Patriotic Front Nchanga Member of Parliament Wilber Simusa has charged that the MMD is desperate to hold on power.
Mr. Simusa said that it is quite unfortunate that the MMD is claiming to be in talks with the UPND over the alliance between both parties.
He said that he has had interactions with the UNPD members and they have denied having talks on the perceived alliance with the MMD.
Mr. Simusa said that the UPND knows that the MMD is a sinking ship and they can’t associate themselves with the UPND.
Mr. Simusa in an interview with QFM radio added that the MMD will stop at nothing to destabilize the Pact.
He said that the MMD knows that it will be out of power next year and it is desperate to hold on to power.
He said that it is the reason that the MMD has started the propaganda of saying that it is holding talks with the UPND on the possible alliance.

I think Mr Simusa is right with his observation. Why is it that the two cousins VJ and Daniel Munkombwe in the fore front in campaigning for the formation of MMD/UPND pact? If you carefully retrace the political path these two gentlemen have passed you will realise that they have been sent by their master, RB who is very worried about his future. MMD is for sure a sinking ship and if HH makes a mistake of going to MMD, he will never rule this country and UPND will be no more.
MMD is alreadty in power and has inbuilt capacity to consolidate that power. Simusa is no politician to understand politics. Sata tired of being rejected 5 times on th eballot is the one desperate because he doesn’t know his fate still. Point of desperation is in his promotion of homosexuality, secession of Barotseland from Zambia now disowned by the Barotse seccessionists, concessioning of entire Luapula land to Taiwanese and South African apartheid Boers, his allergy to intraparty democracy 11 years on no convention or contest for the party presidency besides collecting money from drug dealers.

The Barotseland Freedom Movement (BFM) wishes to respond and correct the statement in the Sunday Post of November 28, 2010, attributed to Mrs. Grace Muyangana, BFM National Coordinator. The Sunday Post reported Mrs. Muyangana as having said that the BFM had invited the Patriotic Front (PF) President, Mr. Michael Sata, to camp in Barotseland for the purpose of campaigning for the restoration of the Barotseland Agreement 1964.

The BFM reiterates its position that no invitation of the sort had ever been extended to Mr. Sata or anyone else outside the BFM.
The BFM does not need Mr. Sata’s services because their two organizations’ objectives are parallel and there is no point of convergence in sight. In fact Mr. Sata is the last person the BFM can turn to for sympathy or otherwise because he was there in the Zambian government when the Agreement was abrogated in 1969. Why didn’t he raise an objection against the abrogation? Why did he wait until 2010 when he is campaigning for his 2011 Republican Presidency?

