Zambia Police Spokesperson, Ndandula Siamana-more police officers deployed to Mansa

THE Zambia Police Service has refuted a story carried by The Post in its Thursday edition that police officers shot dead two people during a four-day riot which resulted in the death of five people following rumours of suspected ritual killings.

The riots caused damage to property and looting of goods worth billions of Kwacha.

Police Service public relations officer Ndandula Siamana said no police officer was allowed to carry firearms as they went on duty to quell the riots.

Ms Siamana said in a statement issued in Lusaka on April 22 that the Police command deployed 300 officers in Mansa to beef up the existing local manpower and that no person was shot dead by police officers who were maintaining law and order in the area.

She said 220 people were arrested in connection with the riots in Mansa and will be charged with offences ranging from murder, unlawful assembly, rioting, theft and malicious damage to property. The suspects will appear in court soon.

And the Police have intensified both foot and motorised patrols within local communities and on highways countrywide during the Easter Holiday.

Inspector General of Police Francis Kabonde said in a statement released in Lusaka on April 22 that the police will not relent in ensuring that law and order are maintained in the country during and after Easter.

“We will pursue those breaking the law so that law-abiding citizens enjoy a peaceful holiday,” Mr Kabonde said.

He urged members of the public to co-operate with the police who have been deployed on the streets to help prevent road traffic accidents.

Mr Kabonde urged motorists to observe road signs, markings and speed limits to avoid accidents and show courtesy to other road users.

  1. The internal security lapses are being caused by the central command to manage things properly. In the normal circumstances and developed democracies, after a spate of violence in Mongu, Mazambuka, Lusaka and Mansa. we can see the fact that the IG has failed to manage the internal security, the best is to resign, Hon Mukondo Lungu as minister of police , should also resign and what is also clear of RB is to throw in the towel and dissolve parliament and call for elections so that he can seek fresh mandate.

  2. kabonde should resign,he has shown that he does not have what it takes to lead the men and women in uniforms.just remember the mufumbwe bye election incident.he is a shameless coward and its too much to expect anything normal from this cardet. The police killed people in mansa and we know u are trying to window dress. It will not work.

  3. The police and Rupiah are now feeling the heat from Western Province because of their brutal shootings, killings and detaintions of lozis who are now losing legs and lives.
Revise the police training curriculum and not just teaching them how to slap, where to slap, who to slap, when to slap and how to shoot.
If the police didnt kil in Mansa, who then killed those two?

  4. I believe everything Ndandula SIAMANA she is always right. Hope the ladies today won’t hate on her due to jealousy. If you want us to drool over you too post your pictures aswell LT ladies, if not stop saying bad thing about SIAMANA our true Egyptian( kemet) queen.

  5. Nice lady. Sweet to read what you are saying. Every word touches my heart. I believe you. The post lost the plot may be because the poof owner wants sata to be president so that he can enforce gay rights. But we enjoy seeing faces like yours. How can we start seeing men as women sure dear? No, mwandi, just keep up the good work. One day you will be IG and we will be seeing you more and more. Have a good day Ndandula.

LT. please get a full photo of Ndandula.

  6. As long as our SIAMANA was in no way injured in our relatives in luapula running “Amok”‘we are pleased. Cause I was going to vivuka if one cheek on her face was even jonkolad. Kwamunga kwa Chinfya mwe, fly by night witchcraft and ritual shenanigans; let the truth be told.

  7. Yes indeed no# 11 HH Sata, she is a very senior officer that needs to be Zambia’s first female police national commander, lord knows she has more creed that mr. Kabonde. The post used to be a credible paper until some sodomic loving individuals revealed their true rainbow colours hahaha. Viva change, but only viva true change.

  8. Madam Siamana, you really do not have to refute what the Post writes these days. We all know them as liars and are now just a trash can newspaper. We Zambians no longed take them seriously.

  9. Why is it that most police officers are Easterners, westerners, southerners eg constable Lungu, Banda, Nguni,Manda, phiri, mwale,Kajoba, siayakalima, Mumtemba,Hakatombwe, Moonga,Mweembe, Mwinga,Mwiya, Mwaangala, Hamwenda, Nyambe, Mubukwanu etc the list is endless.

  10. “Mr Kabonde urged motorists to observe road signs, markings and speed limits to avoid accidents and show courtesy to other road users”.

Kabonde was in Mufumbwe when Muzungu was killing innocent people after losing the elections. How come he never stated this then? Was it because their man lost so the killings were justified then?

About The Post writing that police shot two people. Well, two were shot and only police had guns. Only police were shooting in the air to quell the protests. What logic wold it make to have six hundreds of police armed during Kuomboka and unarmed police were people are killing each other? What if they turn on the police? LADY LIAR. Give us other reasons. We all know Zambia is now a police state. Armless police? What a lie?

  11. Ala telling lies wont help. If ZNS or army reinforcements shot the two late victims, police should simply accept blame because they are the ones who asked for help because the were overstretched and failed to contain the situation. Mukashana do not had more injury and anguish to those who the young lads on that day. The truth is a total of 8 people died during the period no more no less. Learn to tell people the truth even though the truth at times pains as you say it!

  12. #17 . Its better to tell the truth no matter how injurious it may be to your masters. We need peace, law and order. Police double up your socks this is a crucial year.

