Go for VCT-Govt prods public

Government has underscored the need for
members of the public to consider going for Voluntary Counselling and
Testing (VCT) services in order to know their HIV/AIDS status.

Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Daniel Bowasi said in a speech
read for him by his deputy, Chinjili Zulu that stakeholders should engage in programmes that encourage families to go for VCT services.

Mr. Bowasi said this during the commemoration of VCT day held under the
theme, ‘’Get tested together, Get tested Today.’’

ZANIS reports that Mr. Bowasi said Government has continued to promote
the fight against HIV/AIDS through the creation of district advisors
office aimed at supporting response in the district.

Mr. Bowasi also observed that the provision of universal access to quality treatment care and support to all people living with HIV, care givers and their families.

At the same occasion, Japanese International Cooperation Agency
(JICA) Representative Shiro Nabeya said his agency will continue supporting the Zambian government in the health sector.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s renowned HIV/AIDS advocate and founder of Fountain of Life, Princess Kasune Zulu, called on all Zambians to take issues of voluntary counselling and testing seriously as this help
save their lives.

Princess Kasune commended Government and its cooperating partners for intensifying the fight against the pandemic through the provision of treatment and VCT centres across the country.

  2. Lead by example The Cabinet and all Parliamentarians should be the first to go for VCT then we the public shall follow simple and straight forward!!!!!
