City, Nkana Set For Woodlands Showdown

Share

Nkana visit beleaguered City of Lusaka looking heap more woes on their hosts and to extend their recent good run in coach Linos Makwaza’s first visit to Lusaka since his appointment last month.

New City coach Fewdays Musonda jumps straight into the heat of things with an emotional reunion with 7th placed Nkana in what is expected to be the big match of the weekend.

Musonda helped guide Nkana to promotion last season before being sidelined as the Kitwe sides return to top flight football was almost confirmed.

While Musonda has some personal scores to settle after his unceremonious exit from Nkana last year, he knows he must also win the hearts and minds at Woodlands fast on Saturday with a good start and display knowing very well that emotions are heavy in the air over the sacking this week of his predecessor Chris “Gaza” Tembo.

Furthermore, bottom of the table City are in desperate need of the three points and should brace themselves for Nkana who arrive with two wins on the trot under Makwaza.

The question is can City bounce back after losing 2-0 away last week to leaders Nchanga Rangers?

The odds favor Nkana who beat city 4-2 in the first leg match in Week 6 played in Kitwe although Makwaza has yet to win against his hosts since drawing 3-3 last season when he came to Woodlands with former team Forest Rangers in Week 26.

Meanwhile, Nchanga Rangers are also in Lusaka and looking to extend their stay at the top of the table for a second week in a roll when they visit Nkwazi at Edwin Emboela stadium.
