Police in Solwezi recover stolen explosives

Police in Solwezi have recovered explosives worth millions of kwacha and a motor vehicle used by a group of criminals suspected to have been involved in spate of robberies that has rocked the district in the recent past .
Northwestern Province Police Chief Charles Lungu who confirmed this to ZANIS in Solwezi yesterday.

Mr. Lungu said one of the suspects he named as Manfred Phiri has been arrested and is in police custody.

He said four others are on the run and police have since instituted a manhunt.

Police have also recovered a Toyota Corolla registration number ACJ 4526 believed to have been used as a backup by the criminals.

Other items recovered included cell phones and a laptop suspected to have been stolen from Mutanda high school, motor vehicle lubricants and house breaking instruments commonly known as ‘bobojani’.
Northwestern Province Police Chief Charles Lungu who confirmed this to ZANIS in Solwezi today said one suspect Manfred Phiri has been arrested and is in police custody.

Mr Lungu said four others are on the run and police have since instituted a manhunt and appealed to members of the public with information leading to the apprehension of the suspects to report to the nearest police station.

  1. This is not common with People from Eastern province, the Phiris. Bamunamizila uyo Phiri, its supposed to be those name we are used to hear, ma plunder addicts tribes!

    • Don’t tell lies. Is it only the tribe that is in your mind that has got thieves? See it is Phiri and go and see for your self, he may be cominy from you home village; you will be ashamed. Phiri is Phiri not Pule.

  2. # 2 facts are facts, so stop hallucinating! You think it is a joke when the savage Phiri and his gang of goons attack your home? They come vicious with a vengence, they take your property and sometimes even rape occupants of the household they have attacked. Officer Lungu hunt for all of them and lock them up for a very long time! May Jehovah our God reveal them and may he redeem their souls even as they serve in prison!

  6. Solwezi is good town and the pictures really reminds of the place as it is. We used to go to an area called Kiyafukuma passing through the ZNS camp to buy some beans in the villages each time we travel to the N/western province on a government programme. It’s good to work in the government imwee!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish i was still working in the Boma.

  7. Where the stolen property found at Kenny Cool Trading? Why put that picture, instead picture of suspect or police officer Lungu himself? If I was owner of that shop I can sure Kabonde.
