The MMD has announced that it is ready to start receiving applications for the adoption of candidates who want to stand on the party ticket as Members of Parliament and Councilors in this year’s general elections.

MMD National Secretary Richard Kachingwe says the deadline for submission of applications to constituency committees is 10th June, 2011.

Major Kchingwe who was addressing a media briefing for the first time since he was elected into office last April told journalists that the Provincial Executive Committee-PEC will submit all applications to the party secretariat on 16th June, 2011.

He explained that this is after interviews and selection of candidates have been done at the grassroot levels, which are the constituencies, districts and provincial.

Major Kachingwe says between 18th and 20th June 2011 the National Executive Committee panel will interview the applicants.

He has urged women and youths to apply for the positions.

Major Kachingwe has warned that the party secretariat will not tolerate candidates who will try to discredit others during the selection process.

And the MMD says it has written to the Catholic Church seeking audience to iron out perceived differences with the government.

MMD National secretary Major Richard Kachingwe says the party has also written to the Zambia Centre for Inter- Party dialogue-ZCID to convene a meeting with all political parties to iron out contentious issues ahead of this year’s general elections.

Major Kachingwe who was addressing the Media for the first time since he was elected party national secretary told Journalists at a media briefing that the MMD will always use dialogue to resolve perceived differences with the Catholic Church and Political
parties.

He explains that it is President Rupiah Banda’s desire that this years tripartite elections are held in a peaceful manner.

Major Kachingwe further explained that the MMD is committed to ensuring that the elections are held in a free and fair manner.

And Major Kachingwe has advised youths not to be used by politicians to cause violence ahead of this year’s general elections.

Meanwhile, Major Kachingwe says the MMD has always stated that the Parallel Voter Tabulation -PVT is illegal.

He wondered why the party was being accused of wanting to fund the PVT system when it has clearly stated that the system is illegal.

  1. It was an L.T story on MMD’s PVT setup and even mongoloid senior citizen backed the stance.
even capitalist said it was a good move to do a bigger job than Sata will do.

now they all deny it again?

  2. MMD plans own K27bn PVT exerciseBy George ChellahFri 20 May 2011, 04:01 CAT
THE MMD is planning to carry out its own parallel vote tabulation (PVT) and intends to spend over K27 billion on the exercise, it has been revealed.
Well-placed sources within the MMD yesterday disclosed that costs for the operation codenamed ‘African Community Project’ include human resource, project equipment and organisational or administrative expenses.
The source revealed that the ruling party would spend over K11 billion on human resource alone for the project.
“Under human resource, we will have a national PVT manager, a national PVT coordinator, a national IT manager and 72 district PVT coordinators,”

  3. #5 the benefit is that it is an independent country. LOL !! i guess you meant to say Zambian – is that you will have a place you call home, where you can really trace your roots, & not just a number on some national register!!

  4. The 2011 campaign will be interesting. Clinics on canters, project delivery intensifying as polls draw near. Iliko bad. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  5. PF huury up hold your convention now (in June 2011 and make sure you come out of it more consolidated! Start campaigning like you have never done before because previously you contested under a system set up and organised by a decent man LPM, MHSRIP! This year you are contesting against a UNIPist RBish converted MMD who believes in using media propaganda at level of the defunct USSR, and in rural areas this propaganda is tough to diffuse!

  6. KINDLY REMEMBER TO ADOPT; CHANDA CHIMBA (MUNALI), EDWIN LIFWEKELO (MONGU CENTRAL), GREGORY CIFIRE (NDOLA CENTRAL), MOSES KALONDE (KASAMA CENTRA), HUMPHRY SIULAPWA(CHONGWE) AND EDWARD MUMBI (LUSAKA CENTRAL). IM SAYING SO COZ THESE GUYS HAVE WORKED SO HARD FOR OUR PARTY TO AN EXTENT THAT THEIR NAMES ARE HOUSEHOLD NAMES.

  7. PROSPECTIVE MMD PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES MY PRAYER IS THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO THROW YOUR K2 MILLION NON-REFUNDED FEE INTO A BLACK HOLE!! BUT JUST TO REDUCE POTENTIAL HEART ATTACKS WHEN IT HAPPENS, BEAR IN MIND THAT YOUR BOSS ON TOP IS A SINGLE SOURCING FANATIC. LAPGREEN, THE KENYAN NAPSA CONTRACTOR AND MOST OTHER CONTRACTORS ARE SINGLE SOURCED, MMD PROVINCILA CHAIRPERSONS, MOST NEC POSITIONS AND THE PARTY PRESIDENCE WERE ALL SINGLE-SOURCED. .FURTHER, THERE ARE THE STRANDED REBEL MPs SOME OF THEM WHO SEEM TO HAVE WON BETTER FAVOUR OF THE PRESIDENT THAN FAITHFULL MMD WHO ARE ALSO VYING FOR THE SAME. REMEBER THAT YOU HAVE PROVINCIAL DEPUTY MINISTERS WHO WERE SINGLE SOURCED OUTSIDE MMD. I WISH YOU ALL GOOD LUCK

  8. Meanwhile, Major Kachingwe says the MMD has always stated that the Parallel Voter Tabulation -PVT is illegal…………..it’s MMD WHO WANTS TO DO AN ILLEGAL ACTIVITY (RIG) DURING ELECTIONS THUS WHY THEY ARE SAYING THAT

  9. # Chanda, That’s a good one.
All MMD ministers will run away from urban constituences because they can’t win in towns. Instead, they will be fighting for rural constituences where people are not enlightened and corruption works well for MMD there.

  10. Lusaka Central,Munali,Mandevu,Kanyama,Kabwata,Chawama and Matero constituences and all copperbelt urban constituences, are a non starter if you are on the MMD ticket.
    DONT KUBEBA.

  11. UPND know that Sata has no chance. We will deliver the votes to MMD – if thats what it means to stop Sata. PF stop dreaming. The gound work is underway !!

  12. Well done ba Kachingwe. We now want to see who is who. To all our MMD candidates (MP, Counsellors) please be fast to submit your letters to our CECs. please people this year let us choose MPs who can deliver. Quality is needed and not just because of the winds as was the case in Lusaka and CB in 2006 and now your Mumbi Phiri is not doing anything. watch out for Mweembezhi constituency this, because MMD has a well qualified, intelligient 33 years old Choonga Shibwanga . O and all the people are just talking about him. He is full of quality and experience and he is in the Lukulu district of western province. He can not be compared to UPND’s Kasoko, Milambo, Shikabwali or Mukupa. We are going into these election a strong MMD ready to defeat UPND in Mweembezhi because PF does not exist here.

  13. Benard, do you have the phone number for Shibwanga Choonga? this man was my classmate at Serenje Boys Secondary School from grade 8 to grade 12 that was from 1995 to 1999. I hope MMD will adopt this guy for he is real. Please Benard give me his contact number and my phone number is 00255784626645.
