Sata implicated in abduction

Share

Samson Zulu, one of the founder members of the Patriotic Front (PF) has written to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to have the PF leader Michael Sata and two others arrested for having allegedly masterminded his abduction and harassment in June 2009.

Mr Zulu said in a complaint letter to the DPP that there were omissions in the case he reported to the Zambia Police Service on June 5, 2009, after his traumatising abduction, assault and humiliation which happened on the same day while he and his colleague Mubanga Chileshe were addressing a Press briefing at Courtyard Hotel.

According to a letter dated February 7, 2011 obtained by the Times of Zambia, Mr Zulu said he wanted justice to prevail by arresting and prosecuting Mr Sata and others.

He said following the conclusion of two court cases involving The People Vs Judge Ngoma and others unknown and The People Vs Anshell Kampengele, George Lemba, Francis Mumba and others unknown in which the four of the seven accused body guards of Mr Sata were convicted and sentenced for assaulting his colleague and himself, it was now time to arrest the master mind.

“I submit that the other two, Roy Mulenga Kasama and Clement Nchinga have not been brought before the courts of Law together with the master mind of this whole crime Mr Michael Chilufya Sata and other known senior party officials,” he said.

Mr Zulu said that facts before the police and the courts of law are that he was assaulted and abducted from Courtyard Hotel and bundled and delivered to a place he came to know as the national secretariat of the PF along Luanshya Road in the light industrial area of Lusaka before Mr Sata.

Mr Zulu said it was at this place that Mr Sata ordered the abductors to continue beating him while he and other senior party officials kept on interrogating him to reveal the sponsors of the Press conference.

“Your honour, there is adequate facts and material evidence both with the police and courts of law which you may wish to evaluate as regards my complaint to your office in the matter,” he said.

He said Zambia was about to hold tripartite elections this year and as a victim of politically motivated violence, he could not sit idle and watch the vice escalate to unprecedented levels.

He said he was scared for his life and had reported the matter to police.

“Mr Sata is a senior citizen and political leader in Zambia, and, therefore, must lead by example and not the one syndicating such crimes which undermine the very fabric and fundamentals of this young democracy.

“I wonder what will happen to this country if by default he rigged his way to power using violence. I, therefore, plead that with you and other relevant authorities for the sake of posterity to ensure that justice is applied firmly and fairly without discrimination to all despite one’s standing in society,” the letter to the DPP read.

Mr Zulu has also written to Police Inspector General (IG) Francis Kabonde on the need to arrest Mr Kasama and Mr Nchinga for the offence of assault.

Mr Zulu in a letter dated January 14, 2011 to Mr Kabonde said the two suspects who were on the run had been spotted in Lusaka town centre on many occasions and that police had also been notified on the development.

He said he was disappointed that no arrest had been made.

  4. From an chachacha independence colonial informant to a homosexual campaigner, to a secessionist now terrorizing pirate through abductions. Shame on Satana.

SATA IS GOING TO STATE THIS YEAR MR ZULU BECAREFUL, DO NOT INVITE PROBLEMS

  7. If this was true then, I can only imagine how the monkey’s govt would picked it up and made sure that sata was nailed in record time.

Govt never learns that persecuting innocent people just turns them into heroes and not desperadoes

  8. RB, MMD above rivals

AT the parting of social roads stand two adages of antiquity. Both say the same thing, yet one looks at reality from death while the other employs life as a teacher of wisdom and reality.

How instructive when one studies this in the mirror of Zambia’s current affairs!

“A prophet,’’ as the Bible say, “is with honour except in his home country and among his people.”

This is a truism that finds no credible or indeed plausible disputant. It is doubtful if time will change this dictum even in the face of advancing science with human civilisation in tow.

It is a motif that will outlive time. The second proverb, loosely translated from Zambian folklore, says death admits no ill repute. Many readers can no doubt identify with this.

  9. The living side of this adage is seen more poignantly at funeral and burial services of people everywhere and anywhere in Zambia and beyond the shores. No one dares to speak ill even of the ill-deserving, nay hell-deserving, societal misfits.

