UPND in 11 South districts want pact with MMD

Share

MMD Chief Whip Vernon Mwaanga

United Party for National Development (UPND) members in 11 districts in Southern Province want an alliance between their party and the MMD, veteran politician and parliamentary chief whip Vernon Mwaanga has said.

Mr Mwaanga said the people of Southern Province have called for a pact between the MMD and the UPND as opposed to the one that was currently in existence between the Patriotic Front (PF) and the UPND.

Mr Mwaanga who has just returned from a visit to the districts said the general view of the people was that they wanted to see an alliance between the MMD and the UPND as the two parties’ manifestos were similar.

In an interview, in Livingstone Mr Mwaanga said only an alliance between the MMD and the United Party for National Development (UPND) would produce a Republican president from Southern Province in 2016.

He observed that coalitions and pacts had a great capacity for failure especially in Africa because their ideologies were usually different.

He cited the pact between the PF and the UPND as one which would not work because the two opposition parties had manifestos that were diametrically opposed.

He said while the PF believed in socialisation and nationalisation, the UPND believed in liberalisation and a free market.

Mr Mwaanga said the people of Southern Province had observed that the MMD and UPND manifestos were similar and this was why they were calling for a pact between the two parties.

He would personally support a pact between the MMD and the UPND, as it would be for the benefit of the Zambian people.

“If UPND shows interest, I would encourage the MMD to enter into an alliance with UPND as it would be mutually beneficial to the Zambian people. It is not about personalities but the interests of the Zambian people,” he said.

Mr Mwaanga condemned the violence during recent by-elections in Mufumbwe saying violent acts did not add anything to development.

As the 2011 elections drew closer, it was important for Zambians to scrutinise speeches and see how some politicians were merely attacking others and engaging in name calling as those vices are bad.

“I believe that Zambians want politics of substance. Zambians want tangible service delivery,” he said.

On the appointment of opposition UNIP Member of Parliament Mkhondo Lungu as minister of home affairs, Mr Mwaanga said that the move was constitutional as the president was at liberty to appoint any MP regardless of which party they were coming from.

He congratulated Mr Lungu on his appointment.

  1. Not supprising because the Patriotic Front (PF) and UPND pact has no serious agenda other than their own tribal instincts misleading them to think they could build a winner’s momentum into 2011 by continually insulting President Rupiah Banda. It is sad that the two leaders of the pact had no issues to talk about and have chosen to gang up to vainly fight and insult President Banda as a way of making their existence known. It is more wasteful and miscalculated that our fellow educated Hichilema has intellectually and politically forfeited his future only to become subservient to a none thinking sub 2 retard Michael Sata who is only skilled in insults, hatred, slander and tribal crusades.

  2. One year on as a PACT, the two leaders have no issues to talk about but to keep their futureless momentum of hatred up to 2011. They have resorted to attacking President Banda in tabloids with impunity to create an impression that he was a bad leader, when in actual fact, he is a proven altruistic rationalist systematically stirring the country to a better future for all than the PACT preoccupied with rehearsals and insults.

  3. No doubt the future of this so called pact is doomed because it has been formed out of desperation for power by the two tribal and power hungry political party paragons of hatred.
The pact is a marriage of convenience between two disconnected chaps. As I write, it has reached the end at a strategic inflexion point. It is a matter of weeks before it its disastrous divorce manifests publicly.

  4. These chaps as a PACT have no progressive plans for national development or peace and unity, but that their interest is to get into Government using tribal instincts to satisfy their personal ego, indebtedness to foreign capitalist loaders to who for campaign finance they have concessioned our land, minerals, water and morals besides desire to settle political scores.
Their inconsequential ganging up as a fragile PACT is not for national good but to rehearse insults and insult President Banda in the tabloid and threaten Zambians with imaginary wars because they do not have issues to talk about. If they had issues, they would have been talking about the plans they have for Zambians.

  5. V.J found 11 chiefs to listen to him.

WOW only 11 votes that will make a difference.

From the words of MMD they think the UPND wants them.
    what a joke

  6. Southerners will never vote for MMD easterners.

They know who stole the money in the last 18 years.

