Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General, Chriticles Mwansa has denied media reports suggesting that he was earmarked for vice presidency if people of Luapula province vote for the MMD in next year’s general elections.

Mr. Mwansa said the story carried by the Post Newspaper in its February 12th, edition headlined; “Rupiah promises Luapula chiefs a vice president…if they deliver the province to MMD in 2011,” was ill-conceived.

He said the story was an extreme misinterpretation of events that took place at the Mwata Kazembe’s palace grounds.

He added the insinuations that President Banda would appoint him vice president were cheap journalism, which was devoid of professionalism.

“I wish to distance myself from cheap acts of uncouth ‘professionals bent on misleading the nation in pursuant of personal and hidden agendas,” he said.

Mr. Mwansa, as a spokesperson and chief of protocol for the Mwata Kazembe’s kingdom, he had to be found at the palace to welcome the President as his entourage to guide them through tradition while on the palace grounds.[quote]

“I am currently appointed Commissioner General of the Zambia Revenue Authority and tasked with the responsibility of mobilizing resources for the Treasury. This is a task I concentrate on to the best of my ability,” he said.

He said he would not be distracted by anybody or a media organization from focusing on his substantive job.

“I shall remain resolved to do what I have to do for my country Zambia,” he said.

  1. Well said. You don t have to worry about these liars. We know your role Kulya kuchipango. Thanks for a well co ordinated receiption for the current and future President of this sweet country.

  2. Mwansa should not even waste his time on this beyond this statement because the report came from a embattled tabloid that deserve only to be a free enclosure pamplet because it carries no value for money. They are too desperate to keep sales when the noose on them has been getting intense. They work with failed political surrogates whose impact is only in their mouth.

  3. Senior civil servants need to be careful how they conduct themselves. He went out of his way to meet the president. He should have taken into consideration how this whole shabby affair would look to other people. His position requires him to be non-partisan. This is a corrupt country with a very corrupt government and civil service. It does not help matters when a man who raises funds for the country travels so far from Lusaka to get involved in what was clearly a campaign trip by the president. It is no use attacking the Post just because you’ve been caught out. Are there no people in Luapula province who are capable of explaining tradition to the president?

  4. What can one get from Davis Mwila and Sekeni struggling with multi million Kwacha debts they the wore the same people’s government they have been pleading to be written off but in vain. Sekeni owes the Government over ZK 750, million for the construction of OOP (SD) Mansa offices. When Mwanawasa started squeezzing him, he ran to Sata with whom he shares the nosense that its persecution against bembas. Here is RB too closer to the bembas coming after the people’s money.Sekeni has failed to deliver offices to OOP (SD) since 2006 he needs to be prosecuted.

  5. #2 You need to get over your hatred for a free press. People in developed countries and even developing countries like Jamaica and India have learned to live with tabloids. In your eyes they are embattled because the govenment you support is wedded to corruption and to limiting freedom of speech. This man (Mwansa) is not stupid. He should have known that fraternising with politicians who are on the campaign trail is not acceptable for a senior civil servant. I would not be surprised if we hear accusation that MMD are planning to loot the treasury for campaign funds. It is because of problems like this why civil servants should be seen to be non-partisan.

  6. Mr.Mwansa should ignore them. He is a distinguished Zambian international professional far beyond the sublevels of kaponyas in PF and at the tabloids. He has unparallel service to the country while they are thugs without a background. The country know better that Mwansa’s systemic approach to taxation is touching every criminal and the highly indebted tabloid is frustrated and cornered. It owes the people’s treasury billions in taxes hence all these reactionary smear intended to deflate Mwansa’s selflessness. They frame-up, sensationalize and exaggerate sensational fiction stories, daily running gossip columns repeating scandalous and innuendos about their perceived enemies and selfless tenacious tax man Mwansa is carrying that sin in their confused heads.

  7. What can Sata a shanter, Lubinda a life time waffler, Sekeni a failed security Guard who left the public service stack in G10 scale, Nsanda and Kambwili life time bus station call boys think about an accomplished high skilled internationalists Mwansa?

  8. Senior Citizen, Well said. Mr. Mwansa is above them all since his time in Belgium, Mwanawasa brought him to Zambia with a mission and is a patriotic Zambian leaving a far much better and well paid position in Belgium.