“It is taboo to speak ill of the dead,” my octogenarian grandmother would always implore us in those days when our tender minds where receiving guidance and formation for life’s journey ahead.

Even lizards tended to stand still whenever the topic of the dead came up. Only the good was sung while the bad and the ugly were hushed away into the pale and oblivious.

The lessons in the morals of the sayings aforementioned are written in bold and underlined letters wherever and in whatever direction one looks today in Zambia and further afield.

  10. Just look at how many people lately have been queuing up singings praises of the legacy and leadership of the late president Levy Mwanawasa! Indeed may his soul rest in peace.

Here was a man whose political adversaries took turns to spite and throw mud at. Nothing that he ever did met their approval.

Even when he offered them help in their hour of dire need, Levy’s nemesis frowned upon him, choosing deliberately to either misrepresent his intentions or create falsehoods to paint him black and dishonourable in the eyes of their cohorts.

Ah how things change in death! One ignoble Zambian even went so far as to accuse Levy of neglecting his mother when he was in mourning the unfortunate death of his mother.

This man must have surely insulted Zambia’s age-honoured traditions yet…

  11. This man must have surely insulted Zambia’s age-honoured traditions yet his hatred for Levy could care less.

His inclination was to score a political point at the pain of his perceived enemy who was at his lowest ebb.Soon after he died however, Levy became the darling of the same mouths and hearts that had hitherto spared no invectives and aspersions when he was alive!

Many spoke, as the still do, of Levy’s legacy. Yet when he was working himself to exhaustion for mother Zambia, he earned no such accolades.

A prophet indeed is with honour except in his home country and among his people.

  12. RB (Mr. Rubbish) is having nightmares on the support MCS is carrying in the country. It seems they have concluded that Sata contesting next Presidential elections will mean disaster to MMD and their failed team of minions. Now they are throwing everything at him, but in the process, he is even getting more popular than they could ever imagine. Ba Sulu, please, settle down. we know you have no job and your children want milk, but this route will spell even more disaster soon after the elections. They just using you.

  13. Twalibelela, we are battle tested. You can manufacture as many cases as you wish wish we will survive. We are not like you ABALILA KUBUTALI BWANTAMBO NGE MBUSHI.

  14. Mwata, mudala amate yalakama. People have made up their minds. No matter how much you shout or rant, it won’t change their minds. We can put you on Empire State Building, scream all you want about Sata, people will be laughing. Not at Sata, but you.

Levy Mwanawasa, is dead. No matter how much you sing about him, his vote does not count. After all he does not vote any more. So, talk about RB (Mr Rubbish). He must campaign like a man. He wasted his opportunity on those fruitless trips he spent billions of dollars on. Now he must account for his term in office. People are waiting to hear about him, not about Sata. Sata was not the one sending Mr Rubbish on those trips. It is time to separate chaff from hay. Ba MMD nabafulungana. They don’t know what to tell the people. Lelo.

  15. The Patriotic Front (PF) must sweep all the seats in Luapula Province this year, says Michael Sata.

During the official opening of the 6th Luapula provincial conference, Sata urged the delegates to make 2011 a decisive year.

“I want to see PF sweep all the seats in Luapula Province this year. We must sweep all the seats but it won’t happen on its own; it starts with this conference, the leaders you will elect, your own commitment to go out and campaign for the good of your province and for the good of our entire country,” Sata said. “For us in PF, we respect all tribes and ethnic groups in our country. As far as PF is concerned, we are all Zambians, and that is what should matter most. We all want to see development not just in the leaders’ pockets, but in our localities…

  16. Those of you who will be elected to leadership at this conference, I want you to commit yourselves to a lot of hard work in the campaign to ensure everyone that is eligible is registered as a voter.”

He said PF required everyone’s vote to win decisively.

“So that no vote rigging will even be contemplated by MMD,” he said.

He said PF would like to extend its hand of friendship to all trustworthy opposition parties.