  7. ……their personal ego, indebtedness to foreign capitalist loaders to whom they owe millions of unsettled Dollars given for campaign finance. They have concessioned our land, minerals, water and morals besides desire to settle political scores.

  8. Mr Mwaanga condemned the violence during recent by-elections in Mufumbwe saying violent acts did not add anything to development.

    MWANGA you STOOGE.
You don’t insult someone you say wants to make a pact with you.
    Who does MMD blame….P.F?

  9. Senior Citizen, Ass MMD bootlicker and Capitalist: Please help us to understand why your party is so much interested to go into a pact with UPND? And what have they seen? If I remember very well you always call UPND a tribal and useless party with no national status. You always call HH ichilema! today tell us because Mwaanga knows very well that for RB he will only win in Eastern province, while Western will be shared by Charlie and HH, South, North West, Lusaka rural, copper belt rural, and central will go to HH and Lusaka urban, CB urban, luapula and Northern will go to SATA.Mwanga do not hide in ghost UPND districts you are fake

Can you make another promise to stop blogging if this does not occur.
Your analytical skills are so wrong most times.
    You wanna BET?

    LOSER MMD CADRES!

  11. Liar!!!!! If 11 people want pact with MMD does that means everyone in those districts want UPND pact with MMD??

  12. Senior Citizen is so scared now he calls H.H by his real name and calls him educated.

  13. #1, 2
Iwe Senior Citizen what time is it in USA? Mbwana mkumbwa do you ever sleep? what about your partner does she/he approve of your waking up at unholy hours to post comments on the blog? As for VJ, his sickness has taken hold and is eroding his sense of reasoning. Barely a month away MMD wiped the hell out of UPND cadres for no reason, what does he take UPND party officials for? A bunch of chestnuts, huh?

  14. In functional democracy voters align with leadership that is clear, historically risk-adjusted, measured across a broad spectrum of criteria and with a record of holding best practices and building upon them. When norms are missing in party politics, members become disillusioned and susceptible in the political arena.

The million dollar question is:Is the PF historically risk-adjusted, measured across a broad spectrum of criteria and with a record of holding best practices UPND of progressives can say they will build upon a dream. Look at their incongruencies.

  15. # 10 Peace maker,

UPND is not Ichilema and Ichilema is not UPND. That syndrome is for Sata where Sata is PF and PF is Sata. UPND has progressive men and women of equal caliber and ability to MMD. Today ruling MMD continues to enjoy a working relationship in and outside parliament. Pull passed bills voting patterns. Today Ichilema can hibernate to hell yet UPND will move on. We are talking of a party with constructionists and rationalists not subservient to the insanity and hyperboles of Ichilema and Sata. Look at rationalists like Jack Mwiimbu, Muntanga, Emmanuel Hachipuka and such sober heads with whom Ichilema is so scared of. This is why he counts on incompatibles- none thinking extremists like Ackson Sejani, Madyekhuku, Mwananjiti and Beyani than these patriots.

  16. UPND is not Ichilema and Ichilema is not UPND. That syndrome is for Sata where Sata is PF and PF is Sata. Today Ichilema can hibernate to hell yet UPND will move on.

  17. Senior Citizen.
    MMD are not patriots.
    They are just CONVICTED thieves.

Funny,Now you are back to ichilema.

    Banda the FAT PANDA!

  18. Where you have parties that are not historically risk-adjusted, measured across a broad spectrum of criteria and with a record of holding best practices as PF is, the dream of power-sharing in a country that has no constitutional framework supporting is a dangerous myth. Actually power sharing if dealing with a tyrannical self centere charlatan as Sta is not only a dream but unstable form of forseable government that, even at the best of times, provides only a short-term reprieve from violent conflict in the fold. Other than as transitional remedies, power-sharing agreements with a dictator are virtually unworkable.

