The Zambia police says it has not received any formal request to investigate FODEP president Dr Alex Ngoma for being in possession of a ballot paper at the Universal Printing Company in Durban South Africa.
Inspector General of Police Francis Kabonde says the police are ready to investigate the matter if formally requested by the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ.
Mr Kabonde was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka on Monday.
Dr Ngoma was found in possession of a ballot paper in the printing plant even after the printers had announced that no one was allowed to take away any ballot paper.
The incident led to the expulsion of Dr Ngoma from the observer team by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
The decision was however reversed with, ECZ Public Relations Manager Cris Akufuna announcing that investigations had shown that there was no ill intent on the part of Dr Ngoma to get the ballot paper.

Is south Africa within the Zambia Police Forces’ jurisdication I wonder? I
good ridence ZP
You i.diots. You fail to investigate real issues but too quick to seek to investigate this one simply because someone will get allowances in dollars. Stupid id.iots.
why allow such parties hw many pipo dse he ve?
Eish koma eeeehh, ECZ issued a statement saying everything has been sorted and that there was no ill intent, and now you want to politicise and flog the poor man!! can you investigate real issues in Zambia and please let us know what contingency plans you have put in place to ensure a safe and fair election with no intimidation or violence??!!
Ok but if it was an mmd official Tu pf cud hav bn shoutn d loudest!bt twalikwata uluse the devil has been shamed twalakalabakofye Ka ngoma Ka shushushu Ka Tu pf!
i now feel sorry for him mwe….
Iwe Chi-Kabonde, do you need someone to complain before you take action. Isn’t an act of theft a straightforward case for investigation and possible arrest? What if it were a murder, would you still wait for someone to complain. But pa Zed, zoona. And this is the man who is supposed to be incharge of the entire country’s police service!!
ok but now ba Ngoma nabo..mwenze kufuna chani kansi..its good u were caught..Chwelaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ngoma: Please save your self and save the reputation of FODEP. Quit Durban and come back home. Why don’t Africans know when to resign? The per diems the ECZ gave you are not worth the damage you are causing to yourself, the ECZ and FODEP. Return the per diem and come back home. Eeeiiish!
Can someone tell me why our police chief wear his hat in the office? Is that normal?
He always puts on his hat to hide his completely gray head which is as white as Rupiah Banda’s. He like Rupiah will rest and forever after September 20th
@ 11. Let me tell you that it is very abnormal.
I am very sorry fellow Zambians, this response of the Zambia Police Service is a clear indication that our Police Service has been politically compromised. There is no more Police professionalism.
Whom are the Police waiting for to request an investigation? Isn’t the report, or call it a rumor enough for them to swing into action? Are they not already mandated to investigate any such reports? One really hopes that they are not waiting for Statehouse to order them to do their work. If this is the case, then we need our own truly Zambia Police Service that serves the nation, unlike Police Services that only serve the interests of people we elect into government.
The Police Service is not a law court, which must wait for someone to assume the role of complainant, before summoning someone.
Dear #11. Good observation. I have a hunch it’s a show and tell thing. It is to show his rank. Senior officers have insignia on their shoulders, on their collars and as well as on their police caps. See the white stuff on his cap? It tells something. Now try and read the following with an Indian accent and enjoy!! (Well, no cap on show. No show no tell. Man sad. But man want to tell, so cap on he put only. Now you see because man show and tell. Man happy only).
Agony is………………..being turned from monitor(observer) to monitored(observed)!!!
And did you see those Chrismas cards behind his desk? This is August my man…but then, may be its an old picture taken during the festive season…by then, why display them so prominently? If I went into such an office for business (whether festive or any other season) I would doubt the seriousness of the occupant.
