The Zambia Soccer Fans Association (ZAVOSOFA) says this weekend’s game between Zambia and Rwanda in Kigali is a ‘must win’ for Zambia.

ZAVOSOFA Patron Peter Makembo said this weekend’s game was the only hope for the team to qualify to the Africa cup in Angola next year.

Makembo said the Chipolopolo boys should be defensive in their play and not allow any goal despite Rwanda having an advantage of home ground.

He advised the team to be focused and not take Rwanda for granted because it is also fighting to qualify to the Africa cup of nations tournament.

Meanwhile, Makembo has disclosed that a sum of K10 billion has been donated by some companies towards this weekend’s encounter between the two teams.

Makembo named some of the companies that have donated the money as MTN Zambia and Zain Zambia among others.

He stressed that the money was given to the President Rupiah Banda.

Makembo appealed to the President to share the money equally between the soccer fans and the national team because the team needs soccer fans.

He also requested Mr. Banda to pay for the chartered plane that would ferry supporters to Rwanda.

  1. I wonder if the Chipolopolo Boys prepared adquately for the Rwanda game. It appears we dont learn. Pastor makembo is talking of some business houses donating K10Billion through the Head of State. That is good news. The boys should have been told in advance that if you qualify there is may be K2Billion on the table for all of you. This could motivate the boys. Look at the Pharols they were promised US$300,000 if they beat Algeria and qualifty to FIFA South Africa 2010 World Cup. Why do we do things in secrecy. There is a problem at Football House.

  2. Great Galu must go…am told he is in Mexico for what? when his team is in a crucial game..he did the same when we played Egypt at Konkola, instead of being there in person he was busy analysing european soccer on superspot..its like this guys heart is elsewhere..TUMUPATIKISHA FYE..He is better at european soccer analysis when he doesnt even know the line-up of players at Zesco,Nkana or Choma Eagles & we call him our president..ALETWANGASHA GALU UYU..He MUST go together with his physical trainers before we face more embarrasment in Kigali,,mark my words.

  3. hahaha! kwena, you are a nation of entertainers! Every game Zambia has played since 1994 has been a ‘must-win’, ‘do-or-die’ or ‘crucial’. Only in Zambia do you have a mathematical chance of winning a friendly match!

  4. This guy called Pastor Makembo never cease to amaze me! What sort of a pastor is he and which church does he belong to. He is inconsistent and often contradicts himself. At one time there was news that a certain Algerian club wanted to hire Renard, and he came out pleading for Renard to reject the offer and stick with Zambia & continue with his good work for Zambia. When we failed to make it to SA he demanded that Renard be fired and that his organisation was against engaging a foreign coach from the word go.Forgetting that he too, is a foreigner.Hopeless pastor!