  19. IWE MBULI SENIOR CITIZEN, BOLA PANSHI. KANSHI WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU SEEM TO HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS, OR IS IT A CASE OF NAVIONELANJI? SIS MAN TAKE ABREAK, YOU ARE SO IRRITATING YOU HAVE NO IDEA. DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN DRIVE A POINT HOME IN JUST TWO SENTENCES? YOU DONT NEED THE WHOLE BLOG JUST TO LICK MMD’s BACKSIDE

  20. SENIOR CITIZEN, Chakuti chobe nabakutuma, VJ you are not as smart this time, we wont allow you to jump ship to UPND.

  21. There are many rooms in the MMD mansion to accommodate any progressive Zambia. As a mass party MMD is the only institution with unbeatable proven a record of being an inclusive big tent for all. Zambians have seen Ms. Masebo from ZP, Nzowa and Gladys Nyirongo from HP, Magande, Mpombo and Tetamashimba from UPND and now Honorable Mkhondo Lungu from UNIP becoming Ministers besides Rozemary Banda. This is why progressive UPND think-tanks find reason to keep a warm working relationship with MMD than PF Ichilema is misleading himself to. They see a future in working with dynamic MMD than Sata a counterfeit leader.

  22. SEnior Citizen ..

you are well informed and a terrible liar at the same time. We know that you support MMD but don’t

drug anyone with those lies of yours to your side. Let people think, analyze and decide.

It is because of many people who do things like you that Africa as a whole is not developed and is

now being scrambled for by cruel and selfish foreigners.

    Are you good for nothing?

  23. There are many rooms in the MMD mansion to accommodate any progressive Zambian.Had this not been the case, the MMD doors wouldn’t have been left this open to all progressive citizens.

  24. With fixated self seeking dictators like Sata naturally allergic to democracy, power-sharing agreements are difficult to arrive at, are even more difficult to put into practice, and when implemented rarely stand the test of time. Indeed, the problem with power-sharing under such dilema is even more fundamental: It does not resolve conflict therein the PACT but instead may only temporarily displace it or disguise disputants’ more malevolent intentions.

  25. Iwe chi Senior Chikala iwe finshi ulelanda, how progressive are you?If you were progressive will you be in the USA right now looking for green pastures,Chikala ule ishaba ifyakulanda, just come and join the pact so you can live and work in your own country without green card bullshit. Mind you Iam a proud easterner with from a Bemba mum,But unfortunately i don’t support RB at all neither the MMD and their foolish selfish and corrupt manifestos. Can’t you even see from your leaders who are going to jail for stealing from us.Take your foolish progressive idiology someone coz i don’t think you even understand the context of the word you just said

  26. Iwe chi Senior Chikala iwe finshi ulelanda, how progressive are you?If you were progressive will you be in the USA right now looking for green pastures,Chikala ule ishaba ifyakulanda, just come and join the pact so you can live and work in your own country without green card bullshit. 27. In conclusion i say its now only appropriate for progressive UPND members to move on and tell off Ichilema that he is not UPND and UPND is not him. UPND is under siege and in dangerous degeneration under Ichilema. Going to bed with Sata is an affront to the spirit and vision of Mwanamubotu Kambela Anderson Mazoka who is now turning in his grave over ichilema’s betrayal of his spirit.

Zambia is bigger than the ego of Sata and ichilema.

  28. Negro z paid for the crap,so dont pay attention to him.as for VJs claims,PULIZ just go home and recuperate, your lying history is well documented[-x

  29. Ba Senior citizen naimwe utuchawa twa fake. Come 2011, you will be licking the Pact just for the sake of wanting to continue staying in DC. Atase! [-x

  30. MMD is only found in Eastern province it does not exist in mufumbwe , Lusaka, CB , Western , South ,Nothern, Central and luapula. Now that Kalumba is ex convict let go for by election in chiengi

  31. Senior Citizen, you are very interesting! In one breath, you condemn insults and hatred against Ruppiah and in the next you fly off straight to insult Sata and to express your hatred of him!
You may have a strong motive (definitely NOT national interest!) for so passionately and tenaciously defending your principals (not principles), but please spare us the unbalanced thinking and extremism!
(I can almost see you sitting there grimly punching away at your computer, ha ha hah!)

