Renard Names Cecafa Squad

Share

Herve Renard has named his final 18-man Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup team and dropped four players.

Top on the list of omissions are Zesco United defender Hichani Himoonde and 2008 Faz footballer of the year Kennedy Mudenda of Power Dynamos.

Himoonde has missed the entire period of training camp this week ahead of the teams departure for Kenya tomorrow.

The Zesco defender is currently attending trials at TP Mazembe from DR Congo.

Meanwhile, joining Mudenda and Hichani on the missing list are strikers Chipulu Chileya and Jackson Mwanza of Konkola Blades and Zesco respectively.

Meanwhile, Chinese-based striker James Chamanga is back in the team after agreeing with Faz to play at the Cecafa tournament.

Zambia are in Group A together with Ethiopia, Djibouti and hosts Kenya, the latter whom they face in their opening preliminary round pool match this Saturday in Nairobi.

Goalkeepers: Jacob Banda (Zesco United), Joshua Titma (Zanaco)
Defenders: Emmanuel Mbola (Pyunik Yerevan, Armenia), Charles Siyingwa, Thomas Nyirenda (Both Zanaco), Dennis Banda (Green Buffaloes), Percy Kisonge (Zamtel), Jimmy Chisenga (Red Arrows)

  1. the sunzu brothers were highly rated some time back…what happened…oh i no why they are in the team even thogh they are club less.Kalu WANTS TO MARKET THEM SO THAT HE CAN ALSO GET SOMETHING FROM THEIR DEALS…….WHY SHOULD WE HAVE CLUB LESS CHAPS IN THE TEAM..BE SERIOUS FAZ

  2. Well being clubless should not be an issue. You must be aware that the boys have standing contracts with clubs though they ‘walked out’. So they can only get a team after the end of the contract they signed unl;ess the club that buys them buys out their contract. It’s not that kalu wants to sale them. They boys are keeping themselves in shape by training with local teams. Their prowess is CLEARLY EVIDENT. It is not healthy to speculate and accuse others if you are short of information. Players are sold to their clubs or managers of which renard and kalu are not. LETS BE FAIR PEOPLE.

  3. apperas despite being clubless Sunzu is the most favoured player in national team. This is unfair to those players who are featuring for their clubs. There is something fishy. THis tournamant will be good for the local players to prove themselves at a higher level. I hope this team will bang in more goals and perhaps reach the final. Wish the boys and the technical bench the best as they fly to Kenya.

  4. ZANACO! No wonder, the team doezn’t go far in the Continental competitionz. Can imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth at the Sunset Stadium Club House, IF or when the team failz to win the league which waz almost on a silver plate.

  5. i dont understand why clubless players are in the team, on what grounds are they picked?if beckham who is in america and plays regularly was told to find a europian club for him to be picked for england what about these clubless chaps. Now i understand why we are always loosers.

  6. Ba Zambia, why double standards kwati muli bakali. Lelo Cosafa mailo Cecafa. So you hear no friendly games in preparation for AFCON becoz of cecafa is enough.

  7. But ma B & As alipo maningi mu team…wenangu kulibe?? Chabe ni okha okha mu team mwe…!
Kudala..Cecafa yenze yowama over nama puleya AMUSHE…oziwa kutchaya bola ngati UCAR,Chola…etc.
