Share

Lusaka Province Minister Charles Shawa has donated food stuffs and blankets to the People of Shiali in Kanakantapa area of Chongwe District whose homes were set ablaze by an angry mob from surrounding villages.

The compound was set ablaze following allegations that the locals who are members of a named religious group practice satanism and terrorise villagers.

Buildings such as a community school, a church and about 20 houses were destroyed in the inferno.

Speaking after the donation, Mr. Shawa condemned the action by the culprits and called on Police to arrest them for taking the law in their own hands adding that Government made the donation after all the members of the religious group had been left homeless.

He called for the need to counsel the leader of the religious cult failure to which police must move in.

The Minister said although allegations of Satanism have been leveled against members, they do not deserve the punishment they have been subjected to.

Mr. Shawa also called on the leader of the named religious group to be living in peace with neighbouring villages and cooperate with Government in various development programmes.

And Chongwe District Commissioner Japhen Mwakalombe said the problem started when religious group imposed rules on the people in surrounding areas among them not to plough without approval of the religious leader.

Mr. Mwakalombe who is also Chairperson for the District Disaster and Mitigation Committee (DDMC) said the religious group refused to be counted during the last national census and also refused to seek medical attention whenever they fall sick.

  1. when i was growing up the ‘church’ was a place to pray to God and humble thyself! Today the .church’ is the place of all evil, many morden churches are louder than chibuku tarvens, if you live close to one all you hear is people shouting all night long as if possesed by evil spirits, i find it hard to believe that any of these churches are up to any good. Hopefully not everyone will be brainwashed and lured into these so called churches where the devil himself is at center stage, Zedians watchout you dont fall in this evil trap called the ‘church’ some people will do anything for these churches including abandoning their own babies and parents just because the church has branded them as evil witches!! as if all that is not enough the church wiil chop all you money.

  2. Churches nowadays are money making machines, especially the Pentecostals. They collect a lot of cash but the don’t do any community work. There bishops are driving hummers, have bought planes, building nice houses alone Tabo Mbeki road and the poor church members continue giving tith. Its better to give money or support to a street kid than giving to a pastor who live a luxurious life. Shame on you pagans.