  32. Mungoma,

Where has SC insulted Sata which i have missed. The truth is that SC is one person i’m yet to see posting an insult or indeed responding to insults on him by intellectually challenged PF kaponyas. If any no pro MMD activist ever insults not even hard hitting MMD Chief Bootlicker of SA. Just take the overwhelming bash of SC with a bitter reality.

  33. 17
#17 Senior Citizen – Simple question is VJ MMD or UPND? Is he qualified to talk about the Pact? They have faile Luapula now they think they can con the South? After all the Tongas want to have a President so unless MMD will field HH the whole excercise is a non starter

  34. Silence is Golden, but at what point does it really become golden? Is it a point when declarations seem to be shocking after a spell of silence or it is the awaiting of the declarations after a time of silence?
Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has just opened one door by availing his real perception of the future of the political pact between his party and the Patriotic Front (PF).

  35. Mr Hichilema declared on Sunday, May 23, 2010 that he is the better candidate for Zambia in the forthcoming 2011 elections. Does this now answer the question of who becomes the Pact leader?
What does Mr Hichilema’s declaration mean for the UPND existence in the Pact and the PF?
The Foundation for Democratic Process (fodep) president Stanley Mhango says the Pact was now confusing people following the declaration by Mr Hichilema and the two leaders should give direction.

  36. Politics is for politicians but draws a large and keen following of ordinary citizens who usually play a role of supporting those they feel portray their ideals, those that are not, should stay out of it. Life is the greatest teacher and all that goes up will definitely come down one day.
The truth cannot be concealed forever. Former United States of America president Bill Clinton once said “the strength of any democratic leader was in his ability to tolerate, to absorb criticism, learn from it and build on it.”

  37. Today Zambian politics require such a culture as stated by Mr Clinton.
Eleven months ago, a political marriage was announced between the PF and the UPND. Since this announcement of the formation of the Pact there have been more questions raised than the answers given as regards its purpose, vision, strategy and most of all its sustainability in Zambian politics.
Who will lead the Pact in 2011? How will the two parties harmonise the parliamentary seat selection process and even the local government representation? These questions have remained lingering in every politically concerned Zambian’s mind.

  38. There were also several questions regarding the age differences between the PF leader Mr Michael Sata and the UPND leader Mr Hichilema and lately issues surrounding the health and education have taken root.
The contrasts in policies such as foreign policies between the two parties have also remained unanswered.
Just upon the formation of the UPND-PF pact external voices tried to analyse the whole idea of the Pact both in a positive and negative perspective but indeed objectively.

  39. University of Zambia (Unza) academician in the School of Humanities Alex Ng’oma came out candidly and advised that the Pact between the two parties was formed out of a wrong assumption that people that voted for the PF and the UPND when teamed up would make a formidable force against the ruling party.
Dr Ng’oma stated from the onset that the two parties in the Pact were both struggling with the negative tribal tags on their necklines and chances of rebellions based on tribes were imminent.

  40. Dr Ng’oma said in his presentation during the Centre for Policy Dialogue symposium that all decisions to be made by the Pact should be based on carefully scanned environment. He said the formation of the Pact was after realisation by each of the parties that they had failed to defeat the MMD individually in several elections.
Various other political and social players expressed their views about the Pact on several occasions.

  41. Both Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema remained non committal to share their detailed perception of the future of the Pact as regards the leadership. In both public discussions and personal interviews with the media, the two leaders have failed to share the real issues regarding the Pact. None of them fully explained as to what they would do or what would remain of the pact if they were not selected to be candidate in the 2011 elections.
    The Pact and UPND
This week Mr Hichilema opened up. Declaring he is the right candidate for 2011. What does that mean for the PF leader Mr Sata and his party? Has Mr Hichilema just opened up his campaign against Mr Sata?

