Nevers Mumba among 12 recalled diplomats

Share

Nevers Mumba

Government has recalled 12 ambassadors and high commissioners including those in Kenya and Tanzania, said Foreign Affairs Minister Chishimba Kambwili.

Mr Kambwili told the media that the termination of contracts for the envoys was “with immediate effect” but they would be accorded a three-month period to prepare their return home in line with their conditions of service.

Among prominent ‘casualties’ are former Republican vice president Dr Nevers Mumba (High Commissioner to Canada), former president Rupiah Banda’s cousin Agness Ngoma (High Commissioner to Mozambique), Christine Lambart (High Commissioner to Kenya), late president Levy Mwanawasa’s aunt Marvis Muyunda (High Commissioner to Tanzania) and Zambia Army ex-commander General Isaac Chisuzi (High Commissioner to Namibia).

According to Mr Kambwili, others recalled are Professor Royson Mukwena (High Commissioner to the UK), ex-minister Marina Nsingo (High Commissioner to Botswana), Albert Muchanga (Ambassador to Ethiopia and AU), Reuben Musakabantu (High Commissioner to Malawi), Dr Sipula Kabanje (Ambassador to Zimbabwe), Anderson Chibwe (High Commissioner to Malaysia) and Alexis Luhila (High Commissioner to Nigeria).

The minister said former deputy chief executive of ex-ruling party – the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) – Jeff Kaande, who served as counsellor at Zambian Embassy in Japan and TV personality Doreen Mukanzo, who was first secretary for press at the mission in South Africa had also been recalled.

Sackings of diplomats were expected after their April 2011 meeting where then president, Mr Banda, thanked them for financing the MMD and urged them to finance his re-election campaign. Michael Sata, then main opposition leader now President, rebuked Mr Banda.

“That is the direct Presidential directive that those diplomats should divert money from their missions and send them to Lusaka for his campaign,” Mr Sata said then.

  1. I think this is a blessing for Nevers Mumba and I pray he takes this recall with excitement because he was pushed into Canada by the MMD leadership hell bent on eliminating all competition of the top position.

MMD is broken and lost and its leadership led by RB cannot mount a serious assault on PF because they all live in fear of being prosecuted and are totally ineffective.

Nevers Mumba has all the credentials to revive MMD and unleash the young creative energy in the Party. He has the charisma, he can fluently speak Nyanja and Bemba fluently. Picked up some good Tonga during his 5 years stay in southern Province. And above all he has limited education that will make him resonate with the low class that vote in bulk.

    Mutati is just too corporate

  2. Nevers mumba, you should have never gone into politics! see whats happening now. you were far much bettter at the pulpit and your Zambia shall be saved campaign. Now you ve lost Dignity.

  3. I think this is a blessing in disguise. Nevers can be a good replacement for RB with Sipula Kabanghe taking over from Mr Mabenga as chair.

  4. continued from #2…Michael Sata has besically written a thesis of how to ascend to power in Zambia against all odds. You don’t need an complex education, like HH, all you need to to speak the language of the lower class. To be empathetic with them and I doubt there is anybody today who has this quality. And you have to be vocal from DAY 1 and not just wait during elections and the person to do that for MMD is Nevers Mumba based on his experience from the pulpit.

Nevers Mumba for MMD president and start giving PF the run for their money.

  5. I hope PF will not appoint cadres to take up these positions. In other countries when one is sent on a diplomatic mission its almost always obvious that they either served in the intelligence, military or foreign affairs. It always has to do with people who have experience at doing intelligence work. BUt in Zambia these appointments are a chance to appease cadres.

  6. No. 2 and 5 Observer, for you information, Nevers Mumba (will like his name) never lead neither MMD nor the Republic of Zambia! Some people were born to be destined to the pulpit, others were destined to lead, Nevers fails in any attempt to impress me! He keeps changing his position and is very inconsistent. Although, you have your facts wrong when you say he has more limited (less) educated than your Mutati. Nevers is in fact more educated than any leader who has been president in Zambia, but the Cobra has proved to us that you don’t need formal qualification to become president!

  7. @ #12 Nshumfwa: Be a reasonable person. Nevers Mumba unlike his comparative other has assumed the highest position ever held by a religious leader in the country. I think him being called back will be exciting for zambian politics. @ Observer, spot on analysis.

  8. #10 MB
You actually added agree with my analysis that Nevers has all the credentials that are required , he has everything to follow in Sata’s foot steps.

You say “He keeps changing his position”, was this not said of SATA?

You say ” He is very inconsistent”, was this not said of SATA?

It is hard for educated people to have consistent qualities, they easily change parties, agendas and appear inconsistent because they don’t have the academic slavery to tie them to a guru status such that when things change they can’t change. That is why academics find it hard to be politicians.

Nevers is not really educated , he just has some stupid diploma in instrumentation from some silly ZCCM college

  9. And all those asking Nevers to go back to pulpit please move on Guys. Why should somebody be born in one topic and remain stuck in that topic for the rest of their life. That is boring. Life is too long to just do one thing. Nevers is done with Pulpit preaching, There are many people that can take up that place and they already have.

Let him lead MMD. MMD needs a charismatic leader who resonates with the common man

  10. What about Darlington and Mawere in  the Switzerland  at the Zambian Embassy they know all the transactions of RB. And his Swiss accounts hiding money and the Gold Scandal. Can someone deal with them, they can even boost that We made money we re ready to go back home to Zambia .

  11. The false prophet is now in trouble. We shall see  his scheme now. Is he going to befriend Sata then become a member of PF. Nevers Mumba you are a shame of yourself to start with and shameful to the church fraternity. I am sure all churches are honourable just you few greed ones who bring the name of the church in disrepute. God himself will judge you!

