President Rupiah Banda holds talks with Gaddafi and Debie

President Rupiah Banda this afternoon held joint talks with his Libyan counterpart Muammar Gaddafi and Chadian president Idris Debie in the Libyan capital Tripoli.

The talks which lasted about one hour were held in a tent in the heart of Tripoli where host president Gaddafi received President Banda and president Debie.

Zambia’s ambassador to Libya Mulondwe Muzungu later told ZANIS in an interview that the three presidents had warm exchanges on a variety of issues.

He said president Banda and President Gaddafi were due to hold bilateral talks later this evening.

Earlier on arrival at Tripoli international airport at 14:50 hours, President Banda, was received by Libyan foreign affairs minister Mousa Kousa, Zambia’s ambassador to Libya Mulondwe Muzungu and other Zambian and Libyan government officials.

The president is accompanied by First Lady Thandiwe, agriculture minister Brian Chituwo and the president’s special assistant for economy and press and public relations Dr Richard Chembe and Dickson Jere respectively.

President Banda leaves Libya for Rome, Italy, tomorrow to attend the United Nations World Summit on Food Security which opens on Monday, November 16th and closes on Wednesday, November 18th.

  1. Just what did they talk about and what do I care, what are you reporting on if you dont have details of what they were talking about

  2. Akulu Mphuno wanatemelela kabodo kagalu.

  3. Watch in time.
When Something in Zambia has been reported to have been sold to Libya you will know the day the deal was done.
Fair guess is Zambia has given land to Libya and thats why Chituwo is there.

  4. Ghadaffi, a very evil individual that wanted to invad Mali. Since when did we make this Arab terrorist a bilateral partner, we are better dealing with Kim Jong from north Korea at the least he would help us develop a nuclear sub for lake tanganyika to keep an eye on the nyamulenge of Rwanda. Why not further our relations with Japan the most technologically advanced nation on the planet. Sell them land, the do not have breeding tendencies like the chinese. Vinangu wintu ungadabwe.

  5. # 4 you are right vinangu vintu unga dabwe ta! Why do we waste time with people like King Muswati and Ghadaffi? Lets shift our attention to countries that matter like Japan, Russia China (though we need to be careful with the ching chos) Do you hear Obama ever mentioning Zambia? Thats because we don’t matter to the U.S. Sometimes i wonder why we have embassy’s when our chief ambassador is Rupiah Banda and his young wife. A presidents job is to be ‘selfish for his/her country’ he/she needs to think of whats important for his/her country first and not to compromise all the time.
And on a different note, you always identify stories carried out in the Zambian media by some ‘all weather words and phrases’ like MALICE, COUNTERPART, TARNISH THE PRESIDENTS IMAGE…. AND MANY MORE. ..LOL

  6. Honestly does this man has advisers, there is a critical shortage of fuel and a lot of problems that need an urgent attention, but alas he is always on the move.Do not sale zamt,,, to these pipo.

  7. I can see unwarranted blind support for Gaddafi’s wired dreams from Zambia in AU in return for 5 unsustainable re conditioned tractors. we must stop this rot.

  8. Watching Gadahfy’s speech at the UN last month, I swear one does not need to be a psychiatrist to figure out that the bedouin is a mental case. The question many people. especially in Zambia are asking for is just what the hell is Banda up to cozying around with this terrorist “galu ya chiwewe?” (mad dog). His association too with another senile and vile African political relic, Sekuru Mugabe. that’s rattling feathers around. Mugabe even had the audacity to call Kanitundila “my Rupiah”. Well, Banda should know that we are watching and at the polls he will pay a dear price for his wanton treachery of misguided policies.
