COPPERBELT Minister Mwansa Mbulakulima has called on the Catholic Church leadership to rethink the re-admission of Get Involved Zambia executive director Frank Bwalya in conducting pastoral duties after ending his sabbatical leave.
Mr Mbulakulima challenged the Catholic Church leadership to dissociate itself from Father Bwalya’s activities by not allowing him to use the pulpit for his campaigns for the opposition Patriotic Front (PF).
“I am a member of the Catholic myself, the former priest Father Bwalya, who is now Mr Bwalya has caused a lot of embarrassment to the Catholic Church and many Christians from other churches have also raised concern over his activities,” he said.
Mr Mbulakulima was reacting to Father Bwalya’s public announcement yesterday that his sabbatical leave which started in 2008 was over and that he would resume work as a priest while continuing his political activities.
“He has just accumulated a lot of embarrassment and the people will now start questioning the motive of the Catholic Church for allowing such a man, who is a full time politician to start using the church building for his fight against the Government which is based on hate for the MMD,” Mr Mbulakulima said.
Father Bwalya said during a Change Life Zambia public rally in Ndola, which was also broadcast live on Radio Cengelo, that it was now time for regime change and vowed to continue speaking out against the Government of President Rupiah Banda until the Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata takes over Government after the elections.
At the same function, Kabwata MP Given Lubinda announced that the PF would go ahead with the Parallel Vote Tabulation during this year’s elections.
But, Mr Mbulakulima advised Mr Lubinda, not to provoke the Government because he was not a factor and no serious Government official would be wasting time responding to all the rhetoric coming from him.

COPALA NO GO AREA FOR MMD
Why do u want people 2 sing praises 4 the MMD wen they are not performing? Being told the truth is not denouncing you.Jesus spoke against injustice, so too should our Priests
Mbulakulima.Welcome to reality, check the space coz change of government is here.Last kicks of a dying horse.
Mbulakulima… you must have respect why do you call this priest as Mr. Bwalya? and you claim that you are a catholic…. you have no right to ask the church to deniy Fr. Bwalya return to duty….. alimisebanya munshilanshi? you chaps in gvt you are eating and the nation is wallowing in poverty and you have the guts to baaark like that? you MMDE chaps are no better than parrots who just say what they are told without thinking.. Mwansa if you are a christian of which i doubt is it normal for you to be eating with your fuullish cadres while the entire nation is starving… read the bible and see what God requires../. Justice, equal opportunities for all..just buy more suits before the elections… Its a pity that you chose to turn a blind eye to reality just because you a political parrot
I think the embarrassment caused by MMD and its corruption is worse than any one person would ever do on the Zambian people. It is also embarrassing that you as a Minister and as a Catholic you have allowed the all entire MMD government to insult your church and its Archbishop Mpundu and other Bishops. How do you feel driving to church and taking the Holy Communion as people you sit with in Cabinet meeting spit and insult your very priests for political gains? Your concerns are truly misplaced and anyone who would listen and heed your sentiments must be checked at Chainama. Also, since when did MMD start picking priests for churches in Zambia? What else do you want to control? The air people breath? Gender of children born in your Mobile Unity Police Hospitals?
a good one my brother for this duull minister … tell him not to be partaking holy communion with the people he does not agree with
Ati Lubinda is not a factor kuti waseka … blogger listen to this mbulakulima.. no gvt official shud respond to him! have you seen how backwaard this man is he is actually responding which clearly classifies him as a time waster atise imwe …….. think before you open your urgly mouths? I was right to say these MMD chaps are political parrots who speak without thinking….period
Get it right sabbatical year(s) is not out of Priesthood functions, it is a leave which can be used in different ways: study, Prayer, Visiting and Working etc. Again a Priest can contest as MP(e.g in Uganda the have one), Councillor, Even as a President(e.g in Latin America a Catholic Bishop is a President in one country. and the first President of Central Africa Republic was a Catholic Priest) provided his Bishop agrees. So the activists of Fr. Bwalya are not strange to the Church, as long as he is not sinning. so to say that Fr bwalya has embarrassed the Catholic Church, I don’t agree, but you Catholic Politicians and the MMD (George Kunda, RB, and others), you have even committed homicide.
Another ignorant minister sucking Zambians of their resources. Another Oxygen wasting scumbag just like the rest of the MMD thugs.
Mr Bwalya is just a disgrantled guy who went to seminary school by mistake. Look at his friend Kabanda Simon who impregnated a catholic Nun and later married her. He is supposed to speak for the poor and at the same time lobby from the government unlike decompaigning the govt in favour of PF. Mr Bwalya will cry the loudest when PF goes to sleep by November.
