The MMD has said opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) members in Chifubu have decided to rally behind the MMD candidate in forthcoming parliamentary by-elections because they have realised that the ruling party is best-placed to meet their aspirations.
And Chief Mwanachingwala of the Tonga people has said the problems in the alliance between the Patriotic Front (PF) and the UPND provide another opportunity for the MMD to win the general elections.
MMD deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu said in an interview yesterday that friction in the PF-UPND pact will, however, not preoccupy the ruling party’s resolve to fulfill its promises to Zambians.
“We welcome the UPND support in Chifubu. Obviously, they have seen that we are a better alternative and we have a credible candidate,” Mr Nyangu said.
The UPND in Ndola have decided to rally behind the MMD candidate, Frank Ng’ambi, because they are unhappy with the selection process for the candidate to represent the PF-UPND alliance.
Mr Nyangu said discontented pact members are welcome into the MMD because that is where some of them came from.
He, however, said that problems in the alliance are inconsequential to the ruling party. Mr Nyangu also warned Kafulafuta Member of Parliament George Mpombo that he will soon get what he “wants” for his incessant attacks against the party and President Banda.
Mr Nyangu said imputations by Mr Mpombo that the MMD is celebrating problems that have emerged in the PF-UPND pact were just one of those unwarranted commentaries that Mr Mpombo has become synonymous with.
Mr Nyangu said the MMD Government is working on delivering on its promises to the Zambians because this is the platform they will campaign on.
“We will not exert our efforts on problems of the pact. There is nothing to celebrate. Our preoccupation is to provide the best service to the people and build MMD into a stronger political party,” Mr Nyangu said.
He said it was about time the party acted against Mr Mpombo because the people were fed up of his incessant attacks against President Banda and the MMD.
Mr Nyangu said the Kafulafuta MP should not beg the MMD for forgiveness when they take action against him.
Meanwhile, Chief Mwanachingwala has said the MMD will win the 2011 elections because UPND president Hakainde Hichilema ignored the “winning formula” they gave him before the 2008 presidential election.
Chief Mwanachingwala said Southern Province chiefs met Mr Hichilema in Choma and asked him to form an alliance with the MMD but he did not listen.
He said the idea was for Mr Hichilema to align himself with President Banda so that the UPND leader could be adopted as presidential candidate by the two parties either for the 2011 or 2016 presidential election.
“The problem is that he doesn’t want to listen to the chiefs. If God has not anointed you to be President, you just don’t listen to people,” Chief Mwanachingwala said.
He said all the major tribes should have an opportunity to rule Zambia because this can only be done on the platform of a political party with a national character.
The chief said the UPND asked for the problems they are experiencing in the pact because they asked for an alliance from a party which did not need them.
“Whatever stance Mr Sata has taken is okay. I have a lot of respect for Mr Sata because he did go to (Mr) Hichilema. It is (Mr) Hichilema who went (approached) to (Mr) Sata. We asked him to merge with President Banda he did not listen,” Chief Mwanachingwala said.
Meanwhile, ZNBC reports that over 30 PF and UPND supporters have defected to the ruling MMD in Kabwe’s Mpima township.
The opposition members defected at a meeting convened by Chisamba Member of Parliament Moses Muteteka. Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former PF Mpima Ward vice-chairman Deason Banda said he has decided to join MMD because the PF-UPND pact has nothing to offer.
[Zambia Daily Mail]
This is prostitution by UPND!
And Manjolo said the PF were not worried about the UPND’s insistence to contest in Longe Ward because the PF candidate, Wamunyima Kabanze, was a highly saleable one.
“Our friends, the UPND, are not campaigning. They don’t have any structures here. But they are trying to come up and base their campaigns here,” said Manjolo when asked whether they were campaigning together with the UPND. “At first we shared these wards. They took Mulwa Ward because in Luampa there is a member of parliament for UPND. They got Mulwa Ward and us we got Longe Ward but when we came for filing of nominations…we got surprised that what we had discussed to share these wards had not been honoured because they decided to field a candidate in Longe Ward.”