  9. I hope the POST are not trying to use this story to avoid paying their ZRA debt. Anyway, it would serve as good scape goat, when ZRA asks for its humble tax contribution from them, Mmembe will simply denounce the ‘pressure’ as coming from Mr Mwansa for being ‘exposed’.

  10. Good Evening

Yes, Mr. Mwansa has dealt with the matter and his words are clear; there was just singing and dancing at Mwata Kazembe’s palace. It is now time to go back to work and concentrate on the important task of developing the country.

So make up your minds, O Zambians, which leader ye shall choose to rule this mighty land…**==

  11. Sue the Post,,,,take them to court, chiluba did it and regreted
#1 you lied that Chriticles was from the royal family and was in line to become a Mwata,so whatever you post on this blog will be percieved as mere lies
Senior Citizen, you have more problems to worry about at the moment, you went awol last time when Anna Chifungula revealed financial irregularities at the embassy, this goes for all you caders, you strive on such stories, but when important issues from the auditor general come up,you coil yourselves shame, again,i dare all of you, tell me what lies the Post have peddled and what insults have been directed at RB and why the Post has never been taken to task for the same.i rest my case

  12. #11 Smoothcriminal
In what way can you sue the Post? No one but the President in the least, is libelled here. It is just unfortunate that we have a news paper that has found a dearth of bad news to write about the President that they pick at every word that he utters, whether privately or publicly in order to smear and cause opprobrium in the minds of the Zambian people. Soon, they will be reporting on what he says to his wife in the bedroom! That is the sad state into which this newspaper has gone. The Post editors suffer from Narcissistic personality disorders. Read below for a description of this disorder.

  13. The symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder revolve around a pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and sense of entitlement. Often individuals feel overly important and will exaggerate achievements and will accept, and often demand, praise and admiration despite worthy achievements. They may be overwhelmed with fantasies involving unlimited success, power, love, or beauty and feel that they can only be understood by others who are, like them, superior in some aspect of life. There is a sense of entitlement, of being more deserving than others based solely on their superiority. These symptoms, however, are a result of an underlying sense of inferiority and are often seen as overcompensation.

  14. Thus they are often envious and even angry of others who have more, receive more respect or attention, or otherwise steal away the spotlight.
These people need help, because they are not aware that they have a disorder. It is a pity that they have access to opinion forming in the country and left to themselves they endager the security of the nation state.

  15. The behaviour of the editorial staff at the Post is the antithesis of what freedom of the press entails. They are free to support whichever side they chose but morality demands that they should be truthful. To champion the cause of the Pact and one Micheal Sata, they have published bare faced lies against Rupiah Banda’s Government.

  16. It is natural for all the players involved to say “No” as it is the only resonable answer.I dont expect RB,Kazembe or Mwansa himself to say “Yes we discused that issue and the promise was made”.Read between the lines people.:-?Viva to tibloid newpapers.

  17. #16 Mo Taim-top post man :d/
#12 The Saint the president or indeed the state can sue the post in whatever way they deem fit,if they have told lies, they can be sued for libel/Slander or Defamation, and Chriticles can also sue as well coz his name has been brought to ridicule, and he can claim damages too,Chiluba did it when he was called a thief and lier,RB has been called a lier, why cant he instruct his lawyers

  18. Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, slander, and libel (for written or otherwise published words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, or nation a negative image.
In common law jurisdictions, slander refers to a malicious, false and defamatory spoken statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism,#12 THE SAINT,there you go,those are the grounds on which the POST can be sued for

  19. the rebut or denial of Mwansa should come through the Post. Mr Mwansa you know where the offices of the Post Newspapers are so why did you walk there and register your complaint and be covered by the same newspaper. Unlike the state pamplets, the Post i m sure will have no problem carrying your story so that we can all read and hear your story in in the same paper that reported your presence at the palace first. So please drive to the Post offices and let us see your story in tomorrow’s paper.

But you still need to answer the following questions? what were you doing at the palace with katumbi? Is he also a royal who came to welcome Pres. RB all the way from Katanga just like you moved all the way from Lusaka?

  20. #11 It is true that Mr Mwansa is from the royal family. He himself confirmed it to you when he said he is chief protocal officer for Mwata, that position can not be held by an outsider.Thats nothing but the whole truth my Bro.

  21. Citizen etc, do you expect Mwansa to say yes I was promised the VPship? Come on grow up. Just find out who let the cat out of the bag. And oh to become a Mwata one has to be born Muchipango(palace) so dont talk about things you have no knowledge of.

