
when is our team going to grow?
HR would be ok if we had a breed of strikers who KNOW what to do in front of goal and mid-fielders who TAKE charge. unfortunately all we have for now are mbesumas.. (gong’as) who need a lot of polishing if not a call to go make new strikers. Apparently, Poulsen gave a very good indication of what he came for…. change the system (4-4-2 to 3-5-2) which i am yet to see in HR. The guys need Outward Bound stints to give em stamina …. for now keep HR but he must be given games to play the boys not assembling a squad hours before a game and you expect miracles.. just how do we improve on our rankings when we never play competitive games and the one we try end up with poached (non-footballers) people… back to the drawing board …
We have a problem with scoring. It will take sometime for the nation to find a prolific striker. For now we can do with what is available. Watching our team in action against Namibia, it was like primary soccer match.
i watched the entire game our boys dominated ,played well but luck was not on our side.or maybe we should change the name from chipolopolo to chikolopelo.
Zambia’s performance is good and a Africa Cup tournament without Zambia is regretable. Africa awaits the Chipolopolo boys in Angola. Wonderful team and skillful players. But we need to build better standia for soccer and invest more unlike telling off Chipolopolo boys. The game with Nambia was splendid and that just show how Chipolopolo are respected. Keep it boys and Renard goes nowhere, he stays.
The game was wonderful only that “dear lady laucky “was not with us. We dominated play, especially the first 30 mins. We could harvested and an avalanche of goals. HR is on track. Chibuku/Tujilijili drinking has killed the players. Only if there colud be somer fraction of discipline among the players. Wait and see we shall be crowned as COSAFA champions and we are going to Luanda.
we need to change FAZ admin and address grassroot football if we are to improve the standard of our game
I wonder why some talented players are not selected in our national Team.Any one who watches our Faz kcm league will agree with me that Lotie Phiri From Zesco And Joseph sitali from power dynamos deserves to be at the Cosafa in Zimbabwe. These guys have skills