“I say not all opposition parties, but trustworthy opposition parties and encourage them to come forth and let us join hands to remove MMD from power. Not for its sake but so that we can bring about equitable development to our provinces and the whole country,” Sata said. “So that we can bring about a serious people-driven constitution, reform the…

  17. He said President Banda and Vice-President George Kunda thought PF was scared to hold party provincial conferences.

“How and what can we be scared of meeting our own members? Let these conferences shame them,” Sata said. “I challenge Rupiah Banda and his lame-duck Vice-President Kunda that if what we are doing here in Luapula today is not intra-party democracy at work, let them tell us what else it is then.”
On development, Sata said Dr Kenneth Kaunda took development to Luapula by building roads, the Tuta Bridge among others. Â

  18. “Mwanawasa also built the long awaited bridge at Chembe but Chiluba only introduced cell phones,” he said.

He said once in power the PF’s plans for Luapula include infrastructure development such as roads, tourism, industries and mining. He said PF would also seek to encourage citizen economic empowerment by creating champions among the locals.

  19. #11 I love this statement “Even when he offered them help in their hour of dire need, Levy’s (Sata’s) nemesis frowned upon him, choosing deliberately to either misrepresent his intentions or create falsehoods to paint him black and dishonourable in the eyes of their cohorts”.

Doesn’t this sound like you are talking about Hon Sata? Thank you. Naukula kanshi.

  20. Samson Zulu is guy who would like to size on every opportunity. I am sure the courts of law have done their best and this case should closed. Sam was bought by the MMD coz of his love for material things.please let Sata alone. Let the man defeat his Mbuya RB or vice versa.

  21. Plot to pull down Sata started on the day he was filling in nomination papers in 2008 when MMD sponsored Saviour Chishimba tried to stop him from standing. Please Times of Zambia sell your President otherwise you’re just making Sata a hero and RB a zero. I think RB is remembering Tetamashimba who was making constructive headlines for him and not this useless Mumbi job seeker.

  22. “Mr Zulu said in a complaint letter to the DPP that there were omissions in the case he reported to the Zambia Police Service on June 5, 2009” What a circus. How does a sane person omit such vital information. In any case, the case has already been concluded and judgment passed. It is however, not surprising, this fellow is among others that are featuring on Chanda Chimba’s Sebana wi kute “documentary” on ZNBC and Muvi. Its all about disparaging Sata and getting favours from MMD.

  23. is LT a subsidiary of Times of Zambia? Why are they comfortable to cover junk this? No sane person can call this as news or even a ferry tale. What will happen to LT when Sata forms gvt in november?

  24. IF he is entrusted with power, how many would be harassed because they are opposed to his syle? Let’s not forget, even chiefs like Mpezeni and the Litunga were at one point threatened with dethroning by this same man who has become, in some people’s minds, a redeemer, God forbid. His violent outlook cannot be laundered no matter what. He is clearly a serious danger and should be confined to what he belongs: opposition politics. No wonder he was not trusted even by FJT to take over the reigns. For me and my house this man is clearly out of leadership.

  25. But kwena eehh, even if you want to bring somebody down sure, is this the way you do things? But ba movement for mad dog.s are stu.pidl.y desperate. And you can see the source of the story, this useless mmd mouth-piece times of mmd, shit newspaper. You will see when we (pf/pact) win this years’ election. All these warthogs, mumbi, lifwekelo, chifine, samson zulu, etc will be in big shi.t ba fika.la. Dont accuse innnocent pipo just because mmd throws at you left-overs for your bellies mathafakas. You should think of your future stupid pipo. mmd wont be in power forever, and whatever they are doing, it will haunt them. Time is too short.

  26. Ifyabupuba fye, atase. Do you see the connection, samson zulu, rupiah banda. Who can you fool? Mu ichindike fye you mmd hyenas.

  27. “The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) says it will not prosecute PF president Michael Sata and Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba concerning the US$100,000 transaction at Finance Bank.
DEC spokesperson John Nyawali told the Watchdog Wednesday morning that DEC will instead hand over the matter to Zambia Revenue Authority and Bank of Zambia for consideration and possible prosecution.