  42. If the Pact was properly consummated did Mr Hichilema have to make such a declaration? He clearly stated that he was a better candidate because of the age. Mr Hichilema is 48 years old while his PF partner Mr Sata is 74 years.
Mr Hichilema who made reference to the recent elections in Britain, America and Russia where newly elected heads of state were all aged between 43 years and 50 urged Zambians to open their eyes and face reality by electing him president in 2011.
“The world knows what type of leadership this country needs and surely you people of Zambia cannot see. I hope Zambians can make the right choices next year,” Mr Hichilema said.

  43. PF vice-president Guy Scott has however said the sentiments by Mr Hichilema should not worry people as the decision as to who should lead the party would be announced later.
UPND is a minority partner in the Pact going by the number of parliamentary seats each party can brag about. The PF has the numbers in Parliament and has enjoyed popularity, especially in urban areas. This popularity is however being challenged by the MMD that seem to have been gaining sound control of most of the areas where the PF initially claimed to be strong.
The PF could argue this but it is reality. The MMD has regained its support of the Luapula and Northern Province where the PF claimed to have its roots. The popularity of a political party is gauged not by the number of pronouncements but the number of…

  44. Mr Hichilema and the UPND seem to be slowly realising as correct the advice most Zambians gave as regards their marriage with the PF. The Pact was not properly planned for before being formulated. It was formed outside the mutual understanding of both Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema this is why todate it has not been launched.
If the Pact was properly planned it would have been launched just a couple of weeks after formation. Nobody wishes the Pact to fail but it seems to balance on the side of failure because of the obvious nature, interests and ideals of the two leaders.

  45. There are leaders in the UPND today that are still puzzled that their party went into this partnership with the PF.
Equally in the PF there are several MPs and leaders that still refuse to acknowledge the existence of the Pact, they have even declared that they would go their way out of the party if Mr Hichilema was elected leader of the Pact.
Their language on Mr Hichilema remain uncivil and their approach to politics unfriendly

  46. .
Shortly after the formation of the pact, Namwala MP Robby Chizyuka (UPND) openly criticised the whole idea calling it a direct betrayal of the principles upon which the UPND was formed by its founder president, late Anderson Mazoka.
Mr Mazoka was apparently a political rival of Mr Sata believed to have played a role in haunting him out of the MMD where they both belonged. Mr Sata was the national secretary of the MMD.

  47. Does the UPND still think that issues Maj Chizyuka raised such as the tribal inclination of the PF, which is alleged to be Bemba oriented and the UNPD that is Tonga dominated are no longer issues?
Maj Chizyuka said both PF and UPND were tribal parties whose people cannot work together. He said there was also a resolve by the Tonga people who dominated the UPND not to support any Bemba as head of State because they believed that people from the northern part of Zambia have had their opportunity before to be in State House.

  48. Maj Chizyuka reminded the UPND how the PF leaders previously denounced Mr Mazoka and later Mr Hichilema publicly. He said the formation of the Pact was not supported by people at the grassroots in the party and Mr Hichilema owed them an apology for dragging them into a marriage with a strange party.
Maybe today the question that the UPND should answer is: What is its significance in the Pact or what has it achieved so far from the pact with only about 17 months before the 2011 elections.

  49. MMD party in disguise. Now thinking UPND would say yes.
At least we the MMD know for sure we are leaving next year come what may.Kuya bebele ba kabolala ,bakapondo.Kuluba pamo na kaluba or chiluba

  50. MMD is clearly getting desperate. This once called useless PACT is scaring them. Why is it so important now that they see UPND as a key factor? Is it UPND they want or its Southern province? I dont seem to understand this VJ. I hope the PACT hold together and chase these scoundrels out of power. They only know how to plunder

  51. Following “In an interview, in Livingstone Mr Mwaanga said only an alliance between the MMD and the United Party for National Development (UPND) would produce a Republican president from Southern Province in 2016” I find it strange that usually politically sober distant uncle is now infected with the MMD leaership tribalist to an extent that he can make sure a tribal statement.

Please, VJ, the mighty UPND Group is not a party of Southern Province but a National Party that represents the aspirations of every Zambians and no southerners alone.

Please, spare me a real southerner about such blantant errors in misrepresenting the people of Southern Province. I hope the MMD tribalism will end here in terms of painting southerners as selfish people.

