The late Gladys Mabenga Chitika daughter of Lands Deputy Minister Michael Mabenga has finally been buried at the Leopard Hill Memorial Park.

The burial which failed to take place on Tuesday was finally conducted after the family had a second and independent postmortem.

Family representative, Raphael Mabenga said the family is happy with the methodology that was used in the second postmortem that was conducted by a Russian Doctor at the University Teaching hospital (UTH) today.

He told a gathering at the burial site that the family is,however, waiting for the results of the postmortem which will be released by the Ministry of Health.

“We conducted a second postmortem today but the results are not yet released to us, we are told to wait for a go ahead on the results by the ministry of health. We are however happy that this has been conducted, we are happy with the methodology used and it was transparent” he said.

Mr Mabenga further disclosed that police have instituted fresh investigations into the matter adding that there was also a new set of police officers present to witness the postmortem.

Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Minister, Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha urged the family to look up to God saying the cause of death will be revealed.

He said although it was appointed for every person to die, it was saddened by the unexpected death of the late Mrs Mabenga Chitika.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha described Mrs. Mabenga Chitika who was an Executive Officer in his ministry as a dedicated worker and an asset to both the family and the government.

And President Rupiah Banda has sent a message of condolences to the Mabenga family.

The President said in a letter addressed to the family and read by Mabenga’s family spokesperson Colonel Patrick Lubinda that he was deeply saddened by the sadden death of their daughter.

And in a sermon at the church service at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus, Father Sylvester Ngandu called on people to have love for one another.

He said there are high cases of gender based violence, child abuse and the like because people have neglected the simple teaching of the Bible on love.

Fr Ngandu said the greatest tragedy that has befallen the human race is stopping caring and loving one another.

The late Gladys Mabenga Chitika is survived by a husband, and two children.

First lady Thandiwe Banda and wife to the Vice President Irene Kunda were among cabinet ministers, deputy ministers and other senior government officials who attended the funeral procession.

  1. Let’s wait for the ‘independent’ autopsy results so both the grieving family and husband to the late can finally have closure.

  2. #1, don’t even bother to wait because it will never be made public. Why? it’s no different from the previous one. Case closed.

  3. The Mabenga’s will just be embarrassed with their prefered autopsy.I hope they wont claim rigging this time.Somebody is in custody as they wait for Ministry of Health report.I have never health of an autopsy taken to MOH.

  4. why MoH?
Was it the same MoH staffer which did the first postmortem?
The results are the same as the first findings and officials are getting it abit diffucult to narrate the whole findings to the bereaved family so by buying time, it will be made known to them smartly.
Now, let the husband be released from custody and take up his role in society…he’s already accepted the foolish death of his partner. Gladys mabenga is waiting for GEHENNA…for her actions are abomination in the sight of heaven. He has committed an unforgivable sin and her probation was ceased for hell. God will never forgive suicide and if you are attempting to do such an action, then think twice about your spiritual fate.
Dear blogger, seek the lord when He’s still found for you shall have solace in His…

  5. It seems like the results they got in the first place are the same ones they got now thats why they don’t want to announce. They are embarassed that the first results were actually true and then they make the husband miss the funeal of his wife. they were making noise over nothing shame on them.

  6. You are all guessing, everyone should stop judging, it is easy to say the things you are saying because you are not related to the Mabengas, when it heats home you want the Truth, whether suicide or not one has to be sure. Can we all respect the dead and stop judging them especially that we are all speculating on an issue we do not hold facts to.

    Yes mwali ipela namachoito ka.

  8. I mourn with the family. But I have noted that Mabenga wants to exercise his MMD mentality by refusing that normal death cannot touch his family. Please Michael you are just as human as the next man. Don’t be like that tramp who refused to let go of his bundle when he was told that to enter the restaurant which was giving free food to the homeless he had to leave his bundles out side. He refused to let go opted to starve instead.

  9. Everything is comedy in Zambia. Why have they now decided to bury before the results are known? Is it because the second autopsy was done by a RUSSIAN DOCTOR? This is an insult to our Zambian doctors, no wonder they leave in large numbers to work abroad. If the Russian doctor’s results are still the same as the earlier report are they going to exhume the body?
The family spokesman says they are happy with the methodology, what does he mean?

  10. #15 Distant Drums – According to Mr. Kasonde Gen Secretary of Telecoms Union the reason why Zamtel was privatized is that there no Zambians who can comphrend the latest technology currently being applied in the world of IT and Telecoms

  11. WHATS WRONG WITH OUR LOCAL DOCTORS? MAYBE MR MABENGA COULD HAVE TAKEN HIS DAUGHTER TO SOUTH AFRICA FOR A POST-FIMOFIMO, WHERE THEY (RICH POLITICIANS) NORMALLY HEAD TO. THIS TOP GOVT AND POLITICAL LEADERS ARE FULL OF INFERIORITY COMPLEX OVER THEIR OWN PRODUCTS. HE THINKS A ZAMBIAN DOCTOR CAN’T DO THE JOB. WELL, SOME ZAMBIAN DOCTORS ARE EDUCATED IN RUSSIA.

  12. We still have congololise doctors in UTH and Russian doctors whichever doctor you chose is your choice . The issue is tha Zambian doctor who did the initial work was corrupt. we have been informed the ladys blood was found in the bedroom. we know the doctor used was related to the husband….problem with men battlers u like being dictators in your homes you think women are door mats. I love my woman i love my daughter, i love my mother only a fool beats up his wife.

  13. # 18
you are writing like you were there, what proof do u have that the 1st doctors were corrupt, You and I have no Idea of what happened in that bedroom and at the hospital when the postmoterm was being done, what we know is what we read in papers.

  14. Just suppose that the second post mortem results ‘indicate death by strangulation’, will the Chitika family accept. Which document will be admissible in court as evidence and how will a judge interprete the results of the two reports? What will stop the Chitika’s from questioning the integrity of the second doctor – given the status of Mr. Mabenga and his apparent influence as a high ranking political figure.

  15. #23 thanks for your sober analysis. indeed this is what happens in a country where proper procedures are not followed and people are so much into cutting shortcuts

  16. I only hope Chansa’s employers aint ticked off that much with all this negative publicity. And i also hope that after the dust has settled and he’s escaped jail he will sit down and reflect long and hard about his life. I know him he’s a nice guy but he’s a slave of the brown bottle together with his young brother. Its may be time he slowed down a bit, i can only assume his wife’s death had everything to do with his drinking habit. Epompelele.
