President Banda has said that foreign investment alone will not move the economy forward. President Banda has encouraged Zambian investors to venture in business activities of their choice.

The President was speaking in Chipata this afternoon when he officially opened the eighth Spar outlet in the country.
The mall which has created over 100 jobs for locals has been constructed at a cost of 10 billion Kwacha. The President said that his goal is for Zambia to achieve a better economy in the world.
He says this will be achieved through establishing security, stability and prosperity for all Zambians.
President Banda says stability in the economy will entail more job creation, increased foreign investment, eradication of poverty and steady food production.
Hundred of Chipata residents braved the cold and rainy weather to witness the official opening of the first spar shopping mall in the town.
Mr Banda also said that government remains determined on its ambitions of job and wealth creation for all Zambians.
He said that he is pleased that many entities such as spar have taken advantage of favorable economic conditions that his government has put in place.
And Eastern Province chamber of commerce and Industry President Timothy Nyirenda observed that the opening of the shopping mall is clear testimony of good and enhanced economic policies that president Banda is implementing.
Mr. Nyirenda said that Eastern province has seen enhanced social and economic development which warrants the Chipata’s municipality to be honored with a city status
President Banda, Home Affairs Minister Mkhondo Lungu and other senior government officials later toured the spar to have a feel of what people in Chipata will experience during their shopping ventures.
On Saturday before departure to Chipata, President Banda said Zambia is at a point of economic breakthrough.
Mr Banda said this is due to increased economic activities across the country. Mr Banda also announced that Chipata District in Eastern Province would soon become city.
He said Chipata will attain the city status because of the current massive economic activities taking place in the district.
The President was happy that a number of infrastructure projects are on course to support the rising economic activities in Chipata.

Thanks for recognizing what we have been telling you and all your past presidents all along. Foreigners are Gold diggers looking for huge profits. They only come to Zambia if they can make a killing for their investment. The people that love Zambia with or without huge profits are Zambians and it is Zambians that can truly develop this country further than what FDI can do. Zambia will only become great if Zambians start producing and exporting more to the greater world.
Now can you go even further by giving locals the same incentives you give to foreigners. talk is cheap. Show some commitment. My Vote is still up for grabs.
The whole of him opening a chain store, you mean we have no mayors, Dcsm to do that job of official opening?awe Mwandini..Ni MTN
Now that he can not freely fly outside Zambia, he will make sure he attends all the attends all the ceremonies in the country. Once you have voted for him, he will go back to his role of travelling all the world. Make no mistake, this man is a snake.
Good evening
Nothing wrong with a Head of State cutting ribbons at new business establishments in the country – it’s part of his job to feature at such functions.
All in all, his lecture on investment is on spot. The African food market is getting more attractive and growing very fast, especially in developed countries. Everyone is now into organic food stuffs. Zambians know it better, because they grow it in their home gardens. It would be good to see some authentic Zambian products manufactured by Zambian business owners get access to the global markets.
Why a president can go to open a shop is beyond my simple mind! Some countries have restrictions on the type of investment welcome in their country; They might say 75% should be owned by locals, or exclude certain sectors from foreign investment – we cannot afford to have every single entity owned by foreign entities. Yes we had ZCBC and the like, but they could have been successful with better management and no political inteference. The failure of management does not mean that anything owned by Zambians is doomed to fail. The government should draw up sectors of the economy that are to be exclusively for Zambians, and also set some sectors for which Zambian shareholding is a requirement as a minimum for issuance of investment licenses.
Very cheap political talk. He just talks when he knows deep down his heart that he has no commitment. Why not leave such minor tasks of cutting ribbons to Ministers and Permanent secretaries? Chimbwi no plan.
For his will be opening of toilets, smoking houses, homo houses and bars and brothels so that he marries the 7th wife.
I mean sata
Great news. It is great to see that Chipata has not given up on its aspirations to attain city status. This is good news for the residents of Chipata.