  22. Some people on thi site are worse than embaciles, just how could they expect Mwansa to say yes Kanitundila promised me the VP post knowing only too well that come 2011 Kansundila is losing and whoever comes into office will have Chriticles’s testicles fried! Anyway, any one who would have a guy with such a ridiculous first name appointed VP has got to be very sick in the head. This has potential to turn us into a laughing stock of a nation, I mean, a christian nation with testicles at the head, “bushe te amatole pamusana” the Bembas have for centuries been talking about we are witnessing here?

  23. Had this not been said, Testicles woul already be knocking on the doors of the court suing the Post. Guys, let’s be honest with ourselves here, when did M’Membe ever go wrong with maters like these? We all know Kansundila is promising everyone the VP, like Chiluba did with Tembo, Nawakwi, Baldwin, Mwila etc. These are all hallmarks of a desparate and failed presidency, true last kicks of a dying horse. As for Testicles, baba trys asking Katebe Katoto for a job or find another host to cling on, Zambians are parting ways with you come 2011, we have our own people to put in ZRA, not iwe chi Zayellow cha Katanga!

  24. Chrisetstacles should know better that this an info age period. His activities are well exposed. Now we want him resign from ZRA, or we fire him come after2011. We can no longer trustt him o run issues at ZRA and continue collecting our revenue. RB is no good for his country.

  25. Mwansa is lying. and being a protocol officer, doesnt me you a from the royal family. As for RB, Chiluba was a president and what development did he bring to Luapula, apart from toilet house for his sister in Musangu? So the card for VP might not work. it does not make sense when u had President u didnt get any benefit, then what can VP do. Luapulan are very sharp and wont fail for that. just look at neighboring providence, what they did to Lupanda (he was already a VP, it was just the matter of being MP then continue being the VP). And those rebel MPs are not the factor, 90% won because of being PF and they were not even know. the only MPs who can win in luapula regardless of the party are Katele and Mbulakulima.

  26. When the RP was in barotseland, post came with the headline “SAKI for veep, next it was Konga because of Oil, now its Mwansa. To make matters worse after every article Sata responds in line the the post articles. Anyway, Mwansa wouldnt make a bad veep. The man is humble, his well behaved and cut the grass at home. Mwansa has risen thru ranks to were he is today. He educated himself.

  27. Does Testacles(whatever his name is ) Mwansa thinks we can buy his story. The truth is that RB made the promise because RB is uses the VP as bet to woo support from chiefs. He did the same to western province and never gave them the VP.
We are not stupid so we did not expect to agree to the Post story. So Mr. Testacles Mwansa just resign and join politics.

  28. Mr Mwansa your position is very sensitive and important to our nation. But how do you explain being engaged in meetings with people like Katumbi. He might be the governor of rich Katanga province but they are alot of unanswered questions with his business deals he had in Zambia. And are you telling us that you will be shuttling between Lusaka and Luapula whenever RB or any other important people visit your palace? How can we develop if people like Mr Mwansa are busy attending to Katumbi?

  29. Meeting of the president and Commissioner General of the Zambia responsible for mobilizing resources for the Treasury near the time of elections will alway arouse suspicion because there is a conflict of interests. The MMD will require resources to run their campaigns therefore tampering with the commissioner could be seen as a way to tap in public resources or tax payers money to finance the MMD’s campaigns. If Mr Mwansa has Zambia at heart then he should say NO!! to any sweeteners offered by this blatant corrupt government.

  30. Shame on the Post. How do they just make up story and make the front page news? Leave the people of Luapula out of your cheap politics.**==

  31. I’m sure whatever the post wrote must have been extremely painful to Mr Mwanza. There is no smoke without fire. Well done post, please continue with the good job so that those in high position should think twice before misusing Tax payers money. 99% of them is corrupt what a shame!!!!!!

  32. ” tasked with the responsibility of mobilizing resources for the Treasury. This is a task I concentrate on to the best of my ability,” he said.” I shall remain resolved to do what I have to do for my country Zambia,” he said.
    =d>=d>=d>=d>

  33. Why is Mwansa reacting so badly. His current position is a direct presidential appointment so RB promises to appoint him Veep after 2011 elections what is wrong with that. In any case what was his role at Mwasabombwe and there was no Umutoboka affairs so whatwas he doing.

