Public Service retirees in Mongu have appealed to the new government of President Micheal Sata to intervene in their pension salaries.

The irate pensioners say that they have not been paid their pension salaries at ZANACO branch in Mongu District .

ZANIS reports from Mongu that Pensioners’ spokesperson Nyambe Mwilima confirmed the development in an interview, today.

Mr. Mwilima, a former lecturer at Mongu College of Education, bemoaned that it is regrettable that the Pension Fund has to date not paid any of the pensioners in the area.

Mr. Mwilima said that as pensioners living in the financial difficult times needed their pension salaries to help them deal with family needs.

He said that pensioners were suffering a lot, complaining that their pension salaries were very low and that it was being delayed.

The team has since appealed to the pension fund to quickly release their pension salaries in order to reduce on their sufferings.

  1. This a smal issue you can even ask ba ka busha,Cobra will soon fire the NPF boss and his rants soon. That chap a ERB has to go 2.

  2. All your money if not mistaken was diverted to fund this Kenyan contractor between Zambia National Building Society where Elias Mpondela is Executive Director. People questioned the Board of NPF how they could release funds when pensioners were languishing in abject poverty, they stubbonly refused and went ahead. Time to answer is now. Pensioners, just push for the money you worked for it. Am sure Elias Mpondela and the board of NPF will have to answer and pay back to you. Time is now. “Money will be in your pocket”

  9. This is a classic case of how our civil service works- deplorable. The employers of these guys know very well when they are due for retirement and they just sit and wait for people to complain. This is the time that we need systems in place similar to the one they put for passports. Say on the last day of leaving employment the retirees must receive a check for all their leave days due and another 10 days after last date of retirement they must be paid their pension. We do not need decrees we need systems in place. We cannot have a nation where things would only work fast based on personality. Our politics are still heavily personality based rather than issue. As our democracy matures we need to navigate away from politics of personality to issue based politics.
