Libyan based player Felix Katongo will join the Zambia team in Tripoli ahead of Sundays 2012 Africa Cup Group C qualifier against Libya.

The midfielder plays in Libya for Al Ittihad is in the country for a family commitment and is expected to link-up with the team in Tripoli on Friday.

Zambia take on Libya in Tripoli on Sunday in both sides second Group C match.

Also joining the team in Tripoli on Friday will be 17-year-ol defender Emmanuel Mbola of TPO Mazembe in DR Congo who was denied a visa to join the team in Roma where they have gathered for a brief camp.

The Italian Embassy in Lusaka denied Mbola a visa because he was a minor and could not file in an application without his parents’ consent nor travel without a legal guardian.

Also joining the team in Tripoli will be Felix’s brother Christopher of Xanthi in Greece.

Kickoff for Sunday’s game will be at 20:00 Zambian time.

  1. This legal guardian reason does not make any sense. The young man was going to be under the authority of a FAZ official and Coach who assume guardianship because the parents have given consent to FAZ.

  2. Thats why I resigned, years goes by but player’s ages never change. Mbola started playing for Mining Rangers in 2004. So 2010 minus 2004 = 6 yrs. 17yrs- 6yrs = 11 years old?? What size of shoes was he wearing when playing when playing against Zesco, size 3??

  3. The Italian embassy can shove their visa. I cant understand why Mbola has been denied a visa when he will be under the custody of FAZ. Why have such unproductive diplomatic arrangements?? Its was ok for Wayne Rooney to go to Italy at the age of 17 and not an African

  4. # 3 its true. Most players use fake age. To me age reflects when one was born but 2 footballers its like when one starts playing football. How can this big guy be 17? Every year he’s 17. His age is constant. Can an 11 year play 4 mining rangers? Footballer’s age stinks

  5. When are we going to more constractive comments other then the age of Mbola
They are more important issues like what is the mode of players in the camp as they face Libya,
which player playing in Europe or about to break into Europe
