About Fifty Patriotic Front-PF members in Kapiri Mposhi District have defected to the ruling MMD.
The defectors made their stance known at a public rally addressed by President Rupiah Banda Monday afternoon in Kapiri Mposhi.
And President Banda has urged MMD members to embrace people joining the MMD.
The President explains that it is important that old party members receive former PF members properly and make them feel welcome in the MMD.
President Banda said this when he welcomed the defectors during his political rally in Kapiri Mposhi.
He said it is important that both old and new members unite and work towards achieving the party’s goals.

Defections are not any surprising. This is the reason why I urge all thinking Zambians to approach politics differently fron the ‘kaponyas’. The Kaponya mentality reduces us to cadres and nothing more. Intelligent Zambians will not bother about defections, infact you will soon see a hightened activity in that area as even high profile leaders jump from one party to the other, sneafing positions and political opportunities. Real inteliigent people mobilise their supporters to vote. A cust vote is a more powerful instrument than a defection or these made-up huge rallies. You are the same people who complain of rigging without realising that huge rallies and defections do not mean anything unless people actually cast their votes! Wake-up Zambians.

If you see some purpoted huge crouds in some newspapers you may think that some people are doing really fine, but alas, rented crowds have no meaning other than a fake ‘chimwela’, and the caeras are set at an angle to give you some ‘paralax error reading’ and then you lose your heads. When the results are read, you run amoke breaking cars and what else you can lay your hands on. You will petition the results in the courts of law, but alas! it takes 7 years for the cases to be head and meanwhile…another election will be waiting! Open your heads man!

You are right man! you reminded me of some MP who had his campain base in my area..a few houses from mine. He would make all sorts of noices at awkward hours bluring horns and singing shit. Guess what? he lost the election..everybody was angry with him for disturbing the peace. The only people that have defected from PF as far as we know are Mumbi, Chimumbwa and the bloody rabels, the rest we didn’t even know them and they provided no proof that they were once our members. In bemba we say ”ukuli ifipuba ekuli indalama” even some smart kaponyas and villagers have realised that MMD fipuba and are faking defections just to squeeze a few kwachas from self confessed dogs. However, defections to PF are always backed up with Party cards and are in large droves e.g the defection of entire UPND big guns in Western province.
The PF is so smart that there is no way one can trace if the defectors were members or not. The party deliberately has no membership cards in place.

Defections, whether real or stage-managed, are part of politics especially in an election year. This should not surprise us because we have heard it before with PF and UPND. Yes, defections can be real or stage-managed, but at the end of the day, what counts is the actual vote on voting day. the vote is the determinant. i always equate defections to mock exams and the actual vote as the final exam, thats why i dont give a damn about defections. Anyway since they are pf, they have just gone back to their leader’s old party, so no ill feelings. You are always welcome in your former house. Sata just left MMD ten years ago when he was not adopted as presidential candidate because of his thuggery behaviour, so his members and even him can still go back to his party, atleast now it is not as corrupt as it was at the time of Sata and Chiluba, thank God Mwanawasa tried to do some cleaning. The country is too polarised and there is too much hate speech. It is very unzambian and has been promoted by the Post for commercial reasons.
