Donor countries are advocating regime change’ – Chifire

Share

The Committee of Citizens has alleged that it is aware of maneuvers by some donor countries advocating for regime change by working towards forming a parallel organization that will work alongside the existing Zambia centre for inter-party dialogue (ZCID).

Committee Executive Director Gregory Chifire told Qfm that a new organization that would be called National Institute for Democracy (NID) is specifically formed to coordinate funding of Anti Government NGOs and political parties opposite to the ruling MMD.

Mr. Chifire has disclosed that that the opposition political parties referred to as opposed to the ruling MMD are the UPND /PF.

He said according to the information he has gathered, the new organization would be funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) adding that the opposition political parties will be getting money alongside conventional Civil Society Organizations.

Mr. Chifire has alleged that the motive behind DFID to fund the NID is targeted at the Rupiah Banda led government after the failed ill conceived corruption fight against Second Republican President Dr Frederick Chiluba.

He said some individuals at DFID have a borne to chew with President Banda for refusing to accept their demands.

And Mr. Chifire has challenged those he alleges to be involved in the ploy to come in the open and explain why DFID wants to fund another organization to champion democracy when there is already another organization formed for the same purpose.

He said his organization would continue to hold the view that the motive by DFID to fund the NID is founded on ill motive unless it is convinced that the formation of NID is necessitated by failure of ZCID to perform.

Meanwhile, Zambia Center for Inter-party Dialogue has dismissed Executive Director Chomba Chela has dismissed Mr. Chifire’s assertions as false.

Mr. Chomba has told Qfm that ZCID was created to promote, defend and consolidate democracy in the country and that he will not agree to such assertions.

  1. Chifire l.i.t.o le.Don’t listen uch an empty tin.He has nothing to say.He is there to support MMD,a party thathas brought a lot of misery and hardship in the country through its bad policies.Chifire is a last person to talk about real issues in the nation because he has been purchased by MMD.The organisation,he is leading,is being backed by funds from MMD.It is a bogus organisation which has created a lot of confusion in the opposition camps. That Chafire should be told in no uncertain temrs that his time is numbered. His organisation will be abolished should there be change of government. We are sick and tired of his directionless rantings. He pants like a prostitute who has failed to make money during a night spree. His organisation is a disgrace to modern politics.

  2. And what is wrong with regime change if done peacefully. Governments come and go and Chifire should leave such a decision to the voters. If his organisation is being funded other people are at liberty to form similar organisations and receive genuine funding…GROW UP CHIFIRE!!! and also MODERNISE YOUR THINKING….the days of WAMUYAYA are long gone!!!

  3. The western world always wants to make sure African nations doing good are supressed and brought backwards through regime change or wars. We still remember their SAP which failed to work for them recently in this global crisis. Meanwhile China has been busy stealing their fishing ground but with a better approach towards African nations.
We already know Sata’s CV – Kaponya through and through with a mountain of court cases.
It can not be compaired to RB’s – best ever President Zambia has had just from the last 2 years
Maybe HH without experience would have had a chance but the young man is too inexperienced to make a pivotal decision.
Donors – YOU CAN PACK YOUR BAGS AND GO. It used to be physical slavery and now you are trying to use capital slavery. TAKAWBA

  4. Absolutely nothing wrong in coming up with an organisation that will help with getting MMD out of govt. I hope there could be more such NGOs

  5. These donors are getting me upset.
Its like they have seen another family which was poor and now doing well and then they go in to sleep with the wife just to bring confusion to their benefit.
Bring in new govt, make new deals (agreements) to further constrain the govt and dont forget new govt has to pay back the money donated for campaigns. Its like a bet.
Fellow Zambians – THERE IS NO FREE MONEY.

  6. Why is the term “regime change” wrong in pea brain head like Chifire? Zambia is a democratic country and democratic regime change is part of democracy. Don’t mislead people with inflammatory terminologies. Donchi Kubeba!

  7. With or without this BUNGWE talking, REGIME change is coming to this Country this year. We cannot have thieves Kafupi, Xavier Chungu, RB continually stealing from us. We are sick and tired of this bullshit which we cannot stomach anymore. VIVA PF/UPND Pact, were slowly matching on to form government next year.

