Zambia performs badly

The twenty two Zambian contingent may be heading back home without getting any medals from the on-going Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India due to poor performance.

Zambia’s hope for a medal now lies in bowling in which the team beat Canada 2-1 in the competition played on a round-robin basis after losing to Cook Island by a similar margin.

And Zambia’s last two boxers have been knocked out of the Games at Talkatora Stadium.

Boxer, Godfrey Mumba, popularly known as commando lost in the welterweight fight against Botswana’s Moabi Mothiba, while light-welterweight boxer, Martin Chibela lost to Lomalito Moala of Tonga Island.

Mumba lost 7-1 to the three-time Commonwealth Games participant while Chibela lost 6-4 to Moala in a bout that left the Zambian dissatisfied with the judges.

And swimmers, Milimo Mweetwa and Mark Thompson were also not successful in their quest to reach the semi-finals.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC Saturday by First Secretary for Press at the Zambian mission in India, Bwalya Nondo.

  1. Zambians, the real Africans! It is good to know that our boys and girls were in no danger of winning anything in true Zambian style.

  2. What a surprise? I thought we went for exposure than reaping medals . You can only reap what you sow.

  3. Poor performance….with two weeks preperation what do you expect? As for the two Zambian swimmers, under the circumstances…I can only say well done boys. Good job Zane for reaching the semi-finals. Mlimo and Mark, Zasu should have done better in preparing you guys for the games. Who was the coach again, oops sorry you had no coach.

  4. Thanks that GRZ sent the mother children for exposure only…..i know next time you win

  5. Like president Like Athletes. Travel for fun and get allowances ! Once the head is rotten the whole body follows suit. What a joke !!
