ZAMBIA Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Chriticles Mwansa told the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday that he does not condone violence and disturbances at the place of work.
Mr Mwansa said that is why he got concerned when it was reported to him that two senior ZRA officers had engaged in a fight within ZRA premises.
This is in a case in which dismissed ZRA assistant commissioner George Siame is facing one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 248 of the Penal Code Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that on November 30 last year, Siame assaulted ZRA director of human resources Roselyn Kaeli at Revenue House in Lusaka.
“I rushed to Victoria Hospital from my home during lunch time to check on the condition of Ms Kaeli. I went to the hospital in my capacity as ZRA chief executive officer after receiving information about the fight,” Mwansa said.
He told magistrate William Banda that he found Ms Kaeli’s face swollen and took pictures of her as part of evidence.
Mwansa said he was not bothered to check on Siame because he was reported not to be in danger.
He said he has much interest in the matter because it involves two senior officers at ZRA.
He said it was the first time a fight involving senior management officers had been reported in the institution.
Mwansa told the court that Siame was given an opportunity to exculpate himself against the charge.
And during cross-examination, Mwansa said as chairperson of the ZRA appeals committee, he had not been biased towards Ms Kaeli in handling the matter.
Mwansa said he signed Siame’s dismissal letter to confirm management’s decision that he had been relieved of his duties.

What LT shields writting on is the fact that Mwansa sweated in the dock because he failed to answer allegations against him which were very very true.
siame must be a PPFF member….LOl
Its interesting to know that Mwansa has now turned against George Siame. Anyway all lam interested in is seeing that monster called George Siame behind bars.
I feel Siame is an ***** whether or not he was angered by his fellow DR. How honestly can you fight at a place of work? He has tented his own reputation no company will be ready to employ someone with such a background.
What was the big problem? Am sure ni issue ya ma loving especially that the lady Director was junior to assistant commissioner, Siame. So obviously she refused to her boss. Obviously hahahaha
THAT IS WHAT YOU EXPECT IN A 3RD COUNTRY
The Director was not junior to Siame.
I don’t know what came over Siame considering that Roselyn is such a nice person, intact she’s on the far opposite side of Siame when it comes to humility so i guess on the other hand it’s not surprising.
george is george is george is a kick boxer. if someone messes up with him take care. he has a volcanic temper. i usually say my goodbyes in a bar immediately he pops in.
Mwansa seems biased against George.
#7 Violence at the place of work has nothing to do with being a 3rd world country. Here, time and again people have been shot and killed at work so I don’t get what you’re trying to put across.
I meant #6 in my number 11 posting
#3 i cant wait for the day george siame will be caged.the man is evil.he made our lives difficult in nakonde.
RB is to blame for Siame assaulting Kaeli.
#11, in the US of A they call it “going postal.” I don’t know where that came from but i think US of A is a first world(?) nation. Actually the countries referred to as first world are the third. African countries are the first. Africans need to claim that and begin to apply it in their daily talks.
I am surprised DejaVu sees it that way…not like him!
But what was the reason for Siame to have done that?? Infact it was not even a fight, i guess The DR was beaten in the office and not the other way round. If she retaliated then she should also face some disciplinary actions. Fighting in the work work is never allowed anywhere. So can someone help to tell the actual story.