    B blest o.
    _
    Matt 6:33 But…

  52. Mwaanga got it wrong on the manifesto of UPND where he allaged said it is smiller to MMD .The truth is UPND manifesto does not encourage corruption and thieving while MMD corruption and thieving is the centre of their current manifesto anyone who does not agree with that is kicked out ask Mpombo and Magande.

  53. On “He [Mr VJ Mwaanga] observed that coalitions and pacts had a great capacity for failure especially in Africa because their ideologies were usually different“why is he again indicating “If UPND shows interest, I would encourage the MMD to enter into an alliance with UPND as it would be mutually beneficial to the Zambian people. It is not about personalities but the interests of the Zambian people“? Has he lost his memory power?

Anyhow, MMD is now showing desperation signs only compared to an unprincipled 25 year old girl on heat that needs to be married to whoever before age 30 catches her single.

I therefore welcome the prayers that the Isreali Leader is conducting for Zambia to get back on real development road.

    Have a blessed day all.
    _
    Matt 6:33 But seek…

  54. If MMD(movement for mischivious deeds) feels the pact cannot work then why are they sending Mwanga to southern province, is that not desperation. UPND is a democratic party indeed, whatever strategic move they want to make, they vote and the winners it have and if you are one of the losers like Chizyuka you just have to compromise or quit. In this party the president does not make decisions alone but the whole party structure, even to go to the NCC they had to conduct a NEC election before taking a move. This is a party which has been attacked from back, centre, forward but its members are so principled that they have remained stead fast, and I really admire their strength because they are not political prostitutes.

  55. People work up ! MMD has destroyed this country , please check Ndola, luanshya ,chingola, pemba ,lubwe, kasaba, katete, kalabo road ,chibuluma township in kalulushi and Tanzania road in livingstone you can cry these places look like we survived from civil war but they were nice places BEFORE MMD Chief Bootlicker ( Criminal) came in power .Let us work up ,learn from our brothers and sisters from mufumbwe come 2011 it is MAPATIZYA FORMULA.I we chi bootlicker ukachimona there in America you will come home on foot.

  56. These are men who have standings in life and believe that politics is not about getting a job and money but service to the people, thats why you do not hear them stealing CDF fund. For them to enter into a pact with pf they knew what they were doing and by the way the policies which MMD is trying to implement are for UPND given to them by Sikota when he wanted the party to form a pact with MMD when Mazoka was sick in South Africa. And by the way who is Mwanga to talk about Southern province where he does not even hold any parliamentary seat, because he is a reject in the province. Southerners the way I know them are such principled people who cannot listen to Mwanga’s desperate talks, even Choma the area where he comes from.

  57. #55 Mwata- Remember William and Rupiah Banda were sworn enemies of MMD, but today they are at the helm of the same party. Just go to hell 2011

  58. VJ is a political analyst and has given you free advice. Ignore it at your own peril but do not come back in 2011 whining about rigging, we are already fed up. Of course the advice is particularly not welcome by the PF side of the PACT.

  59. To be honest enough this is a province which feels comfortable to be in the opposition for ever if they do not agree to what the ruling party’s policies and they have been doing it of late. Southern province the way I know it is one which can never be cheated twice, In 2001 the whole province left UNIP and voted for Chiluba who never cared for them even when their cows were dying from foot and mouth outbreak. These people never respect someone who ignores what they value(animals and farming). These people hate to be cheated and will never associate themselves with any criminal activity thieves for that matter which MMD is associated to. Ignoring their cows is like bombing oil field in Saudi Arabia.

  60. ‘PF-UPND pact not feasible’

The failure by the Patriotic Front (PF) and United Party For National Development (UPND) to formally launch the pact is a confirmation that the alliance is not feasible. The two parties had promised to formally launch the pact in April this year.Committee of Citizens executive director Gregory Chifire said in a statement that the electorate are keen to know the future of the pact and its leadership.
Mr Chifire said there is a power struggle in the pact, especially after UPND won the Solwezi and Mufumbwe by-elections

  61. “Both Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema want to run for presidency in 2011 as confirmed by the fact that both parties have already prepared campaign materials,” Mr Chifire said.