Nyawali said this follows extensive consultations with the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
He also disclosed that Sata through his lawyers has been given back two of his motor vehicles which were seized from him as part of the investigations.” WD

  28. A load of crap from a foo.lish person. Is it that the MMD are so dull they cannot see that the common man has seen what they are trying to do to Sata. Just play clean game bane, this witch hunt is doing you monkeys more harm than good. F00ls! Next you will accuse Sata (king Cobra) of facking an anaconda and you will write to the DPP ati alitom.ba insoka. F00ls!

  29. that is y the other day i said the day sata will be sentenced he will go in for 50 yrs coz it seem he has alot of charges which neva concluded and only God knows when he will be sentenced

  30. #31 ,

Spot on man, in addition , next time the MMD thugs will accuse Sata of sleeping with his wife Dr. Kaseba.

This IDI0TS are too dull as not to know that they are making Sata more popular. People now have come to know that MMD hate Sata for nothing.

  31. When is a Lozi or a Tonga going to charge Sata? I have noticed it is only chaps from Eastern province, has anyone noticed this or is it me that is confused?

  32. I WISH THIS THUG WHO IS CHEATING ON PEOPLE WHO HAVE BECOME BLIND OF A SUDDEN CAN BE JAILED FOR ADAPTION HE IS A MASTER OF THUGS

  33. If Sata is destiny to be a president by the choice of God, no matter how people try to bring him down they will not achieve their goal. MMD cadres vomit diarrhoea of the head.

  34. # 21 De javu, I can confirm, the evil man Satan doesn’t flush his toilet. He lets wynter and the scottt guy do it for him. but I am not sure if he will be arrested for that

  35. Really the MMD thieves are desperate now . But they should know that people have resolved to vote Sata come 2011 elections. No amount of propaganda will work.

    MMD this year 2011 kuyabebele.

  36. ok! as much as i dont feel sata cant make a good president, this story is total cr-app. I dont think mmd needs to panick cause for the first time since 1991, they dont even need to rig the elections to win because satas true character has become extremely apparent ( to sensible Zambians) in the past two to three years.

  37. Finally, maybe ba Sata should be arrested.Hes escaped most of these cases.PIPO,pls dont forget the Chawama incident.Sata is Ruthless and cruel. We need more pipo to come up cases.

  38. number 42, maybe you could consider changing your name for the sake of all peace loving zambians who think above tribal lines.

  39. Job seekers and time wasters at it again. I wonder why he should wait for such a long period of time to react. Geeeehhhhh!

  40. Zulu Zulu Zulu where where you to come out now. Dont invite trouble some things are better left the way they are or you may look fool-lish later.

  41. We can’t blame the mmd, let them continue, we’ll give them the tree and rope for them to hang themselves and when both sata and rb collapse. We’ll walk to state house and that will be the beginning of sanity in zambian politics and economy. Watch this space. I can say it here and now that HH will be president this year.

  42. In America, what most of you do not realise is that Obama was the least popular guy at the beggining. He was the least popular and the youngest of the 3. On top of that he came from the least liked race. David in the bible was also the youngest, least experienced but God choose him. The lesson is just because HH has been # 3 doesn’t mean he’ll always be. Remember, majority of zambians acknowlede that he’s the man with the leadership qualities and the hour has come. There is nothing as powerful as an idea whose time has come. Time for real change is now,

  43. Cheap propaganda and TL please give us Issue based updates. Its boring now to hear cheap stories and let Zulu go to hell!

  44. Sata is also human to err if those guys were trully brutalised it’s quite shameful of a person wanting to defend me as my president but as for now am not sure if Sata was part of the brutality which has seen others in prison. the best we can do is give these guys an audience so that the truth is brought out, otherwise i don’t trust politicians when it comes to issues to do with power especially Sata, i was priviledged to witness wat he did in Chawama in 2001. Let’s stop defending him or accusing him for now. tommorrow it will be you.