You made me to go read the story again looking for Kabanda in the story, I did not find him. In what paragraph did you find Kabanda? I only found Mbulamano.
THIS MBULAKULIMA GUY PRACTICES POLITICS OF THE BELLY….HAHAHAHA…ABA MULISEBANA WIKUTE. VIVA PF
Who they hell do you think you can tell the Catholics what to do, Bwalaya has the right to do what he feels is right
#9 LOOK AT RB MARRIED TO A VERY YOUNG LADY….MY FRIEND,DONT BE PERSONAL
Bwalya has not embarrased the church, but rather shown that the chursh is really concerned about poverty, corrution etc. So embrace him even put the Catholics in good light
During the 19th Century, Catholic Fathers where very HOLY even when you are confessing sins you can really feel it. But today, priests like Bwalya are just sucking the Catholic church in terms of food, shelter, transport etc. Anyway, He is one of the CB Ponyax. Imagine dancing lustfully in full view of the masses at one of the rallies in Kitwe. GOD WILL PICK HIM UP ONE DAY.
#13 THE MAN IS LEARNED AND HE KNOZ WATS GOOD FOR ZAMBIA AND YOU MY FRIEND. YOU DONT NEED TO EDUCATE HIM. HE WAS ONCE MISA PRESIDENT AND RESIGNED WHEN MISA DECIDED TO GO TO NCC WHICH HAS TURNED TO BE A PROCESS IN FUTILITY AND YOU CANT COMMEND HIM BECOZ U AR EMBARRASED. THESE AR SOME OF THE THINGS WHICH HE STANDS FOR WHICH U CANT SEE.
Mwisho, what are trying to prove? It is over. 19th Century you went for confession? How did it feel then? What sin did you commit then? Iyo you really confessed and for sure you were forgiven. To live up to now! How old are you again?
AM SURE HE IS A BETTER KAPONYA THAN GORGE KUNDA WHO THOT NCC WAS GOING ANYWHERE AND ENDED UP CHEWING MORE THAN 250BILLION TAX PAYERS MONEY .
WE NEED PVT….COZ PIPO LIKE MWISHO THINKS MMD WINS USING CLEAN HANDS. THATS FAR FETCHED. MMD ONLY WON IN 1991.
COPALA, ZIMANDOLA VIVA PF VIVA SATA. Rev. Fr. Bwalya keep the spirit of Easter burning till we see the change we want
Ba katolika mula tenkunya mwee. How do you wholeheartedly welcome back a a childdefiler, violence pedler, Fornicator into pastoral duties?the normal thing was to disfellowship him, rebaptise him upon signs of repentance and then admit him as a mere member not Priest.Nowonder this ‘church’ has smears of genocide, conspiracies, sexual offences etc.
COPALA HAS BECOME MORE HOSTILE FOR THE MMD AND PF HAS GAINED MORE AND MORE POPULAR…RB WILL BE HUMILIATED THIS YR KUCOPALA.
Mbulakulima you are better off advizing your colleaguez in government to address issuez raized by Frank Bwalya. The Catholic have better and more important thingz to worry about.
#19 IWE DONT INSULT THE CATHOLICS LIKE THAT….YOU AR NOT AN ANGEL TO SAY ALL THAT…AM SURE YOU AR A FORNICATOR OR HAVE FORNICATED BEFORE. JUST DEBATE ISSUES THAN PERSONAL ATTACKS. YOU THINK YOU SO CLEAN BCOZ U AR USING A STRANGE NAME ON THE BLOG.
No. 19. Don’t just open your mouth and talk rubbish. Has Fr. Bwalya defiled your child? whose child? why have you taken him to court for those allegations. it shows how corrupt you are in your mind.
Point of correction Mr Minister, when one is ordained a priest FATHER,he remains so even in death a FATHER. Fr Bwalya is a man for the people. Mbulakulima you are a lukewarm Catholic as the late Bishop Dennis De Jong used to call some of the faithfuls and not an ardent one. If you are genuine Catholic just like George Kunda Rupiah Banda would have immensely benefited from the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church to better the living standards of the people of Zambia. Poverty would have been at manageable level. You are a Pharise would see white where there’s red and you are one of the foolish advises to Rupiah no wonder he has earned himself a trademark” blander after blander”. Repent for fooling God’s people
Let’s not look at short term gains for our political parties. This matter has long term implications for the church, which the majority of Zambians hold in high esteem and turn to for spiritual guidance. The issue here is one of protecting the integrity, respect, doctrine and sanctity of the Catholic church in the eyes of the people of Zambia. If the Catholic hierarchy decides that there is no such threat by having father bwalya, or is it mr bwalya, back in the pulpit to carry on his intended campaigns, so be it. After all it is their church and they can decide whatever they want to do with it, just like Mr Sata can decide what he wants to do with his PF party.
