First Lady Thandiwe Banda welcomes her South African counterpart Nompumelelo Zuma for the OAFLA meeting in Lusaka

First Lady Thandiwe Banda and her South African counterpart Nompumelelo Zuma today visited Kalingalinga’s Our Lady Hospice and Kabwata Orphanage to familiarize with the operations of the two institutions.

Meanwhile Mrs. Banda bemoaned the lack of information among people on government’s free antiretroviral programme in all health facilities in the country.

The First Lady noted that some people in the country are still unable to access free antiretroviral drugs despite medication being free countrywide.

She was speaking when she visited Kalingalinga’s Our Lady Hospice and Kabwata Orphanage in Lusaka today.

And speaking earlier, Our Lady Hospice Medical –In-Charge Dr. Charles Mutemba commended government for increasing the catchments area to enable more people access the treatment.

Dr. Mutemba said the Hospice receives patients from all parts of the country adding that 60 percent of the patients admitted at the centre suffer from tuberculosis.

And South African First Lady Mrs Zuma said that it is disheartening to see how children are suffering in society especially orphans due to the breakdown of the extended family system.

Mrs. Zuma praised those who are looking after orphans for showing love and care to orphans saying society should not neglect them just because they are orphans.

She said she is looking forward to the time she is going to visit the centre for the second time.

  1. Yaku ! kanshi banazuma tabaya i thot she went after thandiwe took her and bana mugabe on a boat cruise along the banks of the kafue river.

  2. It is funny that Thandiwe is not happy about the lack of information to the public about the free antiretroviral ( whatever it is) programme. The minister of information, Shikapwasha must explain his failure to inform the public followed by his sacking.

  3. Mayi Banda you are exibiting your non competence in matters of HIV/AIDS. It not that People in need of ARVs have no information that goverment is giving free ARVs. MAYI NINKANI YA access which is brought about by inadquety facilities perpetuated by your husbands poor exteem and will to implement fully health policies. How many Healthy facilities in rural areas are providing ART services? The answer is very few. How many Health Personel are trained to provide quality ART services? Again MAYI the answer is very few. Tell your husband to SALAPUKA or else just like he is going to be the first Zambian to have served half a term as Presido, you will be the First First lady to leave after enjoying it for half a term. BA VERA VINASHUPA CHABE.

  4. These first ladies are doing some thing that some NGO are failing to do despite the colossal sum of money they get from the donors in the name of complementing the Governments efforts.#3 you need to know that Government will only facilitate and formulate policies. Please be realistic.

  5. Zambian women – fake hair and skin bleaching spells inferiority complex. No wonder they tolerate domestic violence. No self worth!

  6. Leave bana Zuma, alone. Zambia is the second home to all Southern African countries, mind you. Though, it isn’t the case the other way round.

  7. #8 @Phophetess you are a hater pure and simple

A well know fact is that there is more domestic violence in South Africa than Zambia.