#5, so for the K10 billion investment, locals should have forked K7.5 billion before the shop opened. Very visionary indeed.
I think you have misunderstood the point. What I am saying is that some sectors should be ring fanced for Zambians, so that locals can have a share in the national economy. The shareholding can be facilitated through empowerment policies – including finance; yes this is visionary! If you encourage foreign companies to open shops in Zambia, all you will be doing is facilitating the externalization of foreign exchange, leading to increased Kwacha weakening and cost of living. Should the primary exports fall in value, Zambia will experience foreign currency liquidity problems, and you will not be able to service debt or externalise profits – leading to these same companies leaving. Think ahead my friend.
Its election year always in the spot light real old UNIP days Lesa kumuulu ba Banda pashi.

By the time RB is done in 2016, the entire countryside would be a different place. After my initial doubts the man has certainly convinced me he is a hardworker. Never in the history of this country has there been a President who has done so much within a short period. Talk of man of action!!! Not action of dressing down people and getting slacks for nurses, we mean real action.
!3 Zeca, agreed. Others can only watch, green with envy. And even claim that they have never seen a Spar shop in Zambia.
The man may have is faults but certainly government is performing…. Zambian never give credit were its due. We were lining up from 5am in the morning for sugar, tooth paste, salt and soap at Mwaiseni and ZCBC not so long ago. Bread was a pipe dream.
Good tone Mr. President. But, we all know this is election year, so this could just be hot air. So, prove us wrong. Walk the talk, i.e. sensible and practical incentives for Zambians, and dual citizenships for Zambians in the Diaspora. As the saying goes:- ‘East, west home is best’
yeah, just what we need, more shopin malls.where we can foreign made products.and our brothers and sisters can get lovely well payin and fulfillin jobs fillin up shelves.
Really pipo, what is our facination with shoppin malls.yes they look quite good and all.but is that really the development we are ravin about?we ought to be talkin about industrial zones, where real jobs will be created.we hav an unemployment rate of between 70 and 80 percenet, dependin who you ask.and I really doubt these to mickey mouse investments and projects will put a dent in that..and yes 2 million usd is a mickey mouse investment if you got 5million jobs to create ba mwale!
DONCHI KUBEBA, where are you?
Sorry fellow bloggers, allow me to be off topic just for this one. Today Mr Sata addressed a rally in Kafue where he urged the youth to turn out in large numbers and vote in this year’s general elections as the destiny of this country lies in thier hands. Perfectly legal, but he was very careful not to urge the youths to vote for him or his party. He knows the rules. Do you think that Mr Sata would miss a chance to entice people to “Vote for Sata”?
RB I salute you.

#17, a well structured economy has strong linkages across all economic sectors, including Commerce. Apart from many other advantages, the significance for farmers in Chipata of having a large supermarket like Spar that the farmers can have a market for their agricultural produce – carrots, green beans, cabbages, tomatoes, okra you name it. Take it up from there lest I am accused of having a big mouth by Donchi Kubeba.
A development centric President for all Zambians steps up everywhere in the corners of the country to show solidarity with his innovative people driving the difference. Its not only symbolic but highly inspiration for the head of state to step up an the launch of any growth initiative. All things being equal, i vow that next year i will invite his Excellency too to officiate the launch of my investment in the country in the area of my passion. Small or big Zambians have a Golden opportunity to tap into the billion dollar market portfolios. Quality and high paying initiatives are what the prosperity of the people and their country impinges on.
.
There are lot of single parent women I know who started selling on the market, then moved into supplying schools, colleges, hotels food provisions. Today, they have ended up sending their children to good schools, for further studies in the UK and built themselves high cost houses. We also have many hardworking Zambians that have made it with just a vertical sense of determination.
