Bonetti Salute Team

Share

Dario Bonetti has saluted Zambia’s team work in their 6-0 demolition of Somalia to reach the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup quarterfinals today in Dar-es-Salaam.

Bonetti said it showed with the performance of four-goal hero Felix Sunzu.

”When the team plays well they make the job of the striker very easy,” Bonetti told satellite TV channel SuperSport in a post-match interview.

The win sees Zambia top Group A on seven points and in commanding position to finish top of their pool thanks to their huge goal difference.

Sunzu struck in the 24th 27, 41st the third via a penalty and 50th minutes to secure Zambia’s passage to the last eight phase while Allen Mukuka added one in the 29th minute.

Zanaco striker Vanicious Mapande confined Somalia to an emphatic defeat with a downward header from a free kick in the 81st minute.

The quarterfinal matches will be played Tuesday and Wednesday.

  1. Does somalia have a football team? honestly this is the first time am hearing about them i only hear them about hunger and war..so probably they were hungry…so Zambia should not even feel pround about it…let them face teams we know…anyway its ok

  2. hehehehehehe FIFA just reiterated its support for Great Kalu and the team is performing wonders!!Haters must be suffocating with envy!!Viva Copper Bullets!!

  3. ok bonnet congrats but work had u hv not scored points yet to talk about like paulsen did..hey whats up with Clifford Mulenga?

  4. What time do that team they played train beacuse their country is in a state of war, let Zambia play a better team and you will tell me, i will be waiting to see insults flying on this site

  5. Kalu has nothing to do with this scoreline result. Zambia is certainly bigger than Kalu and will continue so long after he is gone.

  6. EYA MAYO. Somalia nayo ni team? this team is so useless. it can only beat the likes Somalia, Djibout and niger. tinasila.

  7. Is Somali a serious team? Our national teams fails to perform when it matters. Just lost to Libya when it mattered most.

  8. I think the first thing is that they have won well. Second the fifa has recorded that. Third Zambia was better than Somalia. Fourth Sunzu scored 4 and 5 Zambia has qualified to quarterfinal. I think the victory starts from the grassroot to top. Then we have all the reasons to say weldone Chipolopolo boys. Remember Ivory coast was humiliated. Let us all celebrate, if they had lost you would have laughed at them.

  9. Let me tell you all of you who just talk from the abstract. I watched that game with my two eyes. the chipolopolo yes did win well. but to tell you, Somalia is not a team to rejoice about winning. those Somalian guys were not in the game at all. infact there is no football in somalia. so do not rejoice at all coz zambia were not tested at all. the only time they were tested it was almost in. this is to tell you that if zambia meets a strong team especially with a sharp striking force, guys in zambia we have no defence. i watched that game so i know what i am talking about. Good results, though, work hard! there is still a long way to go.

  10. kawaile. thanks for that info. though it was reiterated by most bloggers.we always fall at the last hurdle as teams like uganda malawi have become formidable against the copper nuggets!

  11. # 9 Tanzania and Burundi play tomorow. Pipo win is win whether Brazil play Tanzania or Zambia play Somalia. Zambia did well. Somalia was beaten 3-0 by Tanzania and 3-0 by Burundi. for Zambia to score 6 it means they put their hearts to it and made us proud especially those of us here in Dar and watching the matches at the stadium. Go chips…..

  12. These are not matches to gauge what Bonetti is all about. To use this game to beef up his resume simply means he is scared of the likes of Cameroun, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Egypt…………..

  13. The Chipolopolo boys could still produce the results without Kalu nor Bonnet. Believe me as things stand in Zambia we don’t need to waste money on the foreign coaches. Its just that we have inferiority complex in us. Lwandamina could still produce these results. And to Kalusha’s cadres, what does that failure have to do with these results? Can you please itemize his input in these results?

Why did chipolopolo fail to beat lesser known Burundi? It jst confirms the caliber of a team Somalia is, nothing to rejoice about!

  14. Some chaps are very fun and one wonders wht kind of material they are made of surely for one to support Kalu the way # 1 has then they must smthing serious wrong with such a chap these are they some guys that call the current state at Faz as normal, lets us be pipo that read thru the lines . If Kalu was right RB would have supported him but has remained mute, i mean he has powers to sit down Kalu and Andrew but the way # 1 Simata is the SG so its logical that you shud no who is the boss to Simataa. Get the facts not just a stone thrower:-?

