Former works and supply deputy minister Lameck Mangani says it is questionable for the ruling MMD to accuse him of causing the Violence in during the Mufumbwe by-election last year.
Mr. Mangani wonders why such reports are coming out now when he has decided to defect to the opposition Patriotic Front.
He tells QFM in an interview that the MMD should have presented to the courts all the evidence if they knew he was the one that caused the violence during the Mufumbwe by-elections.
MMD Eastern province chairperson Kennedy Zulu recently stated that Mr. Mangani, during his tenure as home affairs minister, fueled the violence in Mufumbwe by giving orders to beat up other people.
Mr. Mangani says the MMD should have reported him to the police the time he was still in the party if the allegations are true.
And the Southern African Centre for the constructive resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) says it is pointless for the MMD to apportion blame on an individual for causing the violence in Mufumbwe.
SACCORD information officer Obby Chibuluma says the MMD as the ruling party should be made accountable for all the violence that erupted during the Mufumbwe by-election.
Mr. Chibuluma says it is pointless and disappointing for a party in power to exhibit such irresponsibility.
In an interview with QFM, Mr. Chibuluma says the MMD leadership should instead begin to transform itself into a positive party that seeks to use non-violent means of winning any elections.

Mr Judge please withdraw the petition for this election which is currently before court. The evidence is there enough so I declare kamondo as a duly elected mufumbwe MP. And the president claim he does not interfeare with the judiciary evidence is there now. Mangani is out and you put blame on him ne nsoni tamwakwata. All these cases needs to be revisited and bring to justice all judges who handled the petitions and refund kamondo legal fees spent on this stupid case. MMD brought violence there.
Mr Mangani should not be deceived by the crowd he saw on Saturday, most of those people just came to see how the serpent looks like. Dean Mung’omba had a similar if not more popular audience but alas failed lamentably (MHSRIEP)

No one is above the law whether you are in the ruling system or not, and if we (people of this nation) allow leaders to be violence, at the most basic and fundamental level, the trust of the people and then continue to govern, without a process for holding him/her accountable-what does that say about Zambian commitment to the truth? To the Constitution? To our democracy? The trust of the Zambian people has been broken, because of leaders who don’t respect and follow the law/constitution. The process must be undertaken to repair this trust. This process must begin with honesty and accountability to all leaders.

Lameck Mangani was once a Govt Minister of Home Affairs. He should the first person to demostrate tennets of upholding the rule of Law. He is supposed to uphold the Oath of Allegiance. If he disregards such legal requirements, then Zambians are yet to witness the natural regrouping of hardcore rascalls (law-breakers) under the umbrella of PF.The Mufumbwe saga went through the process of Law. In this regard Mangani is oblidged to consult and speak through his Lawyers if his name has been entangled in the MUFUMBWE VIOLENCE case. Sanity must prevail in Zambia.

The State’s Security system may never reveal to Zambians reasons why Judith Kapijimpanga was never supported by Levy for her Parliamentary campaigns in Mpika; nor devulge why RB later dropped Mangani from Cabinet rank as Minister of Home Affairs and Masebo from her Ministerial post.