Some of us we will not stop preaching the Gospels of Self Sufficient. Because it always works. There are those that expect GRZ to think for us. Yes, GRZ has to do a lot to pave channels for Small Scale Businesses. However, it boils down to self-determination. Why? Because in this climate, we have Zambians that are pulling the strings, having started from the scratch
Its not only symbolic but highly inspirational for the head of state to step up at the launch of any growth initiative. He is a pro-growth President.
#19 Independent Observer, I wish you could repeat that over and over again. It describes our situation perfectly.
We do not need the government to make us realise that Zambia needs the Private Sector to grow. Just as a parent you do not need someone to tell or instruct you that it is your sorely duty to guide your children to have good manners, encourage them to work hard at school and spearhead self determination in their lives.
Yes, life is hard. Some will try to find a way of being critical without alternative positive attributions – all in the name of playing politics.

Just what kind of jobs have been created? About time journalists in Zambia moved beyond speeches and provided ‘meat’ for certain pronouncements. As far as I care, 10,000 jobs can be created but if the workers are paid peanuts, such a development does not address the issues of development therefore they are meaningless.
Thats the way forward
i have no idea why my heart wants me to go back home even with such idiocricy.! Mr President, thats not a developmental issue that can make you travel to chipata, concentrate on bigger projects, capital projects like mines, universities, n hospitals, not such nonsence as a shop with 100 people. and to make matters worse those 100 people will be paid peanuts, no medical insurance, educational opportunities or social welfare……..what a President or what a country!
25# HH SATA – Please keep contributing we appreciate all your comments. Ours is to drive the nation forward. Let those that want to indulge themselves into loathing, stay where they belong.
Leaders like George Bush Jr, Tony Blair, Bill Clinton & Angela Markel have in the past officiated and presided opening small business ventures in order to encourage Small Scale Investment to grow which are very central to every growing economy.
This is not different to what RB is doing. I wish some of these people making these futile comments could just open their horizons.
#28 wise one, to me if 10,000 people were unemployed with zero income, and then 10,000 new jobs are created for them it is a big start even if they are paid what you term peanuts. The beginning is more important, follow up issues such as wages are addressed in the course of time. My philosophy is that if I cannot have a cow today, a goat is good enough because if I worked hard and took a positive attitude, tomorrow I may have two goats and the next day may bring the cow that I wanted.
Shops must be opened by Town Mayors please!!!!!! The cost of flying the president and his usual big entourage to and from is higher than the tax and salaries Spar will pay for the next year is one considers that they have probably been given a tax holiday (like they did Shoprite)! I am afraid IT IS MA LABBISH AT IT AGAIN!
I have always attended as many as possible of the small functions at my children’s schools. They are small compared to what my workload demands of my time, compared to what I have to do to put food on the family table and send those children to school, but it is amazing how much the children appreciate it and how much encouragement they get out of it.
David Cameron officiated at the opening of the “people’s supermarket”. Stop being such haters. Vima phd ‘pull him down’ syndrome
We must realise that development & growth does not start from the TOP to the BOTTOM but from the BOTTOM to the TOP.
If a nation wants to reduce illiteracy, you do NOT encourage people to go to Higher Learning Institution such as Colleges or Universities. But you start by ensuring that every child is given a chance to have an education foundation.
If you are famer, you start by treating the seeds with care, do the planting, water it, slash of weed that can suffocate your plants and there-after expect a good harvest in the long term.
We should not be short sighted and deliberately miss what the opening of this shop or mall really means – people in a provincial town have disposable incomes which has convinced those investing that they can turn a profit. What this means is that people in a small town have MORE MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS to borrow a well used phrase – should we not be celebrating that fact regardless of what party we support? Ordinary Zambians are slowly but surely moving themselves out of poverty, I for one refuse to be negative and choose to celebrate positive developments whenever and wherever they happen in Zambia – I believe it is the patriotic thing to do.
Even GOD started small by building the world in stages – during the 7 Days Period.
Therefore, you always encourage businesses that are starting small. ‘Cause every company that becomes a multi-international organisation had to start from miniature position.