The UPND are fielding Kaoma District party…
f the pact breaks, Hakainde’s political party will truly shrink to a Bantustan. For Hakainde, this pact is everything because if it fails both himself and his party will be reduced to almost nothing politically.
The pact has given him and his party a new breath of life. He has benefited more from the pact than his partners. And he knows very well that without the pact, his political career has to be scaled down to probably that of a councillor in Monze.
Without the pact, Hakainde has no political future to talk about and hence the desperation. But he shouldn’t take out his frustration on us because he will be very sorry. There’s no need to pretend or to posture about this. Those with more to gain or more to lose need to put in more effort and care.
Posturing and blaming other people who have nothing to do with their pact will only help to accelerate the pace of their failure and not the strengthening of their much needed pact. With or without the pact, Zambia will continue to exist. What may not continue to exist is Hakainde’s dream to be president and his party to be in government.
The outcome of next year’s elections will have very little effect on our careers as journalists – whoever wins or loses, we will still be there practicing our journalism. Whether the pact succeeds or fails, we will still be there to practice our journalism. So we can’t be as desperate as they are.
We have a duty to the public to inform them correctly and truthfully. If our reports are incorrect or are not truthful, we have…
upnd prostitute prostitute indeed, first it was UDA now mmd.
Why cant you function on your own ?.Why do you have to joint other parties to function.?
I said in the Past that I the blame for the PACT’s failure or break up squarely lies on the head of the POST Newspaper and here is a quote from another useless editorial from Mmembe

The UPND/ PF pact was hurriedly conceived on a sandy foundation and what is now happening is not very surprising. It is interesting that even the new Conservative/ Liberal Democracts coalition government has growing hick-ups already.
this chief is ever hungry and drunk..forget what he says…
RIP PACT! MMD WILL RULE FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS,HH AND SATA ARE TIME WASTERS,THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR TAKING PEOPLES HOPES FORGRANTED.BETWEEN THEMSELVES THEY HAVE FAILED TO CHOOSE A LEADER OF THE PACT
Don’t celebrate on this yet. UPND members will not back any MMD candidate. MMD has more problems internally and just sitting on time bomb, while the pact has gone past that. Hakainde mentioned that no-one should think of breaking the pact, and it shall stand. The people spoke and change is coming, it’s day dreaming on the part of MMD to think they can get Chifubu. Viva PF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ZAMBIA: MMD CAMPAIGN VEHICLE SMASHED IN SIAVONGA
MMD WELCOMES UPND SUPPORT!
These are 2 headlines on today’s LT! I am confused is UPND really supporting MMD? I believe support or no support, MMD is finished! The clock is still at one o’clock and it is still a movement headed by UNIP! We are indeed back to UNIP ruling- why cant we have a one party state? PF is coming that why! VIVA LA PF!
The UPND/ PF pact was hastely conceived on sandy foundation and what is currently going on is not at all surprising.
Biblical principles for leadership
For those who aspire to be president know that leadership is:
1. A matter of time and chance
Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 states “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.”
2. Promotion is from God
Psalm 75:4-7 “I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck; for promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.”
3. It calls for humility—God rules in the kingdom of men.
Daniel 4:17 “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
Please fellow bloggers, don’t be fooled that the pact is cracking, it is once you read this(LT) mmd propanga machine! Full of Shty!
UPND president Hakainde Hichilema yesterday said he understood the frustrations those in the UPND are going through, especially with what was being written in the newspapers.
In an interview, Hichilema said the job of PF and UPND was to calm the temperature which had risen in the pact.
“That is why PF and UPND came together. It is not driving the agenda of Hakainde. It is not the Bantustans you people talk about there. No, far from it…sometimes we shall make mistakes, but it doesn’t mean when we make mistakes we must be shot dead by the citizens or by the media. We will make mistakes,” Hichilema said.
