Mongu boy dies in inferno

A nine-year-old boy of Airport area in Mongu district has died after
the house he was sleeping in cought fire.

Western Division Police Commanding Officer, Vael Muzwenga, confirmed the
incident to ZANIS in Mongu that the fire started around
23:00hrs last night.

Mr Muzwenga said the father of the deceased boy, Kafuti Likonge, aged
25, together with his 19-year-old brother, Bweti Likonge, sustained
multiple burns on their bodies.

He said the fire might have been caused by a candle which
was left burning overnight.

The Commanding Officer said the duo is currently admitted to Lewanika
General Hospital while the remains of the deceased will be burried
today.

  2. Sad. However, this information looks incorrect. If the boy is 9 years and the mother 19 years, it therefore follows that the mother was 10 years or less when the boy was born, and the father 16 years. May be am wrong. All the same very sad indeed.

  3. Mbo @ #3, It says there were three people caught up in the inferno. The father who is 25 yrs old, his son 9 and the younger brother of the 25 year old father who is aged 19. Three dudes. Unless LT just corrected it.[-x