  13. I can’t understand why the police are denying that the police officres have not shot two people. The truth is two were shot as the post reported. Mwansa is my home and the truth is the way the post reported. The police are becoming the mouth piece of the Govt. The situation is very tense and people’s anger have reached the climax point. The closure of rountes into and outside Mansa is the true reflection of how bad it is. people have run out of foodstuff. The police need to live up with the stories they are telling people.

  14. Looking through some of these comments, I’m very shocked and disappointed at the clear lack of respect people have for our women! She’s very beautiful, I don’t disagree. But to objectify her in purely sexual (and sexual-related) terms is disgraceful. She’s a human being whose worth is not from her physical features. We need to respect our women. It would make me very angry to hear other men speaking about my mother or sisters in this way. Men, we need to change!

  15. As usual post lairs who will believe u all u ar telling us ar laiz,we even stoped buyng yo paper who cn choose to laid get out chke this out.viva real change.

    • It is confirmed that the police killed people in Mansa. Read todays post for the interview of the deceased parents at the funeral house. Dont forget that the police do alot of PR to protect their jobs

  16. people dont just listen to this police woman simply bcoz she is as you say “hot”. it is true that two people were killed. they were actually buried yesterday. the situation got out of hand and so the police had no option but to shoot.

  17. Please dont use Siamana on serious issues cause I wont concentrate. She is so distractingly phew! Wow! She is a bomb!

  18. Looking at the recklessness with which you use guns on unarmed civillians, you are now in damage control mode. Sorry that wont help extricate you from the shame you have caused

  19. @ no 22 Kitwe_boy I agree with you, that is the reason 95% of our comments of miss Ndandula SIAMANA are about how she is wise intelligent and of course beautiful. Only a handful of the guys called her pretty because in Zambia some people often interchange beautiful with the word pretty especially my Bemba cousins; cause the cannot pronounce the word( they say beauliful lol). We respect our women, I for one know a womans worth is her love for Jesus wisdom, intelligence and being a master chef.

  20. 10 & 12 she is still a dish of a buju, once a PC always one- twalinankwe pa Lilayi… She fits neatly into standards set by Brenda….good for beuriful women!

  21. A wise
black man once said, when the whites first came to Africa, we had the land and they had the bible. They taught us how to pray with our eyes closed. When we opened our eyes, they had the land and we had the bible.

  22. Please avoid passing comments on the beauty of this woman. Some of you are even married. The other day LT put a different picture and a number of bloggers expressed disapointment that she looked like alangizi. Remember the bible says beauty is vain but a good woman / wife comes from the Lord. Please concentrate on your wives. How would you feel if it was your wife receiving such mixed and confused comments. hand off ndandula and let her just do her work. Please control your passions.

  23. #30 you are probably right, however, the whites or is it huan hwa, china are hiding behind our own leaders who are fed crumbs to deceive & strip us of our birth-right wealth right under our noses!!!! & in total daylight!!!!

  24. The Post quoted the father to the killed narrating what happened on that fateful day. So, the police should say the father lied, not The Post!

  25. Just own up, the postmotem showed that he died of gun shoot, why lie about it. Kabonde should discpline his service or is it his force now before the elections otherwise I fear for our country in this election year.

  26. The father to the 25-year-old man who was shot dead in the Mansa riot has said President Rupiah Banda was not sincere when he directed the police not to “shoot to kill” because state security agents had continued to kill innocent Zambians.

And the late Stanford Mofya Chilufya’s uncle, Maybin Kabungo, said Zambians were now being killed like wild animals.

In an interview at their Senama township home during the funeral procession, following the shooting to death of Mofya on Tuesday, his father Moses Chilufya said his son was not involved in the protests and he was shocked that he was killed for not committing any offence against the state or any other human being.

  27. “Shortly after that, soldiers and ZNS Zambia National Service personnel started firing live bullets and I heard a gunshot. I ran away but my son was also coming home and that bullet hit him on the back of the head and he fell to the ground,” Chilufya narrated. “The postmortem was there today Thursday and the doctor confirmed that my son was shot with a live bullet. He was not even involved in this violence; I don’t know why he was shot dead. Since the violence started my son, was never involved not even looting a packet of salt for K500. He was a businessman. How can he loot another businessperson’s shop?”

  28. No wonder RB is scared of PVT bcoz they scared that reporter will report on wats on the ground. How can the police refute such a claim? Does the post report from without?

  29. I see why it has been so difficult for us as a nation to combat AIDS These commentators are just an inch of what is obtaining on the ground. Why is it that whenever you see an attractive women, all that comes in the mind is how nice it would be if she was in bed with you? There is need for radical change of mindset if we are going to survive the AIDS scourge. Women must be judged not because they are women but because they are human beings created in the image of God.

  30. What surprises me is how gullible some Zambians are! Honestly how do you base your opinion on the claims by the Police without having read the Post story? In all these cases about State violence perpetrated by the police the Post has shown us real people or relatives of the dead or maimed making accusations about the police. This is something we have not seen in the MMD media. Instead they have concentrated on vilifying the Post. It is a classic orwellian method. Attack and discredit the messenger. What scares me in all this is the st/up/idity of some contributors who have a borne against MMembe for the simple reason that he is exposing the criminality of their relatives in govt. If the loss of life at the hands of the State does not touch your conscience you better leave Zambia.

  31. Number 36, I appreciate your concern and if indeed she is lying she must stop. My concern was focussed on the sexual oriented comments on her as it was not only wrong but that it wasnt the subject matter.
