Zambia Slip To Third In Group C

Share

Zambia slipped from top to third in their Africa Cup of nations Group C qualifiers after losing 1-0 away to Libya this evening in Tripoli.

A 35th minute scissors kick settle the game after a swiping move with a ball delivered from the right wing.

This is after a good spell by Zambia that saw Rainford Kalaba breakthrough run saved and Noah Chivuta hit the right post.

Zambia returned from the break strongly but against the cutting edge with the best chance coming in the 74th minute that saw James Chamanga’s header saved from a Kalaba delivery on the right wing.

Libya who apart from the goal scorer looked average benefitted from some questionable 50-50 challenges that went their way in the latter part of the game.

Meanwhile, Libya and Mozambique share top spot on four points after the latter beat Comoros 1-0 in Moroni on Saturday.

Zambia’s next match will be at the end of March next year when they travel to Maputo to face Mozambique.

  1. So some people will be disappointed by this result, even when they knew the boys would not make it. Again the same stories: no the boys played well despite losing…bla..bla…bla…

  2. with the kind of standard of football on display against Libya today, third position is better than what we deserve…

  3. If parents always fight each other, kids do not do well because they seem to have no future or directions. FAZ is fighting and the boys can not just perform. Shame on FAZ

  4. I watched the game online. Zambia started off very well but as usually but poor finishing.Libya had one good chance, they scored and made it difficult for us to shoot at their goal. Especially that no play-maker.Anyway coach watch the game again and learn something from that it.

  5. Libya are not a walkover. In the last 7 years, they have only lost at home to Uruguay,Ivory Coast and Argentina. If Zambia has beaten such teams before then they performed badly against Libya. Otherwise, let’s accept that our team isn’t that good!

  6. At least in football it is reality that exposes weakenesses , if we had won, some politician would have claimed that it was because of the ”good” policies of the running party.Let us work hard otherwise we might not make it to the finals.

  7. Aah, Same old stories. Our overated comedian soccer stars despite sleeping in 5 star hotel rooms faile again and as usual to rise up to the occassion just like they always do. So no suprize for me about this result. Our away record very bad. This shows still that Zambia is an avarage team maybe less than that. But Zambians have so much hope int he team than the players themselves. Heish. next they should be sent to harsh camp sites say in Lilanda west to train harder or in the democratic republic of east-south Kalingalinga. Soccer pa Zed sucks!!! When is the coach resigning on his OWN!!

  8. #13 WE CAN, yes it’s true we are one point down from the top. But you should have concluded or finished the sentence that we also lost as usual away, that we are now third on the log in that group and that we wont qualify easily as it’s a tall order now.

  9. I waz hopping that we would qualify to the 2012 CHAN finalz without any mathematix involved, but oh my God! waz it a dream?

  10. with bonneti the coach who lives in italy he is never in zambia just like ka kalusha both absentee tenants not landlords

  11. There is a club called ROPS UNITED in FINLAND .Zed Saileti is the coach. There is a lot of zambians in that club and week in week out there are scoring goals for fun.One recent one was 7-0.They are top of the table .50% of these boys are zambians.FAZ cant pretend they have got no idea. This make me sick……….

  12. no need to blame the referee,ba zambia makula.why didnt they score and bloggers lets not fool ourselves at they played well.they did not and thats why they lost.fikala fyabo””

  13. My dear No.22…provided Kalusha is at the helm and he has no gift from the arrangment he will not make that move so let Zedi continue delivering oneday we shall remember him..where has Kalusha successfully coached o

  14. very good libya weldone.in zambian football there is a madness of selecting provinces.all players we have are from ndola, kabwe, lusaka luapula etc.no player from southern province.so god is not happy.this madness is also in the cabinet.no cabinet ministers is from southern acept this old man without teeth.for this madness no progress will prevail.we are going no where coz of this selection.

  15. #7 Dont care: Lol Ati when parents are fighting the kids dont do well because they seem to have no future or direction, as the case with FAZ and the boys. Anyway I still think there is a good chance for Zambia even though am disappointed.

  16. pipo look back,We oways lose some games in our qualifers and seem to lose hope. BUT We OWAYS QUALIFY this is no different. there are 4 more games coming. WEWILL LAUGH THE THE LOUDEST. CHEER UP.

  17. nothing to worry about..even better teams lose on their bad days..egypt,nigeria,algeria,tunisia has already lost in the qualifiers to botswana in tunis and i think losing sometimes is good bcoz its an eye opener about ur opponents….so libya is on ur breakfast menu come match day 3.

  18. Jacob Mulenga———James Chamanga——–

  19. you idoits are busy complaining and blame the zambian team for lossing an away game. the boys played really well, they did their best to try and beat libya but its was unfortunate that they were playing against 14players if at all you watch the game. the referrees were not doing a good job at all. they seemed as thou they were bought by libya plus those arabs dove a lot after they making the game to hard for zambia to win coz they got so many warnings.
by the way, you should know that always the home team has a very big advantage for any game they have at home, the fact that libya n zed have the simmilar quality of players zembia was beaten. peroid next please before you write a silly coment watch the game. PUNKSS

  21. you talking about ur national team as if it was brazil , this is not the first time libya has beaten zambia and it wont be the last .any way be humble lads every one knows that zambia is not ranked as the big teams like GHANA ,CAMERON,EGYPT,IVERY COAST. so take it easy.

  22. # 22 Please bring the ROP guys! They may just be the answer not that football I saw two days ago! It was pathetic! Zed Saileti please send us those players by P. No negotiations. The ones we have don’t know that bola is “Pela umunobe!” They just can’t pass the ball! The defenders also watch to see a Libyan guy go to kick and they just can’t go to the ball to defend! Kapambwe, John Mofya and Fighton were not watchers!
