The African Institute of Democracy and Good Governance AIDGG has challenged Colonel Panji Kaunda to name the people the late President Levy Mwanawasa sent inviting him to join the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD).
AIDGG Head of Public Relation Thabo Kawana has challenged Colonel Kaunda to name the emissaries which the late president sent promising him the post of vice presidency if he joined the MMD in order for the people of Zambia to believe his story.
Mr Kawana has also called on Colonel Kaunda to tone down on his statements in the media. He told ZNBC News in Kitwe today that Colonel PanjiI’s continued use of the term “bloodshed” in his media interviews is not good for the peace of the nation.
He said that Colonel Kaunda has continued to issue inflammatory statements to the media which have the potential to incite violence in the country especially among the youths.
Mr Kawana was reacting to a story in today’s edition of the Post Newspaper story in which Colonel Kaunda was quoted as saying that the MMD would kill to stay in power.
He said that Colonel Kaunda is free to participate in the political debate of country without referring to killing every time he issues a statement to the media.

We have misunderstood this man(Panji Kaunda). He is innocent, when his Excellency KK ruled Zambia he was in the army, and a lot of people know what he did while his father was in power. For him to be expected to be even a little democratic and diplomatic in his language is asking too much from him. The only thing that lifts him up to where he is just being a son of the first Republican president other than that only God knows. Politics of bloodshed remained in ” Chacha days.” May be as the son of a prominent political activist was well protected and did not experience the beatings and killings and destruction of property that some of us witnessed.

Panji is free to join any party he wants, express his views and does need to review who Levy sent for him. That said, the old man KK tried so much to mentor Panji to take over from him. He realised that his son was not born to be a politician. He then tried to connect him into the Business World locally and international, that as well, Panji failed to capitalise on his fathers influence.
In the end, he found solace in The Late Wezi, whom he mentored and unfortunately, his beloved son was gunned down.
My question is, so what if Panji reveals the names? Which Zambians are really interested in knowing the names? And what would they do with that kind of useless information? Some of these organizations! I swear, most of these guys are just plain s.tupi.d
As far as the Kaunda’s are concerned, Chiluba killed their beloved one. So they expected RB to cage Chiluba for Wezi’s death. I can understand the Kaunda’s pain and emotions. Panji wants SATA to cage Chiluba for killing his young brother – should PF get into power.
It will not work, because if SATA moved into State House, he would not dare lock up Chiluba. This would lead to all the Bad deeds Chiluba & Sata did together come out in the open. In the meantime, PF think they can use Panji to win Eastern Province, which is not workable because Panji is not really a force and no one listens to him.

I enjoy reading your blogs but please tone down on discussing individuals. Its unfair to call someone, an adult for that matter who is managing to feed himself as a failure. Panji’s behaviour during his father’s time in state house was not out of this world. The fact that he is not a political animal does not make him a failure. Success in life is measured in many ways.
Even a primary school teacher who has led a honest life but now surviving on a small pension and a small piece of land in the village can not be seen as a failure..

The old man, KK himself has openly complained in the public asking his children not to depend on their father for financial support.

As for your example! I have great respect for schoolteachers or any low ranking person in society. Without teachers, I would not be where I am today. I also happen to have extended family members that are teachers. Going by what you have written. let me tell you now and dispel your wrong assumptions. Panji is far young than my father. In fact my father, though not as popular as Kaunda is never the less in the same age group as Kaunda and am the first born to him. Without using rocket science you can guess roughly my age. Am not sure what makes you think Panji suffered more than I did. We lived without a father several as the Northern Rhodesian police always searched our house and the man had to sleep in the bush a number of times. Of course there many others not only unknown today but also not acknowledged.

Panji Kaunda keeps talking about violence because that is all he knows. He is a soldier who sees every problem as violence. That is why he needs to shut up because this is a civilian world where people can quarel without firing a gun. He is behaving like a loose canon. Col Panji’s warnings are coming to pass. He was not in Mazabuka or Mongu where unarmed people demonstrators were gunned down by the state. Who is killing, is it Col Panji or RB and his Govt.
