LT Update- Sunday downtime

On Sunday afternoon , November 21st, from 13:06 hrs to 14:00hrs we experienced a technical problem that forced the site to go offline. The problem has now been fully resolved and we monitored the site the whole day on Monday and it performed well. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our Sunday bloggers.

We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we have noticed a doubling in Internet traffic during the run up to by-elections. In fact on the day of results anouncement, the site could not cope and we had to shut down certain features to just keep the site available.

Next year is a big year for Zambia, politically, and we anticipate heavy traffic during the 2011 elections season. Because of this we are making plans to change the architecture of the web site so that it is able to handle the spike in traffic that we expect next year. The consequence of this is that we shall be doing a lot of maintenance and upgrade work during the weekends of month of December. We shall schedule maintenance/upgrade plans from midnight to morning ZMT so that we keep the inconvenience of the downtime to a minimum.

Again we apologize for the inconvenience this will cause to our weekend night bloggers. This is something we must do. It is a necessary growth path for LT if we are to progress to the next stage.

Thanks for your understanding and support to LT

LT Team

  1. I wish The Zambian Watchdog could be giving notice to its bloggers of an impending shutdown as well.

  2. Good plan LT,,,,bravo! I can host your site during your maintance period,on one condition; NO MMD propaganda news till after elections,no Shikapwasha,ka Mulongoti(human centipede),no RB, or any mmd psychophants
if you breach the agreement,i take you to court and claim K1Billion in damages
Everyone is suing everyone, why cant I

  3. I am a Zambian Watchdog blogger. The difference between the blogs here and at Zambian Watchdog is that there are too many people who are merely contributing for the mere factor of posting stuffs without serious reflection. At Zambian Watchdog we are always giving information vital for fellow blogers. I am happy that Lusaka Times and Zambian Watchdog has given us more options than merely depending on The Post online, nomatter they are flaming Mwamba via getting at ZWD becoz they are scared of online competition, soon they will give a swipe at Lusaka Times-be ready guys with what you publish.

Im an LT fanatic, here we blog and sometimes let off some air and just have a laugh,no matter how bad your day has been, when you come to LT be assured to find a blogger who will lighten up your day and help you have a crack, life goes on.I personally think ZWD is boring