  34. He would be a better vp than the current one. Appoint him now and you will surely carry Luapula. I think. Where is Lupando Mwape from?

  35. Yes, we recognise the intelligence and what Mwansa has achieved but should remember how our cream of people have finished themselves by getting closer to this politicians who after using them reduce them to nothing of becoming a president ever!!!! The Kateles, Machungwa and others look at them now they are finished just for a plate of porridge!! Very sad!!! Greediness has reduced Zambia to this level.

To remind some people who may be interested to know that Mwansa some time last year he lamented how ZRA makes so much money that it hurt him to see the levels of poverty. That was the first and last of Mwansas spoken out and went quiet just to resurface in Luapula. Think and reflect people are watching!!!!!!

  36. I feel sorry for Mwansa. He is not a political cadre nor does he think politics. He is meek and humble. His just been caught in the web because of his sensitive position. The fact is RB mentioned and promised what ever has been reported by the Post. Believe me you RB exercised what we can call un warranted dull politics and politiking. Implying that he was just not prepared for the trip. All he wants to claim is that he has officially visited all coroners of Zambia. People need food and a bright future for there children period. Not useless visits.

  38. Dear Bloggers, You can now agree with me when I point out how low our greatest ass lickers, Patriot, Snr Citizen and The Saint are.Instead of doing what they were meant to be doing at the Zambian Embassy, they are busy blogging rubbish.Look at President Lula of Brazil. He never went to secondary school but has performed an economical miracle.Transforming 10million people into the middle class,Bringing electricity to over 10million homes and the list goes on.Mugabe has 7 degrees but look at the state of zim today.Leadership is not having degrees. There are a lot of educated fools esp in our country.Richard Bronson, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs,Micheal Dell,David Packard,Ted Turner,Ben Cohen,Warren BuffetAkio Morita(founder of Sony)Howard Shulltz(founder of Starbucks) are not only successful but wis

  39. All these men I have mentioned have no college degrees but when they speak at forums such as World Economic Forum,at Davos, all Intellectuals are eager to learn a thing or two from these most successful captains of Industries. They have leadership Qualities higher than the whole MMD Cabinet combined.Anyway, our Greatest ass lickers(Saint, Snr Citizen,Patriot) will actually help RB to save costs with his groceries, he doesn’t have to buy toilet paper because they will always do a better job than the toilet paper.Who needs to buy a toilet tissue when these special ass lickers are there? For as long as we have people with the mindsets of these ass lickers, our country shall never progress.Imagine how their offsprings should be like, their spouses should even be worse. Can’t think outside the box

  40. Snr Citizen,As much as you might dislike Kambwili(PF) Mp, I still give him credit for his efforts in contributing to the well being of our citizens. He has single-handedly been able to go to schools in the uk to ask for books, computers and other materials as donations to zambian schools. These are some of the things ass lickers like yourself on GRZ payroll at the embassy could have been doing instead of senselessly blogging all night long.Yes these donations may be 2nd hand but it would be profitable for our kids in schools in Shangombo, Kaputa, Lundazi, Zambezi and even shools in urban areas. As a result Kamwili is very popular in his constituenceAt the end of the day the Govt gets the credit for Kambwili’s efforts.Remember, Zambia is a LDC and not a developing country. So shut up and…

  41. Yes Neutral you have spoken. You should have also mentioned Sir Alan Sugar who left school at 16 from a council house in the same breath but now owns an eight hundred million pound business empire. Before Senior citizen occupied State House there was talk of age restriction for presidential aspirants. This talk is now dead. How can the members of NCC without degrees disenfranchise themselves from becoming presidents and allow a discriminatory clause which only allows a clique of graduates to rule them? What is in their heads?

  42. # 22, Marvellous Marvin Hagler:
so, insulting Mwansa makes you a better analyst? He has contributed more to the development of this country than you ever have and by the tone of your analysis, ever will.

we want objective analysis of issues not insults… UCHINJE!!!

  43. Dear C.Mwansa, you are a highly admired senior civil servant of our country due to the so aplaused achievement that ZRA has made. Zambians are good in discouraging and attacking successful citizen like you. Concentrate on what you know better, serve the nation, remain patriotique and the same YOU…. If given to you, why not try? which zambian would say NO to the post?…..Come on Bro!!!!
Dont be frustrated, after all they are all greener pastures seekers…….. PAKWAKANA ICHILEMBA……….bembas know better……
