Share

AMY WINEHOUSE (1983-2011)

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her home on 23 july 2011.  The official cause of death will be made public after the autopsy ,but it is believed to be due to a drug overdose.

She rose to fame in 2006 with her smash single “Rehab“. The song is about an addict who refuses to go to rehab despite appeals by her loved ones. The song earned her 3 Grammy awards for Record of the year , song of the year , and Best female pop vocal performance.

Her album “Back to Black” was released in October of 2006. It was a soulful /jazz influenced album . The album was critically accliamed and went to number 1 in many countries including England and US.

The album earned her a Grammy award for Best pop vocal album and was nominated for Album of the year.

TEARS DRY O THEIR OWN

This song samples marvin Gaye’s “aint no mountain high enough”

Back to Black

The title track from her album.  Amy’s sultry video  is both beautifully and artistically shot in black and white and compares in imagery a doomed love affair with that of a funeral

Just Friends

Another good song , this one talks about an ended relationship , as she askes “…when will we get the time to be just friends?”

She was troubled but you cant deny that she was extreamely talented .

MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE

  3. I’m actually surprised she lived this long, she been wasted for some years now. One of the few singers out there who you can call unique. Rest well

  4. She was a drug addict and this is what you expect at the end. She should cleaned her life as a singer and model to younger people. I will remember her as a drug addict who refused help and a bad example to others

  5. Tribute to army
dear army. its sad to know that you will never read this letter right and i wish i wrote you sooner. your demise has left us shocked and disturbed as you were a marvel to the world.you have gone too soon because we still needed your sweet melow and thought provoking lyrics.you lived your life full of energy and vibrancy. the drug problem consumed your soul but i guess we will not be judgmenntal as we enjoyed the precious time spent with you,any way, sing for the angels as will coz am sure they like your music too

  6. Good Riddence. This is what happens when you dont accept help. Much as she was talented, she was a st.upid girl who was a drug addict. The society did not help matters as well. Her dad was pleading to the public not engage her daughter in drugs but the very fans accused him of not respecting her rights to enjoy life the way she wanted. Now she is dead, they are sympathetic and advise her dad to be strong. Thats it! Society has done its job and they are out looking for another victim to destroy thru drugs. Zed parents with kids in US/UK do not accept the nonsense obtaining in these countries to happen to your kids. I discipline and it doesnt matter weather in public or not.

  7. Very great post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wished to say that I’ve truly enjoyed browsing your blog posts. In any case I will be subscribing in your feed and I am hoping you write again soon!