  15. Welldone guys, even in business it doesn’t matter how small a sale may be. A sale is a sale, welldone one again

  16. It really doesn’t matter who Zambia plays with and beats. If they won, let’s give them the pat on the back. Even big corporations like Zain(Airtel), or whatever they will be called next year despite recording hundreds of billions in monthly turnover still relyse on that guy on the street to sell the K1,000/- talktime. That is a sale, same as in footbal. On Simaata, please forget about the guy, he’s broke got nothing to write home about and now desparately needs a Job

  17. # 32 another Kalu whistle blower!!! Muzalila pantu even no the facts you are hiding when the deligation from Govt , Kamanga plus little known Galu head for Zurich, remember Uncle Teddy is Govt so wina azalila esp the one that missed a penalt and retired as bikiloni would put it HEHEHEHE>>>>>

  18. No. 27.
How foolish you are! If Zambia lost to the same team what would you say. Any team that is an affiliatte to FIFA counts

  19. The game was below the standards of the first one but Zambia proved they have better predatory instincts than rivals Burundi and Tanzania who cud only score 3 against Somalia.Zambia were guilty of slack ball control but Somalia cudn’t punish them. The happiness is not about beating Somalia but qualifying to Quarters. As for #29 who claims not to talk but is doing just that have some modicum of memory. Ever since Kalu left the team performance plummeted. One local coach got us eliminated from Natiions cup by Benin. Benin? Whoever heard of them in any finals? When Kalu played Zambia went up to no 2 in FIFA rankings on the continent and 12 globally. Whatever pipo want 2 say about him Kalu is great!

  20. # 29 Nshilandalanda: what a contradiction, you say zambia does not need foreign coaches, what are you doing in the foreign country? it is coz what you are seeking in that country is not there in zambia or it is there but below standard. the same applies to coaches. we have couches in zambia but they are below standard. so if you inssist we don’t need foriegn coaches then you also do not need what you are pursuing in the foreign counrty.

My only comment about foreign coaches it is that do not pick any foriegn person you suspect can be a coach no! go for qaulity. get people like we had in 1994 Paulson or even go for the kind of coaches you find in Laliga, Premier, Bundasliga, Seria etc. it is high time we go for those guys. i know u’ll think that im clazy but its true.

  21. Whatever the case Zambia won. You people making noise and think Somali is not a team to boast about, why did you not speak out that Zambia should not participate in the competition? Whatever rubbish you may say we have won and it took hard work from the players, the technical bench and indeed the football administrators for the team to win. Congrats guys and keep it up.

  22. No. 35 – Simaata was fired about 5 years back due to non performance. He knows no one can employ him, he lost to Munaile in 2008 as faz vice, and now wants to use Kamanga to offer him a Job, he desparately needs one.

  23. No 33 – Not sure while you’re involving Mulonga into this. The last time I checked he lost to great Kalu in 2008, FIFA will take anything coming from him with a pinch of salt. I indicated this earlier in the week, but Kamanga from Enfin solutions, Katemo Road, in Lusaka and Kalu are childhood friends. Oh Kalu usually has dinner in Kamanga’s house in Ibex Hill when he’s in town. These two cannot be at loggerheads, I will end there but with Kamanga been there head, only simaata and yourself stands to loose. Kamanga is there to cool things off for Kalu.

  24. Well done Chipolopolo boys, keep it up but dont go to slamber.See a montain ahead of you which you need to climb.Dont look at names like Tanzania,Burundi and the rest to be small, they may bring shame if not handled well.

  25. #38 Kawaile:
You are missing my point. Which one would be more cost effective and sustaining – training our local coaches in foreign institutions or bringing foreign nationals here and produce almost the same results? GRZ has sent me here in a foreign land to get my education and go back and work in Zed, which is far much cheaper than hiring an expatriate. Besides, there is no better way of empowering local coaches than giving them jobs! So my campaign is employ the local coaches, train them if they are not competent, empower them, dont waste money on ‘not so impressive’ foreigners!!!!!! We dont need to pay someone an upward of k100m to beat Somali, neither do we need selfish and uneducated Kalu!

  26. Iwe Ziku #21 this cecafa is not under FIFA calender. Blatter does not even know that it exists just like cosafa: so how can they record the win??? secondly cecafa is good for us because we always use our team B while other teams with most of their players ploaying locally they take team A. so this is a proof of our superiority. and its good for young talents to prove themselves.
