Identify your assailants, Police ask PF cadres asaulted in Chongwe

Share

The Zambia Police Service has urged people who were allegedly assaulted by suspected MMD cadres over the weekend in Chongwe to expose their assailants.

Lusaka Division Commanding Officer Mhlakeni Zulu says police can not start witch hunting and that it is up to complainants to identify people behind the attacks.

Mr Zulu has told ZNBC News that that the Zambia police Service has received formal complaints through Chongwe police station that they should identify the cadres who allegedly assaulted them.

Mr Zulu has also dismissed media reports that police had deployed officers in a named village in Chongwe district.

He says the only police officers that deployed to Chongwe were those assigned at the MMD rally.

He further says the Zambia Police Service had information that the PF cadres were planning to block the president on his way to Chongwe and had to keep vigil.

Mr Zulu has also appealed to political parties to learn to co- exist as the country goes to the polls this month.

  1. thats why ZP stands for zabwino palibe how in the world can somone say a thing like this nowonder in ZP it’s full of OLD FO OLS.

  2. Police and you. A self confessed William Banda is there and you can’t arrest him? We will have to defend ourselves or else!

  3. What is unfolding in our country is shameful to say the least. I am appealing to all peace loving Zambians to maintain peace during and after the elections this year. It is very easy to start a war but very difficult to stop it. Zambia is already one of the poorest nations in the world and our people are already too hungry and sick to engage in any war. The government of the day should take the responsibility of protecting the Zambian people and not to be at the center of fueling violence in the country. It is not the responsibility of the opposition political parties to protect our country. Should anything happen it will be the government that will be held responsible.

  4. n way bwana its seems u dnt kno yo duty, its beta u keep quite ada dan removing usless words. cnt u do sme investigations. yakukola beans njomuvola.

  5. Sad that our Zambia Police has become a truly laughing stock. It is full of people who are best placed in prison cells for masquarading as a police service when we all know that it is mostly thugs in the pay of thugs and crooks in the MMD.

  6. Hmmmmmmm!! Really??? So if someone kills you, you have to identify your killer on your own, because the police cannot witch-hunt to establish who killed you!!! This is a new style police!!

  7. So the victism must find their attackers, immobilise them & take them to the police. If that is what is being requested it shall be done! Or have the police done some forensic work & they are requesting the victims to go & identify the suspects from some line-ups the way its done by civilised police elsewhere on this planet?

  8. The police have sunk to the lowest level. Their actions and the statements they issue are a reflection of the poor quality of the leadership. Our country is a laughing stock in the eyes of the world.

  9. I have always said here that our police officers are very incompetent, thats why its the most poor profession in Zambia, least to say its an occupation for grade 12 and grade 9 failures. How honestly do you ask victims of assault to identify people who assaulted them when reports are there and perpetual offenders are well known? Just go do an investigation and arrest william Bamba and his thugs if found guilty.

  10. It seems you dont get it at all hes right if you are assaulted then point the person and the police will arrest him or her as simple as that.odwala akonka doctor period

  11. Becauze we need each other now, during and after the electionz, it iz very important that we exercize maximum restraint to any form of provocation, real or imagined. Note that  personz in T-shirts/chitengez bearing ADD/HERTAGE/MMD/FDD/NAREP/NCP/NGP/PF/UNIP/UPND/ZED and the so called INDEPENDENTS are all our relativez in some way. Let us jealously protect them for that iz the nature of UBUNTU. After all, whoever winz genuinely, even by hook or crook will still be Zamian.

  12. The choice is clear: allow MMD to win the election through violence and rigging and Zambia joins Libya and Egypt; All major towns are on fire and RB is forced out of power. Or hold free and fair elections and Sata becomes the President, then peace and the rule of law prevails. The choice is yours. RB will not rule Zambia anymore. He must go back to Zimbabwe

  13. The Zambian Police must stop behaving like the Egyptian Police behaved. Let them learn from the Egyptian soldiers who defended the innocent citizens of their country.

The Police officers were there, and yet the bosses ask the public to identify their assailants? Chamanyazi!

  14. But aya ni matuvi ya a police. Very disappointing mmd police force. I am very annoyed with such behaviour of ba buju ba nsala. Lets vote out MMD naikota. RB Zwaaaa. SATA for president.

  15. How do you expect a villager to identify thugs from Lusaka as if they live in the same village? This stupid prick should learn to do what cops are supposed to do, investigate!.

  16. pipo pipo Are you aware that silvia wapamseu took cadres and post reporters to waylay bandas convoy??? chaps were positioning themselves to booo banda as he passed them but the mmd thwarted the plan hence the fights. didnt you notice from the post report that all who were interviewed were bemba and 1 or 2 easterners there were no locals involved which village was attacked whose pictures the post could not show zambians wake up dont let your lives be ruined by the post

  17. He is right . you are assaulted point out your assailant, so that they are brought to
justice, otherwise the police will go and victimize some poor innocent person ,this fighting each other because of party affiliation is stupidity , you ‘ll get one fool in office afterwards they forget
    about you

  18. Does it mean if a woman is raped, or robbed in a home, we need to go and look for the assailants? That’s kabonde’s doctrine at ZP. Shame on you!

  19. ba zulu don’t show your du …did’t william confess that he was in the midest of those violence in chongwe? what have you done to him.

  20. The issue here is evidence. Looks to me that William Banda is an easy subject of propaganda. How convinient is it that he is reported involved in soo acts of violence and yet no one has ever brought a picture or video of those acts. MUVI TV, Post? Its all hearsay. A Police unit does not start a case just based on hearsay or rumours.

  21. Why the F**k did you go to Police School. Is it not to learn to investigate and catch lawbreakers? Bloody clown so if I get beaten and don’t know who beat me up then chapwa? I thought the Police now have educated officers. Even if you want to shield the powers that be cant you choose a more intelligent excuse?

  22. According to the Post William Banda has admitted responsibility to the violence in Chongwe and has also implicated the president. Now can the police move in and make arrests.

  23. Where on earth can the victim look for the person who assaulted him/her! What is the work of the police then? Just because the issue involves the ruling party!!! No wonder Mr Kabimba urged PF members to defend themselves in such instances. No protection from the state police!!!!!!