Bill Gates started in the garage of his father.
let us debate on issues and not personality. We need more Universities, More health Centres, Good roads and clean water.
@HH.Sata
You missunderstand me my man,am assuming you are a man-forgive me if am wrong.I just wanted to keep as all focused on the biggest problem vexing this country and that gets no attention from the state.massive unemployment!I hav to date not heard the official unemployment rate from our leaders, and I watch ZNBC news as much as I can, however minding numbing that is. And if the figures I put foward are in anyway correct then it will take a whole lot of manda hills and arcades to do something about it.The problem in zambia is that development has been completely outsouced to the privated sector, and sorry the agents of capital will not sort out massive the unemployment problem. While KK and unip where too meddlesome the MMD is way too laid back!
This man has no vision, let him pack his katundu and go.
Cntd. Now I am not sayin that the opening of the said mall is not desirable, all am sayin is that lets keep our mind on the big picture.millions of unemployed.a couple hundred jobs aint goin to cut it.Bold action is needed by the state.I love how you allude to the various linkages that exist in an economy. However, the only link that has thrived with the mmd has been trade.if a process of “de-industrialisation” existed it would be in zambia. And I repeat, these are hardly the jobs that we ought to be wetting our pants over.If shop rite is anything to go by,they are are crap jobs!
@independent observer..Are you by any chance a closet anarcho capitalist? You are dismissive of grz’s indespensible role in ameliorating the economic grief that pipo may find themselves in.just as soldiers are expected to do the actual fightin, the very least they expect from their commanders is the tool and arms to wage war.The poor and downtrodden in zed do not expect to be dolled out cash. All most of them want is a chance to make a beeter life for themselves.dont know the poor that you interact with, but the wons I meet are not in their position because of lack of effort.most are harder workin than you or me,believe me.or maybe you meetin too many lazy pipo.
@ independent observer. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth! You call that small.More like the universe created there and then.Half the job done.
As for the bill gates example.we are talking bout the well being of millions. You,me we can get on and thrive irregardless of the competance of the chap in state house. The majority are unfortunately beholden to him or one day I suppose her, that lives in plot 1.whether they live a life less wretched can sometimes hinge on the whims of ba President. So while encouraging the prez is commendable we should commend rubbish!
Why does the guy put on a hat which says “President”? Kulibonesha ta! Who in Zambia doesn’t know he is the president?
# 44 Ali Mwana wa Afrika
My gospel or comments has always about self reliance, working hard, have jobs created by Zambians, give back and lift those behind us – especially the disadvantaged children.
Why? Because the government can do everything. GRZ needs the Private Sector so that it collects more taxes to drive development programs. We must remember that Zambia is a poor country.
Yes, the government has to lead by example to provide vehicles to encourage empowerment. However, the blame game in Zambia is just too strong, plus the PWD Pull Him Down – Syndrome
The idea is not just to talk but also to put words to actions. I am not sure how long you have been reading my comments, if you have followed my comments over the time you would understand where I am coming from.
I am a capitalist that also STRONGLY BELIEVES in giving back & lifting those left behind. Because when life blesses & gives you so much, it also expects you to lift others behind you
I interact with the poor, especially the Orphans, Homeless and Abused boys/girls.
I also know other Zambians doing a lot to help these kids to see them have a better future.
I have donated hundreds of millions to orphanage centres in order to give hope to these children’s so that they can have a platform to better their lives. I would beg and encourage anyone Zambians to remember the homeless kids in the inner cities.
# 44 Ali Mwana wa Afrika
Therefore, you and I should not just talk but put words to actions – cause we both of us have been given a platform in life.
Brick by Brick and collectively we will elevate Zambia from the bottom to the top.
# 45 Ali Mwana wa Afrika
You are now being very petty. Think intelligently. God did not build every thing in one day. It was over a 6 Day Period. In other words, it was done in stages.