Some background may be useful to this debate: i. “Catholic Church priest, Father Frank Bwalya, has been put on a one-year sabbatical leave and removed from Ipusukilo Parish as parish priest.
Ndola Diocese Catholic Church Bishop, Noel O’regan, said during the sabbatical leave, which starts on May 1, Fr. Bwalya would not be allowed to serve mass, but would be free to express views on national issues as long as they were non-partisan.
“I have approved the application from Fr. Bwalya to go on sabbatical. During this period he can either go for further studies and speak on national issues for the good of the church and the country,” Bishop O’regan said.”
ii. “He said the Catholic Church removed Fr. Bwalya from Radio Icengelo as station manager because the Catholic Church was not in agreement with the manner in which Fr Bwalya expressed his sentiments on national issues.
Bishop O’regan said although Fr. Bwalya’s sentiments were in line with the Catholic Church’s social teachings, the church were not in support of the manner Fr. Bwalya was expressing his sentiments.
“He was removed because we wanted to clear the air that some of his personal views did not represent the church’s position but were being said in his personal capacity as Fr. Bwalya,” Bishop O’regan said.”
Mbulakulima don’t pop your filfth nose into the Catholic Church affairs. There is a boundary between the Church and the State. We are not in China where the State interferes in the operations of the Church. Fr Bwalya has committed no crime to warrant ex- communication. You and Kabonde celebrated when he was removed from Radio Icengelo and Rupiah called ex- priest! One thing I can assure you is that you cannot buy the Catholic Church not even Sata. The Nuncio has already stated the position of the Church on utterances of the priests, its speaks thru ZEC and Fr Bwalya is not a member , ni TOMBOLILO FYE. Why worry about an individual’s opinion on social and economic injustices committed against Gos’s people? Then you are guilty.
iii. ““There are no attempts to stop Fr. Bwalya from speaking on national issues because during the sabbatical, he is free to express his sentiments on the radio as long as they are not political but those to benefit the church and the nation at large,” Bishop O’regan said.”
This is for those whose memories require refreshing, ignore if you have a good memory.
this gay Father Bwalya..awe sure…behaves like a lunatic..!
ITS NO TIME TO BRING ALL SORTS OF THEORIES….WE AR FED UP….ALL WE WANT IS CHANGE.GO FRANK GO….
VIVA FR BWALYA VIVA PF
Mbulakulima Fr Bwalya is crowd puller because many people see hope in his rantings. I wish you had attended his last rally in Kawama, Ndola. You governance is full of hopelessness, check the road network in the Province you preside over, shame on you, shame on the tourist Rupiah Banda. We have seen your desperation and you are swimming against the tide. You thought the time stopped ticking just like your static clock emblem, not at all. 2011 no bululu. If you are incompetent you consigned to the archives. Remember most of you guys wasted valuable and scarce time parading yourselves at the airports to receive and see off the Tourist Rupiah. Ni don’t kubeba.
As 2011 goes to Kopala !

Fr bwalya is a voice for the voiceless, imagine what zambia could have been without people like the father? Mbulamano is just an empty trash of a minister, Bloggers, ignore him.
mr frank bwalya is not fit to be refered to as ‘Father Bwalya’ because there is nothing christian about him.he insults uses abusive language and rumours surrounding him of fathering a child with his former employee at radio icengelo have not been denied.let him make noise but the MMD will win this years’ elections.FOR THE POST NEWSPAPER,continue spreading your hate its normal for aethist and homosexuals.
@ 41..Real Zambian , you are off the line! Mind you catholic church is not a kantemba church so when you talk of Catholic Preisthood in that sense you are just showing yourself how dirt your mind is, Fr Bwalys is more than your Dirt RB in and out. What can you say about someone who is near you taking a grandson has his wife?
:d:d:d:”>:((\:d//:)/:):-?:-\”:-w;)
Mbulakulima is finished in Chembe. He will get less then 300votes this year. He has diverted CDF funds to Congo DRC in the name of construction a road link from Kapalala to Sakania near Ndola. The distance is 150kms. The question can you construct a road of that length for K300million? One way of stealing and the Auditor General’s office is mute about it. The moey is paid to Congolese labourers. These and many others are what Mbulakulima should concern himself with.
