President Banda won’t be coerced – Namulambe

Share

MMD Chairman for Elections Gabriel Namulambe says President Rupiah Banda will not be pushed to announce the election date by some desperate members of the opposition.

Mr. Namulambe says the announcement of the election date is the President’s constitutional prerogative.

He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka on Sunday.

And Mr. Namulambe says it is ill conceived for anyone to assume that cabinet is operating illegally because parliament only adjourned sine die and has not been dissolved.

He also says the process of short listing parliamentary candidates to stand in this year’s elections on the MMD ticket is on course.

  1. We are watching. no wonder those who submitted to the awilo longomba commission want the date to be enshrined in the book not this cho chise ba pungwa

  2. Whats the matter with this election date business? Just get on with your campaigns. ECZ chairperson indicated that the election will be held by the first week of October. Even small children know that there will be an election this year. Just get busy. Ala ninshi ichongo sooo.

  3. President Rupiah Banda has fired Science, Technology and Vocational Training Minister Gabriel Namulambe as a Cabinet Minister with immediate effect.

President Banda said in exercise of the powers vested in him pursuant to the provisions of Article 44(5) of the Constitution of Zambia, he has terminated the Mr Namulambe’s appointment.

The President has thanked Mr. Namulambe on behalf of the Zambian people, for the services that he rendered to the nation during the period he served in various portfolios in Government

  4. #1 Right on. The election month/date must be enshrined in the constitution so that nobody feelz coerced into making political capital out of it.

  5. Even Namulambe wants to know the date of the election being an elections chairman. This is what makes this election debate so interesting in that even people so close to the authorities speculate. The longomba commission should have earmarked it in that constitution.

  6. What a lousy bunch of aresholes these pigs. Namulambe you cokcroach filth what you don’t know is that ordinary voters are getting irritated and frustrated with this bulls/hit nonsense. You can’t go on encouraging that toad president to hide a date which is for all interested stakeholders, it’s a dull strategy and it will cost you retarded monkey turds your whole election. You are one lousy gang of rapist-robbers.

  7. I think it will be a good idea to put the date in the book so that no one politicize this and that no one is caught unaware. RB thinks he is doing himself a favour nakalya bane he is just lying to himself.

  8. ACT IN THE INTEREST OF THE NATION NALUBAMBE BUT ITS VERY UNFORTUNATE THAT U HAVE ALWAYS PRACTICE POLITICS OF THE BELLY!U ARE A YOUTH WHO SHOULD BE ABOVE BOARD OTHERWISE DO NOT DEFEND PEOPLE WHO ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY CREATING ANARCHY DAY BY DAY WHO CAN NOT EVEN DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY FROM THE PAST REGIMES…WE AS ZAMBIANS WE NEED TO PREPARE WHEN WE ARE TOLD THE ELECTION DATE…IT HELPS TO PLAN U KNOW…

  9. Parliament may by a two thirds majority dissolve itself according to article 88 (6) (c) of the constitution of Zambia. Can the members do us the onus to pave way for the announcement of the elections date.

  10. Whatever, it will be soon enough. Unless afuna kuchita ka Gbagbo before elections even fearing the results before arguing. Or a KK “state of emergence” to prevent elections, no. You are going bwana, thanks for the sugar

  11. pleas dont delay our date of freedom from 20yrs of economic emancipation. We are a rich country we do not desrve to be in the “poorest nation” catigory. Announce our day of deliverence form this nightmare pleas.

  12. YOU CAN KEEP THE DATE TO YOUR CHESTS, BUT CONSTITUTIONALLY, YOU WON’T GO BEYOND 28TH SEPTEMBER, IN SHORT, YOU HAVE LESS THAN 80 DAYS IN STATE HOUSE…..

  13. Why hold to the election date. They are afraid of something. Their ministers are busy abusing our resources in various provinces pretending that they are inspecting developmental projects when in fact they are busy campaigning using gvt resources.

  14. NAMULAMBE, YOU’LL HAVE TO GO BACK TO KAFUBU BLOCK AS A PUPIL TEACHER…….YOU’RE BACKING THE LOSING HORSE…..MWASAMBA NOMBA NECHILAMBA NAMULABA……….MY ADVICE IS. JOIN YOUR ELDER BROTHERS, MIKE & GEORGE…..NOMBA IMWE MULIFYE NDWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII………..WAKE UP MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. It is quite interesting how we reason in Africa. In short, we really lack planning skills. I tend to agree with Mushota sometimes. It is really a tragedy that a minister can defend the Keeping in the dark of all the people of Zambia about the election date. For his information, some people would like to plan for some movements out of their polling stations since in Zambia we do not have a system of absentee ballot. As such, it is important that they plan their movements in relation with the polling date. I am glad I do not vote and I will never miss voting. I however accept any result since all power comes from God, the devil’s powers.

  16. I tend to agree with Educated loner, the election date will help us plan around ,maybe we have to leave the country.

  17. There is nothing wrong with the President taking his time to announce the elections date. It is done everywhere by incumbents. You Zambians have just become sissies, complaining about even things we don’t understand just because we drunk our whole salary with a h.u.l.e last night. If you are not preparing that is your problem, but as far as I can see Sata and HH are busy going round the country, so what are you all complaining about!!! You are the same people who refused to approve the draft constitution which could have limited the some of the president’s powers. Be mature and take some responsibility, you are bloody responsible for some of the nonsense going on right now. Let’s agree here, if you lose it’s not because RB delayed announcing the elections date. Are we cool on that?

  18. Namulambe is correct, only the Presido should announce and not from any pressure even the Parthetic Fools (PF) know that byt want ignore.
