  1. MORE BAD NEWS ABOUT ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT!
    From the FT today

Sir, As “Investors flock to Glencore IPO” (April 6) one part of the world at least is not overjoyed at the news. In Zambia, where the copper industry was privatised in 2000 under pressure from the IMF, the country has seen precious little return to the Zambian treasury from the country’s largest asset.
Even with the copper price at historic highs, the estimated $7bn of exported copper realises only a fraction of that in taxes due to long-term development agreements, made with the disgraced Chiluba government. Now ordinary Zambians see some of those same assets rolled up into an IPO and re-sold to investors at vast profit to the privateers who have contributed little to the Zambian economy.

  2. To add insult to injury in the Copperbelt town of Mufulira, where Glencore owns 73 per cent of Mopani Copper Mines, sulphur pollution averages between 30 and 70 times the limit set by the Environmental Council of Zambia and the WHO.
So, despite the good news for Glencore shareholders – no change in Zambia, no comment from the FT.
SO MUCH FOR BANNING OTHER OPPOSITION PARTY’S CAMPAIGNING!

  3. Mdala. Tiye ti wa kunkhumule awa a PF. Lets get even the little that voted for them in 2008 so that akachokeko na zero uko. Kabili Luapula we have got. Even if the stories in the weekly lost were true, the PF gain will never surpuss our gain. Chino chaka no chwe chew chwe as Maureen Mwanawasa sang, “PANKOLOKO” PF azasweta menso

  4. Entire President opening a KANTEMBA grocery!!!!! How many shops would he have built with K135billion spent on NCC?

  5. Gbagbo has been arrested by French special forces in his residence and has been handed over to the rebel leaders.

What a shame, why do these politicians cling to power?

RB You’re next, kuya bebele. You will not be allowed back into State House after elections this year!

  6. Be everywhere. Confuse the enemy. Let them sweat. The opposition always campaigns in five provinces. While your development programme speaks for you, go all over the country, your healthy and body permitting, and humbly ask for people’s votes. Let the opposition campaign on radio ichengelo and radio phoenix. Their pride and pomposity is always their undoing.

  7. It’s true. Easterners should not be taken for granted. In fact they should receive what every one else is reciving in terms of grants. Especially grants for water reticulation and other sanitation issues in the urban and peri urban areas of Chipata before elections. Viva RB!!

  8. You lot never ever compare what has happened to Ghabo to ever happen here. Zambians are a peaceful and civilised people. This country is not full of radicals like a few confused bloggers here who are always looking for a doomsday for this country. Please go out there and campaign instead of wasting your time posting threats here. If RB wins even by 1000 votes and is so declared by ECZ we will swear him in. If Sata wins even by a vote and is so declared by ECZ be rest assured that RB will hanover power to him. No Zambian will ever go on a street and die for a politician. We will wake up early, cast our votes and get back to take care of our lives while we wait for the winner to be declared by ECZ.

  9. SO HE CAN TAKE BAROTSELAND AND OTHER PROVINCES FOR GRANTED AND NOT  CHIPATA? WHAT A SHAME. AND HOW MANY TIMES HAS THIS MUTOMBA TWAICHE BEEN TO CHIPATA SINCE HE BECAME PRESIDENT? HAS EVER TAKEN EVEN A MONTH WITHOUT GOING TO CHIPATA? EVEN IF IT IS WHERE HE COMES FROM !!!!!!! SO FREQUENT AS IF OTHER PROVINCES ARE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY.
    WHAT A FAILIER.!!!
