Share

An 18-year old Zambian pupil has been honoured for scoring the highest mark in the world in the Cambridge ‘O’ Level History for Central and Southern Africa in last year’s examination.

Dalitso Phiri, of LICEF Secondary School in Lusaka, has been awarded with a prestigious recognition from the University of Cambridge International Examinations.

The Cambridge Top In the World Award recognises the success of learners who have achieved the highest standard mark in the world for a single subject.

And Phiri is pleased that his efforts have been recognised and has pledged to continue working hard to score greater success.

Meanwhile LICEF Secondary School Head Syed Ali says Phiri’s landmark achievement has made his learning institution and the country in general proud.

  1. Well done Dalitso Phir for raising high the Zambian Flag.Thats what we need in Zambia.Thumbs up to the school as well more especially his teacher. we always 4get to mention that.

  2. # Congratulations a Phiri, well done. Hopefully, you will develp academically and achieve even higher qualifications so that you can contribute to the Zambian economy where education is rarely applied in all decision making processes.

  3. What is the highest mark one can get in History? 100%? In Maths, yes! But History, I don’t think so!

  4. Good record but very pathetic reporting. What was the mark? What was the record mark before his score? What did he score in the other courses. Congratulations to him.

  5. ‘…scoring the highest mark in the WORLD in the Cambridge ‘O’ Level History FOR CENTRAL and SOUTHERN AFRICA in last year’s …’. (I dont know what this meansbut it looks like the history (or part of) is central and southern african history, but I dont think the whole WORLD sat for this subject – an exergeration, world yakulisha)

    • ba anti-politics, you are just foolish and stupidly self proclaimed inferior. why can’t a zambian beat the whole world. i wish you could take a look at my bachelors degree grades and those of many other zambians. we are amongst the Best. Congratulations Dalitso

  6. Ba ZNBC (and LT), i think the population of interest here is students who took this exam, not the WORLD please! – mulesambililako na college statistics

  7. Wise men came from the East, except the two Bandas, one from Malawi the other Zimbabwe. Congratulations my Thumbuka or Ngoni cousin A phiri.

  8. He is from the east what do you expect..we are the brightest in the country and we are loved and respected by all the  tribes.Unlike that tribe who think they are wise but are actually lazy ,dull thieves etc.Thanks.

  9. :`WELL DONE DALITSO AND THANKS TO LICEF SCHOOL.LICEFIS THE BEST SCHOOL IN LUSAKA IF NOT THE BEST IN ZAMBIA..DALITSO YOU HAVE MADE ZAMBIAS NAME IN EDUCATION HISTORY.WE ARE PROUD OF YOU AND I CONGRATULATE AND WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IN YOUR FURTHER EDUCATION,YOURS PARENTS AND LICEF SCHOO ARE VERY OF YOU.ALL THE BEST YOUNG MAN.

  10. Reporting yamu Z! Yaba! Anyway please brief me bloggers I left Z a long time ago. Do you people still write Cambridge School Certificate exams? I thought we of 1974 were the last!

  11. No Tonga Bull. We wrote Cambrige exams in 1978. I think they ended in 1980 something when Grade 12 took over from Form 5

  12. mmm went to sku in 78′ so we have big pipo contributing on this blog. So you guys who start yo contributions wth insults (majority in bemba. I wonder why) shud realise there are adults here oso, maybe even your dads oso read thru.

  13. NUMBER 17 ,ITS NOT TRUE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.LICEF HAS GOT MORE THAN 100 NON MUSLIM STUDENTS FROM CHRISTIAN AND HINDU FAITH. LICEF POLICY IS THAT ALL THE GIRLS STUDENTS HAVE TO WEAR TROUSERS AND SKIRTS ARE NOT PERMITED.. I N THE GIRLS SECONDARY SECTION FROM GRADE 10 UPWARDS THEY ARE MORE NON MUSLIM STUDENTS THAN MUSLIM STUDENTDS .IF YOU WANT TO ENROLL YOUR NON MUSLIM CHILD YOU ARE MOST WELCOME TO DO SO BUT PLEASE DO NOT SAY THINGS WHICH ARE NOT TRUE YOU SHOULD 1ST GET THINGS RIGHT BEFORE YOU MAKE SUCH FALSE ALLEGATIONS.THANKYOU.

  14. I hope there was no leakage involved because i don`t trust examinations conducted in Zambia, whether UNZA or CBU. Due to high levels of poverty, examiners and invigilators compromise too much. That boy must come to US be tested again. Otherwise, congratulations young man and keep working hard. We need to reclaim our lost glory, education in Zed has gone to the dogs.

  15. Well done young person! Don’t let this go to your head, but learn that the more you know, the more you don’t know and therefore be humble.

  16. When Superbowl is played the winners are crowned WORLD WINNERS so is baseball in the AMERICAN LEAGUE ( yet only American teams participated). Phiri unasebnza munyamatha. LT has never known to write. They would discourage a parent from encouraging a child to take up journalism.

  17. Well done young man.  Use that to inspire you to even greater heights. Though there a lot of storiez that do the roundz about some private schoolz with regard to examinationz, there are pupilz who are just in a class of their own irrespective of the institution they go to. Licef iz a good school, my nephew and nieces went there.

  18. Okay, even I can tell you mixed there kids with non Muslims. I have alot of Friends that graduated from there that are Christian bible children.

  19. Congratulations Dalitso and learn to retribute this triumph to your guardians, teachers and all the pipo that gave you the affirmative support. As to some line I read ahead, some fools still think about sixty years backwards before the republic was declared One Zed, One Nation. In a time where everyone is striviing for the unity of the nation, how do you surely go on advocating for such lunatic talking- the east is the best, the south is the best or whatever. You moron, son of an *****, must learn to be a real Zedian and understand what it takes to be one. You must forego such silly pride which never helps in the reconstruction of a broken economy. Silly bustard!! Hope you do not spoil my day.

  20. Well Done Dalitso…but Phiri can never be Ngoni Name…i.e Bandas & Phiris come from the same tribe…Chewas…i think…! manje apa so…Waphasa na kuphasa mwe…

  21. Ba 7 and 14.you dull chaps.when they say miss world,it does not mean your bad looking grand mother also took part.Ama jealousy. No wonder you can not support develop Zed,with that kalijo.
Ba 5.Licef is a private school they do write cambridge.

  22. #23 You *****. Does one need to come to the USA to prove that they are intelligent. So shallow minded indeed. Why look down upon where you come from. Are you parents with you there? If not why? Just because you’re in the USA does not mean you hold any academic qualification. I’m sure tawasambilila iwe. You’re the same people who are always dodging the authorities because of being illegally there.

  23. NUMBER 17 ,ITS NOT TRUE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.LICEF HAS GOT MORE THAN 100 NON MUSLIM STUDENTS FROM CHRISTIAN AND HINDU FAITH. 24. certainly like your website however you need to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I will definitely come back again.