He said the pact is on the path of self-destruction because of the behaviour of its leadership.

Mr Chifire said the alliance between the PF and UPND cannot work because the two parties have different manifestos and ideologies.

  62. “The fact that the PF and UPND have failed to unite in finding a common candidate only shows that both Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema are hungry for power and not interested in serving Zambians as they claim.

“Their interest is to go to State House by using the banner of this alliance and there is no sincerity in the manner the leaders are dealing with pact issues,” Mr Chifire said.

He said each of the parties in the pact is hoping to use the other to assume the presidency.

  63. Mr Chifire said history has revealed that political alliances do not work, adding that both PF and UPND were in the past involved in pacts which failed.

“Zambians have learnt from history that political alliances do not work and both PF and UPND have been involved in such arrangement in the past.

“UPND has been in an alliance with UNIP and FDD called the United Democratic Alliance which failed…PF was also in an alliance with United Liberal Party which did not bear fruit. So the fact that the PF-UPND pact has showed signs of failure is not strange to Zambians,” Mr Chifire said.

  64. Mr. Mwanga, u said political pacts have not worked in the country WHY then do u need UPND to partner with u?? MMD has been caught pants down coz they have no direction. They though North western province, will be there for them unfortunately they have lost two of their own seats in that province and remained with no option but to use KAFUPI go and influence chiefs in Luapula which still has not yielded any meaningful results, hence Veron Johnson Mwanga’s lies after the people in Southern province gave him a cold shoulder!! MMD kuya bebeleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

  65. Whatever MMD can do to Southern province, it will never win their hearts because they tried it from 2001 to 2008 but is failed to deliver on their promises. Atleast they tried to believe in Mwanawasa because he tried to fight corruption but this coming of Chiluba of late on the political scene will bring mush discomfort and I doubt if Banda will get the same votes in the region as he did the last election. In this region your past record and performance maens a lot for your future, and its one thing many people have failed to discover thats why people like Vernon Mwanga, Madyenkuku etc cannot stand as MPS or even if they were to winning would be compared to passing a camel in the eye of a needle. We really need to study the behaviour of certain ethinic groups for us to understand them.

  66. Senior Citizen #11 comment exposes you badly. You say “Look at rationalists like Jack Mwiimbu, Muntanga, Emmanuel Hachipuka and such sober heads with whom Ichilema is so scared of. This is why he counts on incompatibles- none thinking extremists like Ackson Sejani, Madyekhuku, Mwananjiti and Beyani than these patriots.” Kubwatuka bwatuka ka! You are talking like a mad and baptized fool. Ask and the truth will be told to you. Your facts are jumbled.

  67. Just this morning Boniface Kawimbe was on Radio Ichengelo exposing the same type of ignorance. Mwanga must just rest for he does not know the truth or anything about issues affecting Southern Province. Is n’t this the same man who embarrassed LPM when he went to Congo DR? I am sure RB will not take his advice seriously. Coming to the invisible support he spoke about, the man is trying to send a wrong signal to HH so he panicks for nothing. We are aware MMD will say anything to distabilise the Pact. The UPND-PF Pact will not be shacken by any mouth from MMD. The more they talk about plays advantage to it. As true and reasonable Zambians we are sick and tired of the same old promises, same old tricks and same old rubber stamps. So far MMD government is known abroad for wrong reasons. He…

  68. Wake up guys Vernon Mwanga cannot make a living without tax payers money and this is a tendency we need to break in zambia where people who have no standing in life dictate on what we should have as a nation. We cannot be recycling the same old politicians for their selfish gains such as Mwanga, Banda, Kavindele, Micheal Sata, Daniel Munkombwe and others who have failed to bring development to our country and for that matter us the youths suffer the most to pay for their living and reviews to South Africa. These people need to go to their farms for some rest and even take care of Grand children when their parents visit. Viva pact with progressive people of zambia.

