Reports that MMD threatened to close Hot FM radio station are false-MMD

Share

MMD deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu has described recent media reports that the MMD has threatened to close Hot FM radio station as preposterous, fictitious, irresponsible and immature.

“We wish the advocates or proponents of such lies had cared to apply even basic reasoning when they came up with such an article because their jaundiced details about the imaginary impending closure of Hot FM radio, beat common sense or do not simply add up,” he said.

He said there has never been any meeting as alleged where a decree to close Hot FM, was passed or sanctioned.

Mr Nyangu said to insinuate that the party’s senior officials and other named personalities held a meeting with the directors of Hot FM is unfair because it is just not true.

He demanded proof to show that the meeting took place and all the persons referred to were in attendance on the specific day and date mentioned.

Mr Nyangu also challenged the directors of Hot FM to come out in the open and set the record straight on this issue.

He said it is clear that individuals responsible for the fictitious article are bent on tarnishing the image of the MMD, both locally and internationally ahead of the general elections.

“Let no one be cheated, our commitment and resolve to tolerate divergent views be it from the private or public media is unquestionable. Our almost 20-year record of governing this country can attest to that.

We have always believed, encouraged and stood for freedom of the press and we will continue to do so.

All we are asking from our colleagues in the media is for them to be more professional, ethical, accurate and fair in the execution of their duties. Please, let us avoid fiction,” he said.

Mr Nyangu said the MMD takes great exception to the fabrication and demanded an apology.

  1. Other things MMD has denied doing:

    -Purchased hearses
    -Purchased mobile hospitals
    -Rigged 2011 elections

  2. Beaten journalists by MMD cadres.
    Arrested and tried Chansa Kabwela.
Ronnie Shikapwasha is on record threatening to revoke media houses licenses.
Private media houses’ journalists are harassed day in day out by MMD thugs.
At one time, The Post was raided and equipment were destroyed by abused state police.

What freedom of the Press is Nyangu talking about?

  3. I must say that anyone who cares to apply even basic reasoning will come up with such an assertion as it would be jaundiced, imaginary and beating common sense or does not simply add up that MMD would not plan to close Hot FM radio.

  4. Shishishishi – kapwasha is not happy with radio programmes on the commercial and community radios and will do everything to shut them up. The are the backward maneuvers we Zambians are no longer interested.

  5. The past 20 years have seen ZNBC become DeadNBC as them  The Times and Daily Mail moved from Bootlicking to a+rselickingJournalists have become political propagandists who will do anything that Dickson Jere tells them

  6. FROM THIS ARTICLE ITS LIKE THE GUY IS SAYING A MEETING WAS HELD A WITH Q-FM BUT THAT THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A MEETING WERE CLOSURE OF THE STATION HAS BEEN DISCUSS. SO THE QUESTION NOW IS WHAT WAS DISCUSSED IN THE MEETING THAT YOU HAD????

  7. What I don’t get about this story is, who is Nyangu directing his rage at, and who should apologise? The way the story is framed, the reporter didn’t even bother to find out who was responsible for the original comment. They didn’t even try to give a little context to it, and you are left wondering, WTF?

  8. I will also not be surprised if MMD denies that ZESCO is installing solar geysers in compounds where there is no running water just like they have mobile hospitals where there are no roads.
MMD govt has never accepted and taken responsibility for any wrong doing

  9. By the way….. reading the lead story in today’s post newspaper, I cant find words to describe my admiration of HRH Senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya of the Soli people. How I wish all traditional leaders had such courage, determination, fortitude and the interest of their subjects at heart. Hats off to you your highness. I salute you.

  10. Maybe the question to ask Hon Nyangu is whether HOT FM Management and MMD top brass at Secretariat did meet but the closure of the Radio Station was not the subject. So Bwana Nyangu has not helped clear the air. What was the purpose of HOT FM/MMD meeting?

  11. This is cheap politics, i think we should stop reading papers, because all stories are fake, today we read this tomorrow somebody negates that nothing happened like that, is it poor african/zambian journalism or fear of prosecution??? Nyangu even warned Mwakalombe the Chongwe DC that i will show u how powerfull iam …Just apologise we shall forgive u not challenging whether such a threat or meeting took place ..Mwadya Mweka Dollar (MMD)

  12. post and sata again, will not stop at anything…… i wonder what they have seen in state house to go to such lengths of deception and stupi.d lies like the big trusted one of 90 days? we better watch out with our ballots, i would not trust these guys anywhere near the national treasury, especially with those billions that rb has earmarked for our roads!