“But we also want to underscore the message that in the pact we want to make sure we all behave ourselves properly for the good of the people of Zambia, and nobody should beat down other people, and I mean nobody. Not the media, and repeat that, not the media, not ourselves towards each other. We need to act in a civil way,” Hichilema said. “There is no point using access to the media to go and tell half truths so that the media can beat down Hakainde. After killing Hakainde you realise I was innocent.”
Reminded that Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata reacted based on the statement he issued when he returned from the United States of America that he was the best candidate because he was young, Hichilema asked this author not to be biased.
UPND members are such political prostitutes.
I mean it is like this issue of Chadiza and Kaoma if we told you that the working group did not meet, some people will argue. If the working group met we would have resolved those problems,” Hichilema said. “But we don’t want to come to you and wash dirty linen in public.”He said earlier when he raised the issue that the working group did not meet, people thought he was bluffing and called him all sorts of names.“I don’t mind people rubbishing me because they have half truths. But I want people to appreciate that there are always two sides of the coin,” HH said Asked on the assertions that the pact’s failure to announce the presidential candidate was one of the issues causing problems, Hichilema disagreed with the assertions. “How can you choose a president if you…
Hichilema said if anybody wanted to break the pact on account of what happened in Kaoma and Chadiza then they were not sincere.
On the challenges on the Copperbelt, Hichilema said he had already given directives through the provincial party chairperson.
“If all goes well he is appearing at a rally with the campaign manger for the PF in Chifubu to indicate the pact position,” said Hichilema.
On Thursday, Sata demanded sincerity in the pact.
He said numerically, PF was the second-largest political party in Zambia, while UPND was the third.
Hakainde pleads with ‘media’ not to destroy pact
By Patson Chilemba
Hahahaha ,this is not new gimic,i once did it too, come elction time i voted for MMD and not UNIP .We are now civilised ,sink this into your head Banda………
The prolific Nigerian Igbo writer Chinua Achebe is the author of a well known novel entitled “Things Fall Apart”. This novel was followed by another “makali one” entitled “No Longer at Ease”. This order of novels seem to provide a classic precedent Mr Hakainde Hichilema happens to find himself in today, this is agony sure. If you read his cries in the Post of today, you would not help feeling why “chimukulu choonse kulila lila monga kamwana sure”.
On ““The problem is that he [HH] doesn’t want to listen to the chiefs.[..] If God has not anointed you to be President, you just don’t listen to people,” Chief Mwanachingwala said… all the major tribes should have an opportunity to rule Zambia because this can only be done on the platform of a political party with a national character,” I am very impressed with HH’s way of doing things but disgusted by chief Charles Malambo? Mwanachingwala over his very bad tribalism where he thinks the so-called minor tribes in Zambia should not have any opportunity to rule Zambia.
Mwanachingwala is a danger to the Zambian society and I implore any lawyers who are well-vested with the law to call for his arrest. Zambian must be ruled by any deserving Zambian.
_
Matt…
#22 continued Our Zambia must be ruled or presided as President of Zambia by any deserving Zambian regardless of his tribe as long as he/she meets the election of President requirements. The issue of only 7 or so major tribes giving chance to ruling Zambia is very bad since it discriminates against other Zambians who are not in any way lesser Zambians just because they are not Bemba or Tonga or Lozi, etc. by tribe.
This is why I support only competition through elections at party and country/National level as the best way to be inclusive of all Zambians.
Following the POST’s bad Editorial Comment and Headline “Sata called me an under 5 — HH” and UPND president HH’s responses to the POST reporter using his university education, its HH 1 – POST 0.
_
Matt 6:33
As a matter of fact, UPND president HH’s “The reason I came into politics was not to become president but to serve the people of Zambia” is not only HH 1 – POST 0, but a message to tribalists like Chief Charles Malambo? Mwanachingwala that UPND and president HH are not interested in getting Tonga by tribe HH to State House as Zambian President at all costs since the Tonga people of Zambia are a major Zambian tribe.
