FLASHBACK: Northern province Minister John Chinyanta dancing with women during the World Tourism day in Kasama

Government has assured Chiefs in the country, who have not yet been given their utility vehicles, that they will soon receive them.

Northern Province minister made the assurance recently when he paid a courtesy call on Chief Shi-Bwalya Kapila of Bemba speaking people in Mporokoso District.

Mr. Chinyanta said government has procured a new fleet of vehicles to be distributed to traditional rulers’ who did not benefited from the first consignment.

He appealed to the traditional rulers to be patient as they will soon receive their vehicles to enable them to monitor various developmental projects taking place in their chiefdoms.

Mr. Chinyanta explained that President Rupiah Banda’s administration wanted to uplift the welfare of chiefs in the country by making transport readily accessible to them.

He urged Chiefs to look after the vehicles, which government is buying at great cost, properly.

The Minister further stated that Government is addressing the challenges that have laid to delays in paying Chiefs’ their monthly dues.

And speaking earlier, Chief Shi-Bwalya Kapila appealed to government to speed up the process of procuring his vehicle, which he said has taken long.

The traditional ruler said while other Chiefs in the country have received their utility vehicles, he has not yet received his from government.

  1. BS for what reason giving these selfish fo-ols cars? No wander this stu-pid country is poor like hell spending tax payers money on selfish chiefs than hospitals, schools, roads, housing, water, small businesses not utu ntemba but real business. Shame on you MMD and your followers.

  2. Let these lazy fu.c*3## chiefs buy their own cars, are they babies on welfare or handicapped that they have to be taken care off. Since they are so called chiefs, why dont their loyal subjects pitch in and buy them cars. Africa is so retarded & no wonder it remains backward, as #2 stated, instead of spending these resources on schools or healthcare, we are busy appeasing grown a.s.s people. This c.ra.p is so played out, no wonder Julius Nyerere did away with this tribal nonsense at independence…

  3. Chiefs in Zambia are not necessary at all. Their role in national administration is totally misplaced. They only serve to promote trabalism, more so that they are being given more political clout. In a few years time we will realise what a tragedy for our nation this institution is. We need to appreciate the fact that we are now a nation, not a group of cheifdoms. It is time to either manange or abolish this institution.

  4. Political move to win support from chiefs by the MMD. Politic gymnatics and blind following in Zambia has led to the countries down fall. It just sucks to see these i.d.i.o.t.s doing this nosence.

  5. Its just another empty political statement. These Pajero and Surf vehicles are bought for the Chiefs as a LOAN to them at less than $4k, with no duties paid on them. its nothing worth talking and writting home about.

  6. #4 maybe $4k is tiny to you but it is a fortune to a poor villager in zed.I would rather see the $4k spent on several more teachers or medicine than a figurehead with no formal training in public administration and has only regional tribal interests.
Anyway, why so many unneccesary and overlaping positions?Permanent sec’s,province ministers, tribal chiefs, district commisioners et al.No wonder zed is poor.

  7. THis confirms to us how poor is our govermt administration,,, Coz if chiefs were paid enough their monthly dues they can buy cars for themselves,,,, For along will you keep on buying cars for this useless old men,,, It’s high time in zambia chiefs became self sustainable. And RB if you need chiefs to become political instruments send them to schools otherwise let them do their duties to keep tradition and culture in their doms.

  8. corruption…………..corruption……………….corruption………..corruption = zambian constitution….:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((