I will not reduce myself to that rank.
@independent observer. My point was that though God made the world in stages,7 days, they were all significant.dont think it says anywhere that he made a donkey on day one and then a cat on day two and maybe a lake or two on day 3 and 4.In stages true as you say,but significant acts.heaven and earth, night and day, rivers and the mountains.Obviously any progress we make will be stage by stage, but lets not jump up and down over 2million usd investment!please!its welcome.but as welcome to an AIDS patient ,in need of ARVs,as panodol or an asprin. And I am many rubbish things, but petty just aint one of them and believe me when I say am as intelligent as they come! I wont question your intelligence so neither should you mine. And back to the debate please.
@independent observer. Your works for the needy are indeed commendable.I am new to your postings so cant pigeon hole you yet.But fortunately you describe yourself and that is good.I have some gripes with your philosophy of been a capitalist as you would with me been on the lefrt of the political spectrum.but thats an argument for another day. However i do not understand why we are averse to criticism.am sure an intelligent person like you follows world politics and sees the intense criticism western leaders get from all angles, supporters included.Think it was Kant or Popper whosaid that without criticism there is no progress. Why is it ok to be harsh on our football players, most of them talented, but treat our politicians, mostly opportunists with kid gloves?as long as its civil am all for it
Rupiya you an a a.rsehole that remains open
Am sick of you
you stink
@Independent Observer – just ignore this guy 44@ Ali Mwana wa Afrika
keep doing the wonderful job u do to the poor. u have created good jobs 4 zedians that speaks volume. u are an inspiration to most of us that see your work at your young age. just how many zedians are there that work as Investment Bank City Traders taking home a £1 million pound a year. come and join UPND and work with HH and Prof Chirwa.
yup.apa mwamba plutocracy.any wonder the masses hav failed to coalesce round your ideals, good as they might be.get down to the pipo you expect to vote for you and talk to them.not over their heads.
yup.apa mwamba plutocracy.any wonder the masses hav failed to coalesce round your ideals, good as they might be.get down to the pipo you expect to vote for you and talk to them.not over their heads.
@independent observer. And me stating as the bible says that God created the heavens and the earth on the first day not been a simple thing some how makes me petty?really?I will not be petty by quickly resorting to name calling as you pettily have.will let it pass.but please spare us the half baked religous analogies from sunday school that are hard for us to argue against without been called petty.
As regards your point of working hard and brick by brick creatin a better zed,we all doing that or would want to if accorded the opportunity.Thats what you seem to be missing from the argument.OPPORTUNITY!thats what pipo wat and are lacking. To insinuate that pipo just need to get off their behinds and tomorrow will be rosy is just so far from reality.
@upnd 2011-2016.I see nuthing wrong with my debate.I hav been respectful and kept to topic.I do not know any1 on this thread personally and can only assume that they are all zedians that passionately love their country.i begrudge no1 his success as no1 should begrudge me mine.
But their in lies the problem.State a contrary opinion, respectfully might I add,and the insults flow.
But we have to realise that millions are havin in essence a crap life and the the sprinkling of any amount of money by individuals however well meaning, will not change the lot of the majority.Bold change in how things are done and not the drip drip gradual change advocated by independent observer is wat i believe is needed.thats my point!and dont quickly resort to partisan default positions please! So boring.
Go to any1 of these markets in town and ask just how much these youths get for back breakin work.on the copperbelt I have seen with my own eyes youths load a truck with 30 tonnes of copper ore and get paid 150,000.thats not each, but to be shared amongst them all. After 6 hours of back breaking work,20pin or 30pin each.I have always as a consequence found statements like “all they need to doo is work harder” offensive to them.and as some one whohates injustice however small, offensive to me.Because I doubt there are too many on this thread who would do what this youths do even if our lives depended on it.
