Weekend Scorecard: Patrick Phiri, Simba SC Relation Sours?

Share

Ex-Zambia and Nkana coach Patrick Phiri’s future at Tanzania giants Simba SC is looking uncertain after he failed to return in time for official duties ahead of the 2010/2011 season.

According to Tanzania Daily News, Phiri, who revived Simba this past season and led them to the league title, has failed to report for pre-season training citing personal reasons.

“I have written him a memo to explain why we should not terminate his contract with the club as he seems not serious to honour his obligations,” Simba SC chairman Ismail Rage is quoted by the Daily News.

Rage told daily Times that Phiri had for the second time this year reported late for club duties after missing a crucial Dar-es-Salaam derby against Young Africans in April when he failed to return in time from his holiday in Zambia that Simba lost 3-2.

Phiri’ rejoined Simba last year after earlier leading them to the 2004 league title in his first and brief tenure.

Simba won the 2009/2010 title with a runaway 13-point lead over Young African’s losing just twice all season on their way to lifting their third crown in six years after playing under the constant shadow of their Dar rivals.

  1. Kalampa! Nkana still live and kicking! Kalampa my team what happened, in your glory days you never used to lose to teams like konkola blades. No matter how sharp those blades where we made them blunt. Kalampa what happened?

  2. What about the league table? It iz not strange for Nkana to be in the last six of the log, so just be courageous, live up to reality and show us the standingz. If Patrick Phiri haz genuine issuez to attend to, the best iz to effectively communicate with hiz employerz.

  3. Looks like indiscipline is a curse in Zambian football – Its either they report late for duty or sign multiple contracts.

  4. kalapa ma kula they just talk too much and violence…lets go zesco lets go congratulation coach fighton simukonda…atleast ba city you made da chilenje a bit happy

  5. This Guy was even our national Team coach when Mbesuma was playing at his pick?seems they are borrowed maners.

  6. Don’t criticise before getting the full story – has the owner of Simba indicted any late behaviour in their run-up to winning the league?? He is simply pre-empting the fall out he is having with PP!!

  7. Im so sure there are issues that have prevented Patrick Phiri from going back Dar-es-Salaam.Moreover,we are told that he informed club Officials that he would report late because he has Family issues, what more does that stupid Tanzanian Chairman of Simba want Phiri to do?.Employment is not slavery,Simba should appreciate PP more,if he ask for permission to stay away for a while, its guieninue,he has always done alot for that club.If they dont want him,Nkana will love to have him back because Patrick Phiri has always been a devil.