PF thought they could win alone. When was the last time the PF talked about the PACT. Today they want to fool pipo that they are in the pact. Its good that upnd is quiet and busy campaigning even if they are not covered by the media. Time is drawing near we shall see u (pf). mmd will make sure the constitution hammers u hard. WP is voting milupi in 2011. SP going to HH and WP going to milupi leaves MMD in a very tricky situation. This explains their desperation.
UPND if they are people’s driven party with strong UPND principles and hoping to save the people of Zambia they should learn a lesson from Nevers Mumba and his party how he was treated after he made an alliance with MMD, He was welcomed by Mwanawasa and appointed as veep, he made a a mistake in his speech in congo and he was sucked by Mwanawasa and MMD.Since that time Nevers Mumba lost popularity and he ended up losing all his party followers and the party collapsed, he was treated like trash. So if UPND thinks they will make it having an alliance MMD in next election that will be the end of UPND and they will regret it.
Zambian politics are encoding more and more regional overturns. The 2011 election will really put to the test the “One Zambia One Nation” motto. Whether we remain a unified state after the 2011 elections is increasingly becoming a difficult question to answer.
My advice to UPND, if they are not happy about Pact with PF, they should stand on their own feet in next years election come up with good campaign strategy and convice Zambians that they can win without making an alliance with any party. Otherwise UPND will cry fool dealing with MMD crooks,coz UPND wont be recognise by sturborn MMD members. Prove it that you can without an alliance.
mmd thru vj said upnd stand a chance to be in plot one in 2016-(and not 2011). If what is going round about the alliance between upnd and mmd is true what makes hh and upnd believe that hh will be president in 2016? In mmd he will never even be anywhere near the presidential portfolio. If upnd can buy that then they are nothing but a bunch of fuuls. Judging by the recent by election results, it will be difficult for PF/UPND pact(which I dont beleive will be there by election time) to beat MMD. It is definately wishful thinking to say that MMD is a thinking ship. WP province will vote for MMD and not Milupi. Milupi is popular in Luena. Anywhere else he is not known. It is just like Katele who cannot be beaten in Chiengi by any party but may not influence the whole province to vote for his party. Lozis are intelligent and sensible people. They will see the development taking place now (sesheke and kalabo Roads, schools and hospitals) and think a bird in hand… There is nothing wrong with MMD being desperate to hold on to power. MMD has tasked veteran Mwanga to come up with a master plan to confuse PF and UPND voters as a way to gain more votes. Read history and uinderstand how political parties are technically consumed and later dump at political graveyards. It would naive to think MMD has the interest of UPND. It is simply caring for its own interests. UPND joining MMD would be the worst political suicide. Viva UPND viva political maturity. Abash!! MMD with its kneeling culture.
HH & RB should work together for the sake of development. These pipo can development Zambia. It’s better for HH to work with RB as the two talk about development not just money in the pockets without telling em how they will have that money.
Bottom line: does the PF/UPND Pact still exist?
On the other hand I detect a sense of desperation in PF that if they lose UPND, then the door to Plot one is forever shut for the old man. But then they have already lost UPND because of overconfidence and unchecked language. The Post has sealed it all. Whether UPND goes into an alliance with MMD is now inconsequential for the rsults of 2011. But as all political parties do, MMD probably does not not mind a few extra votes even if victory has already been assured. A clear landslide majority would also avoid the Ivory Coast circus.

26 and others: Nevers Mumba was not destroyed by the MMD. He had no party to speak of when Levy appointed him Veep. Check his performance in one Presidential election I can’t remember which but probably 1996 or 2001. Read how he started his politics before you mislead innocent people with your half-knowledge or downright ignorance.
HH go ahead and form a pact with MMD, then wait for 2016.You will meet the following people in the MMD ring, Maurine Mwanawasa, Kavindele, Mutati and Shikapwasha.Assuming you remain true to the PF pact and allow Sata to rule, you have no one but yourself in the ring.Both PF and the Zambian people will unanimously support you in 2016.

People had so much faith and trust in mmd but what have they done? VJ, as a master political strategist, knows very well that the rank & file members of UPND do not trust Sata/PF. He knows that PF/Sata or UPND/HH can not win next year’s elections as individual parties. VJ knows that the heart of MMD support is Eastern Province and going by the 2006 elections the Easterners voted for HH & LPM in equal numbers. It’s, therefore, logical for UPND to go into an alliance with MMD since their sopporters can be trusted to vote for HH in 2016 & also RB has only one term remaining. VJ has initiated a political end game to force UPND grass root supporters to twist HH’s arm & go into an alliance with MMD. Like it or not this is a strategy that is likely to work whether HH likes or not. Politics is like a game of chess & Mwanga is a master at this game!!
I think the rank & file of the UPND are actually in bed with the MMD and it is understandable for HH to deny this elopying for now, but just for now. For the UPND they now know the devil in PF. Their MP`s haev also wisened to the fact that HH will not be President with the 2011 elections , so its a question of holding on to their respective seats and who can sponsor an incumbent MP better to retain his/her seat than the MMD. This stems from the fact that HH will not produce so much cash for his MPs campaigns next year, coz he also knws that he aint winning.