@ 58 Ali Mwana wa Afrika
i am at work right now. man I do not want to have a fight with you. i was just making a comment that Independent Observer has put words to action. He is a true example to what we zedians should make an effort in our objectives
i am in london and have seen this guy how he humbles himself to other zedians, the fact that he is a rich zedian. i also know that he as given a lot of money to charities probably close to billions in Zambia, Zimbabwe & Malawi. he also has invested and created hundreds of jobs in zed. his elder brother was at school with my elder bother and he just comes from a working class family.
sorry, iam just proud that a fellow zedian in the uk can reach that status and be an inspiration to others. besides, he has at times criticized MMD. did you read the attacks Independent Observer made on MMD about those Chinese that walked scot free after shooting the miners and the state closed the case last week. by the way “PETTY” is not an insult, it just means MINOR, UNIMPORTANT, LITTLE or IRRELEVANT . i think you are going over the top
@ 58 Ali Mwana wa Afrika
by the way what would you say if 5,000 zedians created 5,000 companies that each had 200 employees with good pay in the next 24 months. would agree that would take 1 million people from the streets?. this is the point independent observer is making by being self-reliant brick by brick and create job for zedians by zedians. He has done it in his companies; others have been doing it before him and we need the number of job creation go up in the private sector. What is wrong with that?
given a chance how would you Bold Change issues? i have read both MMD and UPND manifestos, they are closely similar, unlike PF
100 Jobs? Mr. president that’s not enough, would be interested to know the cost of your trip to Chipata to open that Spur? You mean Town of Chipata has no Mayor? Or District Administrator? The cost should have been over the ZMK10B they invested.
@upnd 2011-2016.Dont know how been called minor, unimportant, irrelevant or little when debating profound issues like the wellbeing of the country one loves cannot be construed as an insult. If you good with such thats fine.I wouldnt use such language to describe anyone seriously debating an issue and as such find it unacceptable to have someone describe me using the very words. However abhorrent my views are to him/her.But thats water under the bridge.I will continue with the reasonable assumption that we are all zambians that passionately love our country. And just for the record,I am never ever petty.not when debating things that have to do with the wellbeing of millions.
@upnd 2011-2016.Like your idea about 500 zambians creatin companies that in turn employ 200 people. But just how feasible is that.can that really be done? You will forgive my copperbelt bias but thats the area I know well, hate speaking out of ignorance. But here on copperbelt, the most industrialised region in zambia, those companies and as such jobs you suggested would be hard to create.I will hazard a guess with the rural areas and say it must be even harder there. The problem with pipo in the diaspora is that you fail to really appreciate just how disfunctional your country is.And before you are insulted by the diaspora line I am including my own twin brother,he too just cant get it.How even the most simple things elude us.
cnt. The Sheik says that the 2million usd investment RB commissioned in Chipata created 100 jobs!dont know if that is true.Of course the multiplier effect will result in some more been created down the line. But that is my gripe,100 jobs! only bout 650,000 pipo in formal employment.that from a population of 12mill.that means that if half are of working age,we got 5mill unemployed.discount 2 million in the informal sector(and thats way too much) and we still got 3 mill. You understand why am dismissive of RB’s excitement over the mall am sure.It will take real imagination from those that rule over us to solve this problem. You,me and a whole lot of pipo are willin to complement any grz action.but grz has to act!
When is he commissioning the New look Manda Hill? This mall has been ready for a while.Could the luck of interest be due to the fact that some opposition leader is associated with Manda Hill. Also Kulima Tower bus Stop is waiting…
65@ Ali Mwana wa Afrika
Dude take it up with Independent Observer., i just woke up and found your comments after finishing my shift last night. my point is that we need to start trying to create jobs as Independent Observer said, you build brick by brick. should we all cry and just sit doing nothing. It may not be feasible to create 5000 companies, but a start is better than just talk
i also believe that when he said do not be PETTY, he was referring to the comments you made (God created the heavens and the earth! You call that small. More like the universe created there and the). I think that was IRRELEVANT or PETTY from the main subject and its not an insult – sorry I disagree with you
all I know that independent observer is making a difference. he has 5 companies in zed in excess of 300 employees and has given scholarships to his employees to study ACCA & IT in the UK. i know people that work for him. that is taking actions and not just talk and talk. i am also following his example and I want to set up a company when I return to zed end of the year.