  69. VJ YOU HAVE BEEN IN POLITICS SINCE THE 60’s PLEASE TELL US WHAT HAVE YOU ACHIEVED
ALL YOU POLITICS MATE HAVE CALLED IT QUITS. LOOK AT KK, GREY ZULU, ETC BUT YOU ARE STILL POLITICKING, YOUR HEALTH IS A MESS, YOU CAN DIE ANYTIME. WHY DONT YOU DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND RETIRE OR YOU ASPIRE TO HAVE A NATIONAL MOURNING

  70. this is from ze post for you senior citizen:
“On corruption Rupiah Banda is behaving like a Bemba man who wants to kill a monkey but he starts by cutting trees around before he can kill the monkey, which is his target. Rupiah knows the target in this fight against corruption,” Sata said. “But Rupiah must know that we still have a long way to go and the person he is relying on cannot be trusted. The person is only interested in his own glory and not other people’s glory. So it’s up to Rupiah to create more friends than enemies because right now he is creating a lot of enemies.”

Now tel me mr. senior were ar ze insults?

  71. Vernon has been a failure in life ever since, he has married and re-married even to the extent of marrying Shalamwana from Congo, he is also political prostitute and he thinks he can transfer lack of principles and failures to others of good standing like HH. How can we listen to Vernon when he cannot do anything good for himself, as we know success and good morals start from home, a small unit such as a family. If you cannot manage a family, or even a small business for a nation it is a disaster. We learn a lot from Chiluba, he could not manage his wife and Children thats why there was no success in his administration. Be ware of some people’s back grounds before giving them the responsibility to take care of your affairs.

  72. Click on all of Mwata’s copy and paste rubbish.

    complain about this comment.

L.T can become a better place without all this copy and paste rubbish from Mwata/Senior Citizen and Veteran.

  73. Truth Hurts,

Start your own blog where you will be senselessly singing for Sata without seeing the heat from patriotic Zambians. We have never sent you invitation cards instead you follow like maggots. You know that SC like myself is a talented prolific writer you cannot take head-on be it on a subject of your interest.

  74. What is interesting is that Sata has vowed to go into exile this year after taking a 5th rejection at the ballot though he will not reach his destiny of exile. He has vowed to leave Zambia so that his kaponyas can start a war against Zambians. Unfortunately, there will be no war though they will only manage to exterminate his own family and burn all his properties to ashes. Tough luck for him that come rain come sun MMD and RB are retaining power and him will be drawning in shame and usual deeper debts at the hands of foreign financing mafia now pressurizing him for their monies. He wants to run away in hope he could hide from these hitmen who have been bankrolling PF b.l.o.o.d.y money. There is no sanctuary from mafias they will still get him dead or alive as long as he doesnt deliver.

  75. ba veteran naimwe mwilatusebanya..talk sense dnt do it for ze sake of bwabwataling efinshi ifi mwayamba ukulanda ifyabulamo na truth? tu shimi utu mwayamba grow up man!!!

  76. Woooooooo! Ha ha ha ha! Senior fimo fimo and veteran woooooooooo! you have even started extorting yourself for something not there, am surprised. Today you want to be friends with UPND oh no kanshi you just talk against when you are actually busy salivating. Ummn! Now i see, it wont happen oh. You are taking UPND pipo for joke, thats why they are opposition they don’t believe in you.

  77. VJ what a waste of time something to say for yourself. I think you should mind you health problems rather than cause confusion. HH and Sata are well suited. What have you done for people in southern provinve since you came into politics even you own village macha. You thinking is not right and mmd are full of thieves and people who have damage zambia, HH is a capable leader on his own or jointly with Sata. So forget your dream of pack and do not rig the next election. Look at what happen to Katele is this the party to work with, mmd is finished

  78. Senior Citizen and Katie good, here is a song for you:

    “Ala Chi Banda”
    “Iye”
    “Chiwelewele”

Ala chi MMD, Iye, Chi kabolala!

  79. VJ was in this game ever since i was born, a very usefull man at that time,if not of his bad acts he could have been occupying an international position representing mother Zambia, its like he is at it again, let him give zambian a breathing space this time, they need change.
