A Lusaka man, suspected to be in his mid-twenties, is feared dead after he jumped into a man-made dam in John Howard compound.

A MUVI TV news crew, which rushed to the scene found scores of people overwhelmed by the incident.

The residents told MUVI TV news that the unidentified man is believed to have decided to jump into the dam after a domestic dispute with his wife.

They added that after jumping into the dam, the man was later seen struggling to come out of the water but he later drowned.

By Press time, the man’s body had not yet been retrieved.

Meanwhile, former John Howard ward councilor, Musonda Mwaume has reiterated his call for an immediate closure of the respective dam.

Mr. Mwaume says when he was area councilor, he had demanded that government buries the dam, which was created through illegal stone quarrying.

  1. MHSRIP. The number of marital disputes and divorce cases has increased of late pa Zed. Alangisi/shibukombe please counsel couples before marriage to avoid such incidents.

  2. ”They added that after jumping into the dam, the man was later seen struggling to come out of the water but he later drowned”.

How foo.lish a human being can be at times.

  3. The problem is that most of these ‘couples’ are not even legally married. two people like each other, go home together, next day one refuses to leave. and hey presto, they are mr and mrs. unprepared for marriage. this unfortunately is the trend in zed. there is no preparation before people get married. what a shame and damning consequence to hasty actions

  4. A DAM in John Howard? Is there a river there on which to build a dam? That thing you’re talking about is a lake, ba LT. Learn your English.

  5. Commiting suicide or even contemplating it is the worst cowardice, No problem on earth is big enough to justify self killing. Lucifer shall receive him with open arms.

  6. # 7 pulamasaka, trying to be contraversial over nothing! He jumped into the pond and drawned! He committed suicide so, he will not have peace in the after life! By the way, have you noticed an increase in suicides by men? Indeed as # 5 father chalilowa has said, it is the worst form of cowardice!

  7. We have already a deficit. This is the reason why men are fewer than women. The next thing the percentage will run at 80% women per 20% men and wonder if they will ever be one Zambia one love.

  8. A woman’s head is always influenced by heart; but a man’s heart by his head. Instead of getting hard ourselves and trying to compete, women should try to give their best qualities to men — bring them softness, teach them how to cry. This will lessen the percentage of them committing suicide.

  9. #8 zed man in china
Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned. You will not be better than him.

  10. Ba LT naimwe. What is the definition of a dam? My english tells me that a dam is a barrier constructed to contain the flow of water or to keep out the sea. This has been a common mistake in the Zed media. I’m sure MUVI,ZNBC, and other used the same term to mean lake. The easterns must have misled you. To them damu means a water body like a lake. sorry to correct you in this manner but its true.

  11. Musonda Maume is a real man. This is a sad development. I do not understand what motivates people to commit suicide and then regret the action few moments before death

  12. Struggling in the water is an involuntary action, it doesnt mean he regretet it. Living conditions are very hard pa z and mental illness including depression is higher in lower social economic classes. Make peoples lives dignified and the incidence of such events will come down.