actually the subject matter about job creation by RB is similar to what HH wants to do, by encouraging zedians to be enterprising and work with foreign investors.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR 2 BEST ADVICE TO THE GOVERNMENT TO CREATE JOBS.
For those cadres who like twisting the truth, RB went to Chipata to open the new Great East shopping mall, the Spar within the mall, address a political rally, and attend the consecration ceremony of the Auxilliary Bishop of Chipata which the Catholics invited him to grace. This is not to say that opening Spar is not important enough for a humble President.
51/50 INDEPENDENCE OBSERVER, Keep on motivating others to follow suit. There is nothing wrong with a person taking his hard earned money, invest it to create jobs and help the homeless poor kids have basic needs in their lives by giving them Shelter, Food, Clothes and Education so that they should not end up breaking stones or lifting heavy loads of copper to earn K20pin, K30pin a day
What you are doing is just about Zambia needs and this is what some NGO have come to do for Zambia.
Who knows from these kids you feeding and sponsoring to have an education – you may end up producing a Future President of Zambia. We have had presidents in this world who were brought up in orphanage centres.
When a Zambian helps the poor by giving them hope, they call it Drip Drip Gradual Change. I am not sure what this chap 58 ALI MWANA WA AFRIKA is talking about when he says Drip Drip Gradual Change. He is just an angry and frustrated perso
Hey RB, we told you Zambians could buy shares and be investors in ZAMTEL. You arrogantly said we were poor and cant invest poverty. Youa re so dull. Guess you think using your bottom
@upnd 2011-2016.Its water under the bridge as I said. And as I told Independent observer, his works are commendable.may he continue and God bless him more so he does even more. But the debate was not about personal philanthropy, but grz doing the job they are supposed to be doing.Creating jobs,or creatin an environment that where jobs are reallty created.Hate how all we and they talk about is GDP growth and increased exports. But never reduction in rate of unemployment and poverty.Still have not come across the official unemployment rate.
@Good-Times..You are so right.I am angry and frustrated.Angry that there can be so much poverty in all this abundant wealth God has given. Our ministers talk about billions of usd in exports yet little is goin to make it to the poor at the bottom of the food chain.Am frustrated because good intelligent pipo like yourself dont find this worthy of anger.Problem we that are slightly well off from the poor masses is that we are blind, emotionally at least,to the suffering of the poor.Do you know there are pipo who lve off less than 50pin a month?Families! And you expect me to be just cool with that? The bible says we will be judged according to how we treat the poor in our society.
cnt.And any individual acts like independent observers are commendable.and the spirit of philanthropy is one that needs to be really encouraged in zed.But individuals can never do job of the state sufficiently.we can compliment yes,but if that is all that is been done then it is not enough.Government needs to do its job.Thats why we pay Taxes! And the “drip drip gradual change” was directed at the little grz was doing, not the good works of a citizen.Dont go missunderstanding me please!
@upnd 2011-2016.You asked what advese I would give grz.I would say “you guys love the chinese and love going to china all the time. Why dont you learn from them instead of just buying there cheap products?” By that i will mean, why dont we emulate how the chinese government is serious about the creation of jobs.insentivise labour intensive industries.invest and setup and run, effeciently of course, industries that will soak up as much labour.Capitalism zed style has not done us good.We into 20 years of it and the same number of formal sector jobs that KK left is wat prevails,Just over half a million! How can we call that progress.Today we can comfortable with all this unemployment, but mark my words, one day it will be a serious social problem that will harrass and haunt us daily eg crime.
