Zambians urged to utilize diaspora desk

Share

Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia Albert Muchanga, has called on Zambian nationals living in Ethiopia to make use of the Diaspora desk which President Rupiah Banda recently set up at State House to address the welfare of Zambians living abroad.

Mr. Muchanga said that Zambia is currently offering good investment opportunities to both Zambians and foreigners hence the need for Zambians in the Diaspora to participate.
He said the Zambian Embassy is for this reason planning for an investment sensitization seminar for the Zambian community in Ethiopia.

This is contained in a press release made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by Zambian Embassy in Ethiopia First Secretary to the Press Dorcas Chileshe.

Mr. Muchanga said the seminar will create a platform for Zambian nationals in Ethiopia to discuss various ways in which they can participate in contributing to the country’s development.

He said this in Addis Ababa at the weekend when he addressed Zambians who had met to elect new office bearers for the Zambian Association in Ethiopia

Mr. Muchanga commended the Zambian community in Ethiopia for exhibiting a strong team spirit.

  1. Mrs Stevens,

Diaspora is any movement of a population sharing common ethnic identity. Unlike refugees, the diaspora refers to a permanently relocated collective. (Like Zambians living abroad)

  2. well done mr ambasaador. If all zambias ambasaadors were proactive like you, zambia would be getting a lot of investments. Unlike some ambasaadors you even wonder if there is actually one working. Like the privious london one, ohhh my god. the man was in constant hybernation. no one at the zambian embassy knew what an investment seminar was.

  3. If you were part of the Zambian crowd addressed in Ethiopia, or live in Ethiopia or are interested in finding out more info about the Desk you will do your dundest to find the info. Ring the Zambian embassy in Ethiopia, walk, drive or bus it there!!! Get off your lazy arse and make things work instead of waiting to be spoon fed!

  4. Diaspora desk for us to contribute to Zambia’s development!? That is a big joke. RBB and his minions don’t contribute to Zambia’s development when it is their job!  But they are saying we should?

  5. #7 Ever heard of a story about what crabs do when stuck in a hole? If one crab manages to climb up half way out of the hole, the one down the bottom will get its claws into the one up so hard and pull down until both of them end up falling back into the hole…! If the 2nd crab tries to get out same thing happens. The crabs will keep doing this over and over again taking it in turns. Can you help these poor creatures get out of the hole? No? I didn’t think so. I say so because of your attitude….RB is not the only Zambian to help neither is the whole nation about RB. Get your attitude right if you want to move us forward.

  6. #2, Thanks for that. I posed this question simply because Australian/NewZealander ‘Diasporians Desk’ would/is based in Japan….what a controversy!!!

  7. hello ambassador muchanga (would have been my father-in law)
good work u doing out there but u got a serious problem back home. one of your daughters is turning into a nobody…. always drunk and opening her legs to any guy she likes

  8. This is such a good development, reminds me of another successfull desk at state house, the great vendors desk at state house! i’m a locally based Zambian, am thinkin of going abroad so that i can take advantage of this desk, since there’s no desk for locally based Zambians

  9. That’s good. Zambians desperately need a forum to present their investment plans too. They should not feel prejudiced against foreign investors.

  10. This desk is based at state house. please contact state house, it is not at the embassies. The embassy can help you get the contact info of this desk. My understanding is for Zambia looking for investment opportunities and facing any problems in the country you are living to which the embassies seem not to care. you can use it to report your problems so that they can be dealt with. hope that helps.

  11. what the hell is this diaspora desk? what is their contact telephone number or this is another waste of people’s time?

  12. People,do you read the stories or just start commenting ? This man says there is a desk at state house( not in foreign missions) to assist us in diaspora. Now, how do we access info from this desk and what exactly are they doing to assist us to invest back home. Please dont waste your time running to embassies, they wont even know what you are talking about.

  13. #20, Motsepe, correct me if am wrong but I think you were very good at reading
comprehension during your primary days. Most posters here tend to conclude from the headlines without actually reading the the whole thread. That’s my observation.

  14. I feel cynical about it. If there are “investment opportunities” for Zambians in the Diaspora, why can they not be listed, or a couple of examples given by the Ambassador? Do we have to go and beg for information at the Desk? Sounds like rubbish to me

  15. The Zambian embassies should market the investments to potential Zambian clients in diaspora. They need to convince people to invest not the other way around.
