MMD’s Daniel Mwepu challenges Mpombo

Share

mpombo Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Matero Constituency Chairperson Daniel Mwepu has challenged former Defense Minister George Mpombo to tell the nation the real reason that led to his resignation from government.

Daniel Mwepu said instead of issuing immature statements against the MMD and the able leadership of President Rupiah Banda, Mr. Mpombo should be brave and tell the Zambian people why he resigned as Defense Minister.

Mr. Mwepu told ZANIS in a walk in interview in Lusaka today that Mr. Mpombo’s continued careless statements just shows the nation how immature he is.

Mr. Mwepu said no one in government or the ruling MMD forced Mr. Mpombo who is also Kafulafuta Member of Parliament (MP) to resign from his position as Defense Minister.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mwepu noted that Mr. Mpombo was not an asset to the MMD party hence the need for him to be sincere in his utterances.

He has since challenged Mr. Mpombo to go and form his own political party if he is not happy in the MMD.

Mr. Mpombo resigned from government and has since come under fire for using unpalatable language on the MMD and President Rupiah Banda.

  1. But if he resigned on his on accord, why should he always be on the roof top throwing dung at his party.let’s not turn villains into heroes.only yeaterday mpombo was the voice of the MMD,he would castrate anyone who speaks ill of the MMD simply because he was levy’s blue eyed coolie.now it’s the namugala’s time and the like and it has given him ulcers.**** himself.it’s a case of sour grapes.

  2. MMD should not give into this old mans gimmicks. He is merely looking for a way out and into the hope of forming government with PF. An expulsion makes one seem like the injured party and acquire sympathy from the public. However for you Mpombo, we doubt anyone will feel sorry for you, your actions and behavior, are not of one with interests in MMD. What is very sad about Zambian politics is that even thouh we cry for change, the likes of Mpombo quickly jump ship and join other parties when they sense their party is sinking and in the end its the same cycle of useless politicians running the country all over again, returning the status qou.

  3. Why this nosense of Mpombo this, Mpombo that? Why cant you fire him you useless MMD? Why cant you fire him from MMD. Mpombo has dared you many times and you keep on embracing him. Really you are a d.ull party. Take a leaf from UPND, Chizhuka wanted to behave like Mpombo, but they fired him and now he is quiet. Again I ask, why cant you fire Mpombo you MMD? We are too tired of your inspid winning about Mpombo, next time you will be slapped.

  4. # 3 you are right. Mpombo wants to emulate what the late Dr. Mwanawasa did when he resigned his post as VP in the Chiluba Administration. Mpombo is wrong because there are lot of differences between Mpombo and Mwanawasa. Firstly Mwanawasa was a statesman who understood issues while Mpombo is an illiterate who even fails to differentiate colour red from colour purple. Secondly, when Mwanawasa resigned he did not make noise and seek sympathy from the electorate. He did that out of principle and not out greedy like Mpombo is portraying. If Mpombo feels he is a force to reckon with, why he can’t he quit the MMD all together and re-contest his constituency?

  5. Mpombo’s statements are those of the peoples concerns and the legacy of Mwanawasa. What he is talking about is fairness take for instances the issue of the MMD conventions, he wants what is right what the MMD can do to prove Mpombo wrong is to go to the convention, to put there house in order then see if Mpombo will talk. Thats the best way to solve the problem. Those who say no convention then check your conscience.

  6. I would not be surprised to hear Gen. Shiks saying the DPP will not be forced to resign because he makes independent decisions

  7. Mpombo as member of MMD has every right to criticise the MMD leadership/ Afterall thev reason he resigned his positions are the driving force for his criticisms.

  8. Why should Mpombo resign from enjoying the limelight? Those bothered by his behaviour are the ones to do something about it. He has no problem with his current status. On the contrary, the chap has never had it this nice; Shame on toothless MMD!

  9. It is really a big surprise. The way I know MMD. Their inaction on Mpombo surprises me. It was so easy on Namakando and can some one explain this treatment on the two. On the later, action was swift and no procedures were followed but on the former no action so far. What could be explanation???????
