State House dismisses Sata’s speculations on elections date

Share

President Banda confers with his assistant for press and public relations, Dickson Jere

Special Assistant to the president for Press and Public Relations Dickson Jere has dismissed the announcement of an election date by PF leader Michael Sata as mere speculation.

Mr Jere says the election date will be announced by the president after all logistics by the electoral commission of Zambia -ECZ are completed.

He says Zambians should understand that president Rupiah Banda is the only one mandated by law to announce the election date.

He told journalists on Tuesday that it is sad that the PF leader continues to announce fake election dates.

And Mr Jere says it is disappointing that the PF barred journalists from covering their general Conference in Kabwe.

He says this comes barely a week when Law association of Zambia LAZ president Musa Mwenye accused ZNBC of not covering opposition political parties.

He also says it is sad that the party that is aspiring to form government barred journalists from the public media to cover them.

Mr Jere says the PF should learn from the republican president Rupiah Banda who is continuously attacked by some sections of the media but has never barred any one from covering the MMD.

  1. Now that Mr Sata has revealed the date, you will simply adjust it to another date so that it can look as though Mr Sata was lying

  2. I am quite certain the Law Association of Zambia head was concerned about the evident bias in reporting than he was about the skew in quantity of coverage. The MMD plays this game all the time and sooner than later it will catch up with them. When the people complain about corruption and lack of transparency (as they did when Zamtel was corruptly sold), the MMD unresponsively spins that around and faults others. Similarly, any normal being can see that state owned media are a propaganda machine thus a waste of tax payers’ monies, yet they spin that around. These are both non-profitable and now non-contributory to development but convenient for MMD members and their quest to maximize stealing from us.

  3. Of course we never believed in Satan’s dates, he just talks too much. Sata thinks he knows everything.

  4. Just do two things please iwe kowwe/ nyama soya
Announce the election date what are you afraid of?
Disolve parliament as as possible why don’t you want to do so?

  5. Any news on Chief Mpezeni. I know it is not connected to the story in subject but its just that there are some rumours taking turns.

  6. If I was Sata’s adviser, which is most unlikely, I would tell him to tone down a bit with privileged info. You don’t tell your enemy you know what they know – instead use it to your advantage without alerting them. Wonder how it would be with state secrets if ever he became Presido. Obviously RB will change the date, even by a day and make PF look foolish.

    • ECZ is ready to have elections in one Month time. What Sata has done is to allow RB to change the date to September. This will allow PF to heal and match for campagn trail./

  7. can we have the election date be part of the constitution articles, thus it be fixed instead of the current situation. the status quo gives the president undue influence on the election process as he may decide to announce the date in the rain season when most rural people are busy farming and less concerned about going to vote.

  8. dont forget sata is a politician who says something inorder for other to say something on the issue politician behavour like journalists who provokes to get what they want.

  9. Why delay in announcing the date of elections? that is why we when we come in power will put in place a constitution with substance. the date for general elections to be put in the constitution not like the way it is. We need to plan well in advance. i donot want to be caught an aware about the date for casting my vote on Sata. I have right to know when i shall cast my vote. Mr. Bwezani i give you 90 days in which you have to tell the nation when the elections will be due.

  10. Ba # 10 Mashimba, what you are suggesting is what PF MPs denied in the NCC. At time I pity the level of illiteracy by some Zambians. Thats how Sata is able to deceive you.

  11. Ba Muchindu#10. It looks like 90 is the only number you PF Kaponyas know? Everything on your lips is 90.

  12. So what is I announce that the elections will be held on 29 September? We all know what a cow monger Sata is.. But for State House to be even responding to him!!

  13. This nonsense of keeping the election date secret has to come to a screeching end. We need to have the date included in the constitution so that those in power do not make election ambushes

  14. Sata may have been right baout the date but since Lupiya has a reputation to maintain, he would simply shift it to another date ,most a likely not more than a week from that predicted by the Cobra.

  15. Ok how long can you hide the election date iwe chi Jere. Uli chishilu together with your boss. You want to hold clandestine elections?

  16. Sata could also be playing a political game in that he is forcing H.E.R.B’s hand to make an announcement about the election date. After all is said and done, we should change this system of leaving it to the incumbent to announce the election date. Instead, it should be enshrined in the constitution of the land so as not give anybody undue advantage. People have already made up their minds, so please Mr. President, do the nation a favor and tell them what they need to know.

  17. Sata’s got your attention now RBish. You had better start packing coz u ain’t gonna be there for much longer.

  18. 2011 soon to be unemployed Spokes Monsters

    – Emmanuel Mwamba
    – Dickson Jere
    – Dora Siliya

  19. If it was true it was 27th, Sata will cause the ECZ to spend more money changing the date on the printed materials, as RB will have no option but to change it now. Please Sata, if you catch wind of the next one stay quite, stop playing monkey games, grow up

  20. This is the only reason I like Sata. He is truly a tested politician because whatever he says it shakes even the state house. Awe mwandi Sata ulicaume. May be he was just playing with their brains ba Jere bafilwa ukulala utulo.

  21. Ba in coming presdo, 27 aug is a saturday. pres elections have never been held over a weekend. pliz check facts or is it donchi kubeba rhetoric

  22. Why should a president sit on an election date! Election dates are not supposed to be a secret! Congo DR knows their election date. Why not Zambia

    • Thats why it has to be in the constitution which Permanent Fools (PF) boycotted.Who do you blame now? Indeed PF are f.o.o.l.s

  23. CHANDA CHIMBA thanks for tonites show loved
It.U have broken the myth of the COBRA .Keep on
    Hammering.How do some educated Graduates
Follow a GRADE SEVEN like SATA?How shallow
can one be!!Even a houseboy cannot run his bosses
    House yaba!!Ba PF Napapa.

  24. We lack statesmanship at all levels. Mr. Sata wants to be in state house and shall behave like a statesman from now. Leave announcements and PR jobs to professionals. What are those other positions and people for?
Same applies to MMD as well. President to be seen everywhere, saying everything, doing everything (though in this case it is Mr. Jere who has spoken, but it was not necessary- silence is the biggest weapon of communication). An illiterate mouth is always open, because it has nothing else to do.  Unfortunately, back home, these mouths do a lot of gulping of kachasu as well. Intellectuals speak with their creations and actions.

Same applies to politicians- the King rules, his ministers/assistants do the talking.

  25. Thats uncle Sata for you. He thinks he knowa it all. Am sure he has already come up with a list of who to invite for his swearing in, DREAM ON UNCLE!!!!!
