Ronnie takes a swipe at loud mouthed sacked ministers

Information Minister Ronnie Shikapwasha

Chief Government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha says it is cowardice for all former ministers to defy the code of Secret Act ( COSA ) to begin to reveal State secrets when they live d from office.

Lieutenant General says the COSA is very clear for cabinet and deputy ministers appointed by the President not to reveal any secret once they leave the office.

Lt-Gen Shikapwasha described the affected ex-cabinet ministers as pretenders who lack integrity to hold public offices.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Lt-Gen Shikapwasha described former Works and Supply Minister Mike Mulongoti, former outspoken Defense Minister George Mpombo and Finance and National Planning Deputy Minister Jonas Shakafuswa as cowards to abrogate the COSA act.

“The Code of Secret Act is very clear on how long a person appointed by the President can hold information before releasing it. But for ex-ministers the likes of Mulongoti, Mpombo and Shakafuswa are cowards who do not have integrity,” Lt-Gen Shikapwasha said.

Lt-Gen Shikapwasha, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, said the act of abrogating the COSA is evil for anyone to go against but opted to be heroes just because they were fired by the head of State.

Since being relieved of their duties Mr Mpombo, Mr Shakafuwa, and Mr Mulongoti has made incessant attacks on President Banda and the MMD government as a way of expressing their anger at losing their ministerial duties.

The trio have publicly vowed to undermine President Rupiah Banda’s administration and have since vowed to be against the Government of the day.

Meanwhile, Lt-Gen Shikapwasha says President Rupiah Banda will announce and set the election date at an appropriate time.

Lt-Gen Shikapwasha said this is because the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has not yet come up with its final voters register for the President to announce the elections date.

He said it is not right for people like PF leader Micheal to ‘push’ President Banda to set the election date when things are hanging.

Patriotic Front (PF) President, Michael Sata was reported in the media to have said this year’s general elections will be held on 27th August.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha advised the opposition leaders and the civil society to be patient as everything was being addressed by Government.

“President Banda is true democrat who has feelings of the people at heart. The law allows him to put things in order before he can announce and set the election date. Those pressurizing him are just politicking and President Banda cannot dance to their tune,” he said.

Lt-Gen Shikapwasha reminded Zambians against voting for the opposition because the economic gains the nation has scored risked being reversed instead of moving forward.

  1. We kno for sure mmd and ecz are doctoring the voters roll before shrek can announce the election date,if the govt has enough grounds to take ex ministers to court let em do so,if not shut up shikashiwa!

  2. shikanyo what is your problem u want us not to know the bad things u have been doing with Nyamasoya foolish man

  3. The secret like Chiluba organised the killing of the Zambia National Team in 1993 in Gabon, just because he could not take the ego of there been called KK11. Chiluba wanted a new team which will not be refered to as KK11, the reason why they rather not realise the Gabon Air disaster. Shikapwasha was Army Commander at that time and Benny Mwila as defence Minister and they both know exactly what am talking about. We need to change government this year and start following these cases from 1991 up to 2011. There is just to

  4. What wrong did Zambia do to deserve such kind of mangwams to be ministers? This f.oo.l is so detatched with reality despite being a reverand. Shikanyo fimofimo shut up i.dio.t

  5. With ministers endowed with chicken memories like Shikapwasha, just what o you expect from their charade going by the name of “government?”. I mean, Mpombo resigned of his own accord and he was never fired by Kanishamezy Bwezani. Bwezani was on record as having wondered what could have led to Mpombo’s resignation. Mpombo’s departure from Bwezani’s charade was not a very long time ago but this vuvuzela master seems to already have forgotten and he thinks Mpombo was fired. Well, maybe Shikapwasha was busy “Kayopering” heavily when Mpombo left and when he awoke from his slumber, he was of the opinion that one could only be fired than resign from all the spoils of the office. What a big nosed f’o’o’l.

  6. Mr Reverand Shikapwasha, Hon. George Mpombo was never fired by the head of state, but rather resigned because the head of state wanted to use him to syphone money from the ministry he ws leading. Now tell us which secrets he has so far revealed. So all thos ethings they say are true except that they are not supposed to say them coz they are under oath?

  7. Honestly, how did Shikanyo–I like that–wind up as a general and ZAF commander and eventually as minister? We deserve better than these a.r.s.e.wipes we have as leaders. Zambians, let us choose better next time.

  8. Is it against the oath of secrecy to expose maladministration, scandals and corruption in govt?

Let the people talk!! Mr shikan*** …..whatever your new name is

  9. Big nose, useless man, empty can. You are doing whatever RB tells you because you can not see yourself going to beg from Sata money to buy a bag of mealiemeal. You were a general in the army, how did you retire so poor as not to afford a bag of even ka Pamela? What about non-commissioned officers, what is their plight if you a a general cannot afford to make ends meet? These are the things you should have fought for to better the lives of your foot soldiers in all barracks. But what do you choose to do, to be a blood-hound for RB big nose too. You are a disgrace to the Zambia Army uniform and cannot compare with Col Panji I.D.I.O.T “Coke” sucker.

  10. If the former ministers have indeed broken the code of conduct, surely the laws are there to prosecute them. Is’nt Shikapwasha being a much bigger loud mouth????

  11. Thanks EX SERVICE GEN SHIKAPWASHA,REPORT THEM TO THE POLICE.ON EX SERVICE MEN HELPING PF YOU SAID THE THING ON THE LAW.BUT NO ACTION.wHO DO YOU THINK YOU’RE FOOLING IT IS THE MMD AND RB.YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FROM CODE OF ETHICKS IN YOUR MONTH.THE LAW ONLY ALLOWS HIME TO BE IN OFFICE FOR 5 YEARS.COME OCTOBER 2ND 5 YEARS IS OVER.

  12. Iam shocked by the lagauge being used here by PF supporters. Are these the guys we want in Government in order to have change in Zambia. How can we use such course langauge and call it real change. If Shikapasha is talking nonsense, disagree with him in principle, but please no insults. Let us be civilised .

  13. Ronnie this is too little too late when the former intelligence chief asked LPM to release him the Intelligence Act to reveal all…LPM said Xavi was ‘free’ to say what he had to say knowing very well if he did he would dig his grave…why then didnt you advise your relative LPM? So today Mupomboz and the rest are ‘free’ and are cowards? Be consistent man otherwise just to let you know in 2011 when PF takes over the TAZARA matters will be open..umulandu never rots…you will spend time in prison…

  14. Arms Gate scandal???? I bet the deal will go through after the elections… without any tendering of course.