President HH has shown, by his statement above, that he is willing to serve in any capacity to serve the Zambian people. To me, HH has offered himself to be President of Zambia, Vice-President of Zambia, Cabinet Minister, MP, Councillor, etc. in our Zambian political dispension.
Thus, its
HH 1 – POST 0
HH 1 – Sata 0
HH 1 – MMD 0.
B blest…
To HH…Sir Fred dos’nt like you and you will never support your presidential ambitions not matter how good you be.
To Mmembe…No one can take away the good things you have done for this country but again you have unnessarily offended other people thru your biaseiness (sometimes)..anyone can see that your desire is to see to it that the PACT breaks beacuse you think PF can still make it on the own.You are not figthing any insjustice or telling the truth as you claim..if you were you would have written something about Hon Mushili just the way you have been writing about Katele and others,,if you wer you would written something about GBM”s tribal remarks during the campaigns,Chishimba kambwili,Namulambe,…..you have never criticesed Sata for refusing to hold a conference but you been on
Fellow zambians , country men and women what is this now happening in zambia? zambia twasebana..
now this is real playing! MMD if wins the 2011 elections then zambia is finished. the problem with us is that we easly forget the past..what does lupiya banda has done ever since he came muli ka office..the problem is that with ba MMD LOGIC is missing in their minds so …please fellow zambian lets put someone who is straight and logical.
the same,where is fairness?
UPND is now finished. It seems these guys have no ideas of their own. Plagiarism is their bread and butter as a matter of fact. Trying to cling to dead horses like MMD even when there is no blood to suck. They always want pacts to hind their inadequacies. Pairing up with MMD is the waste sin UPND can ever do because they will be bruised and they will be rotten and dead at the end of the day. Sata can win I tell you. Watch this space MMD/UPND pact will be defeated p.a.n.t.s down by the PF in Chifubu. UPND will try to come back to PF for another negotiation for a pact. Let them form a pact and they are dead and buried. Just imagine another 5 years of kubweza dziko kumbuyo by Bwezani- kaya. I may have to shift completely from Zambia until such a time…
Countdown continues for the PACT……
25 Annan, what’s new about mmembe, you were told countless times that his post is no longer the same respected Post that we all knew before 2008. The new post is just a bunch of misguided individuals (mis)using the newspaper’s good name built painstakingly over the 18 years to 2008. Muzi mvelela…..manje mwazionela….
‘He who thinks he leads and has no one following him is only taking a walk.’’Leadership is an opportunity to serve. It is not a trumpet call to self-importance.’ J. Donald Walters
Leadership is given by god not by BY FRED MMEMBE OR POST NEWS PAPER,if god annointed HH then no matter what the post will say he will rule Zambia.Even a person not normal can see that THE POST hate HH so much.Dear god help us on this ONE give US A TRUE leader for Zambia yourself NOT FROM FRED TRIBALIST MMEMBE AND his friend CHELEMBA ( BEANS) OR MR BEAN.If it is Sata well that will be all fine BUT REMEMBER You PF supporters you will not WIN North western Province without HH because of YOUR Kambwilwi Issues IF you WANT AFTER RETURNING CHIFUBU GONE ALONE LET US SEE.
okay
cOmEdY. Chief Mwanchingwala alias John Malambo is a comedian. He has proved this time and again. Who told him the MMD would have given HH a chance or backed him in 2016? On which party was HH to stand on? We all know in Zambia the party in Govt, when booted out or relinguishes power thats the end of it. So John Malambo is telling us MMD would have relinguished power to UPND and self destract??? Wishiful thinking, John Malambo should just keep quite, just eat what the MMD is giving you. ala.
This all propaganda, LT is a MMD mouth piece I have.Never do they look for any positive news on PF or UPND except negative news. Viva Pact Viva!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For hyenas to kill a lion they must not only fight as one, but must also stand firmly as one.