This has nothing to do with pan africanism, a THIEF IS A THIEF who has to be JAILED AT ALL COSTS

  8. No 3. you are being racist what has scottish or irish got to do with matters at hand. read the article properly and make positive contributions plse.

  9. Chifire should shut up. He is talking too much for his own health. He shouldn’t imagine that Zambians are stupid. Why is he talking about opposition political parties, who is funding HIM and HIS stupid NGO? I suspect Chifire is on drugs!!!

  10. It is not donors that will effect regime change, it is the Zambia if they so wish. No one should be jittery over such moves. The MMD has some incumbecy privilidges that other parties do not have and it would not be a bad idea to level the playing throug donors supporting opposition parties with some resources. It will not only strengthen our democratic process but also lessen the strain on political individuals supporting political parties

  11. #3 is still gay and taking up relevant space on the net. contribute some meaningful s.h.i.t. to the blog or be a backbencher and observe silently.

chifire or cifire whatever the name is, is literally kissing bwezi’s boots no doubt about it. I’m sure if we analyze his background properly’ we shall find a link between him and the minister Angela ( they must be married or something but he definately is doing his best to make sure the supply of bread to the table is not interrupted)

  12. Shut up you silly boy Chifire! This Chifire boy is an MMD chola-boy and has been receiving donations from them for his MMD positive propaganda.

  13. With or without donor funding change must and will come to zambia.Rupiah is nt a bad guy as such bt the mmd is.mr. Cifire, what exactly does yo org. do?

  14. Which country is this DFID from ? Maybe i’ve missed something in the article , otherwise it’s poor reporting.

  15. Come the revolution, this guy should be taken out at dawn and castrated. He is too stupid to be allowed to procreate.

  16. #14 hey whats wrong with asking if someone is irish o scotish?am a resists,i hate white people they r dirty fickers

  17. @#20 SITH – DfID is UK Government Aid, they have given maybe hundreds of millions of pounds to Zambia since 1964 asking nothing much in return as far as I know, and now Chifire is whining imagine

  18. Zambia must be seen to be exercising her inalienable right to self determination as enunciated in the UN Charter: the right of our people to freely choose their own leaders. This must be done without any manipulation by powerful donors through the use of internal conduits called non-governmental organisations that wear a humanitarian cloak while bent on preying on the vulnerabilities of poor people. Most of leaders of the local NGOs are only there in advancement of their self interests.

  19. #23 “Britain is asking for nothing in return”, are U sure??? Why did they fund the prosecution of the matrix??

  20. People condemn NGOs helping opposition political parties but smile and laugh loudly for MMD to use money from mine companies, govt cofers, China, indian businessmen just to mention a few. It is right for the MMD but wrong to the opposition to have donor support. Get your life sorted. If you are in foreign mission as a cadre prepare for your journey back home. MMD will be out of power. investigate the opposition political leaders for money laundering when other ministers have 600 million in their bank accounts. Cifire is a black skull of pre historical politics.

  21. #26 I don’t know, why do you think they did that, trying to rip Zambia off? asking for the money to be given to… erm… back to the Zambian people? Or were they asking for the money to be given to UK?

  22. rubbish. It’s Zambians that want peaceful orderly and timely regime change. Stop blaming donors. which ones in any case??? The donors live withing us, with us. They see degrading of quality of OUR lifestyle of Zambians, the sufferings the theft of Donor money etc.

So dont blame donors when it’s Zambians for Regime Change.

  23. Chifire is a liar. That information ‘according to his findings’ is lies

He lied about having some info on the Task force chairman ‘s ;etters to be released in 48 hrs, it never happened

He lied about donors meeting he claims he had evidence and advocated that some consulaars will be ‘dealt with’ in his eyes

He has no credibility, and I dont know what his prganisation does but he makes noise and

    he should tone is down

    Thanks

  24. This chap should come and spend a weekend with my 2 year child and I assure you he will learn one or two sensible things, otherwise what comes out of his mouth is vomit of a dog

  25. I know this guy, he used to be at CBU and never made it past 2nd year… always lost the COBUSU elections, tried to stand for Riverside Councilor and only got his vote… Total failure and empty head, if he has one. Atleast he’s making a living peddling MMD lies