  12. He has impeccably proved only one crucial point;’he’s worse than Judas Iscariot after betraying his own church for personal political expediency’. Walaisanga insala yapa Zed,uleonda!

  13. I think Nevers Mumba can be president.I never thought he could be but I never thought Sata would be either.Remember how we hated Sata during the Chiluba 3rd term saga.Nevers come and pump some new blood into MMD.

  14. Nevers can make a good president but boasting can make him lose. I remember
in most of his speaches when he used to say “When I board a big plane I was the only black
guy in Boeing….”. Nkulubonesha mukwabo. Us we do not like people who boast but talking points

  15. Wamona nomba ifyayamba ukukuchitikila iwe former christian! You now have impeccably proved one crucial point,”mdala you’re worse than Judas Iscariot after betraying your own church for vanity”! Walaisanga insala yapa Zed, uleonda mukamba!

  16. if the man can fail to sustain a simple program like “the zambia shall be saved” how can you entrust him with the running of the country, this guy went to canada mukushitafye utuma suit

  17. We wish them well. But the most interesting is nevers Mumba. Will MMD pick him for party president? Will the country pick him for State president? Is he interested himself in these positions?

Sata rode on the wind of change. Zambians wanted change at all cost! Also sata appealed to the “kaponya type” and the youth. What constituency will Nevers target?

Besides, as a man of God, nevers will be obliged to tell the truth at campaign rallies etc, which was not the case with Sata. Also, Nevers has to deal with the reason why he faired so badly in past elections. Did Zambians reject him? Why?

We look fwd to hearing from Nevers.

  18. Well come to dust in ZAMBIA Former diplomats, especially Ba Mumba, being in Canada?? I think you had forgotten what your country looks like, now is time for reality. Not looking down on my Country but I just hate those dusty muddy roads plus drum holes. I believe it is not an issue of resources but this complacence of not wanting to maintain / Improve on what we have.

What a sickening attitude. SATA let’s change our country as no one else will do so.

  19. Now Iam Convinced that Nevers Mumba can be president. Just looking at the blogs here, I see he has enough people who hate him. To be president you need a coniderable number of people who hate you so that they can generate publicity for you whether negative or postive , ask Chanda Chimbwii and Sata? As they say the rest is history

Nevers generates that hatred which can turn him into a popular figure ..Indeed Nevers for President 2016.

Last five years it has been Sata can never be Zambian President. And Now it is Nevers Mumba can never be Zambia president.

Come home quickly my dear ex-Pastor. Your Country Needs You.

  20. For those contemplating Nevers Mumba as president, I personally wouldn’t vote for him. That man is boastful, selfish, greedy and careless. The man doesn’t see beyond himself….

  21. #18, Pulpit preaching is a calling from God, you cannot go & do politics full of insults. I miss your preaching servant of the most high God. Come back to the pulpit & shame the devil.

  22. PLEASE CAN YOU RETIRE CHIEF JUSTICE SAKALA! THERE IS NO JUSTICE IF HE WILL AROUND!!! PLEASE PLEASE RETIRE HIM, HE IS CORRUPT!

  23. @40 you cannot mix THE WORD OF GOD with Politics, this man betrayed his church forget not? He further betrayed his party? Not that we hate him, but he is not consistent and easily jump ship. An opportunist with no principles.

We can not at all compare him to SATA. Cobra has been consistent and worked hard to get the post. Other than KK, None of our former Presidents worked hard like SATA to achieve their goals. Hence his passion to change Zambia in 90 days. VIVA COBRA..

Mumba should just retire before being embarrassed.

  24. Although Nevers talked about saving Zambia from clutches of the devil. Sata is talking about saving Zambia from nevers and his ilk.

  25. WHEN IS HE CALLING BACK THE MOSCOW DIPLOMATS?THEY ARE TOO CADRES.THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED WITH IMMIDIATELY EFFECT

  26. PEOPLE IN AS MUCH AS YOU TRY TO CRITICISE PASTOR NEVERS,YOU HAVE TO BARE IN MIND THAT HE IS A MAN OF GOD CHOSEN,AND ANNOINTED BY THE SPIRIT OF MIGHTNESS SO CHOSE WORDS ON HOW  TO SPLASH SOME OF THESE CRITICS,THOUGH HE MIGHT HAVE CHOSEN HIS PATH THE ANNOINTING DID NOT LEAVE HIM,COZ THE BIBLE SAYS SPIRITUAL AND BLESSINGS DO NOT RETURN ONCE HE GIVES THEM AWAY TO WHO HE WISHES TO,SO RESPECT HIM AN ANNOINTED MAN OF GOD,AND NOT THINGS LIKE(CHIKAMBA).

  27. Its a blessing in disguise for the man of God Nevers to be fired. With his proven good leadership qualities, should take charge of MMD leadership and work together with HH s UPND to offer checks and balances to the pompus PF otherwise democracy will be meaningless.

  28. I’m so happy Nevers is back! I know him and his wife like to enjoy a life of luxury paid for by other people. Welcome back to earth Nevers!! I told you that we shall see.

  29. Who told you that if you are a Christian or Pastor, then you can never get invloved into Politics? How else would you justify what Moses from Canaan and Pharaoh from Egypt(two different Countries) got involved in the (let my people go story in the Bible)? Think a moment about what happened between Israel and Palestines yesterday. All the kings in the Bible were Politicians even the Great Solomon. How else were they fighting each other? Think through that and contribute like someone using the grey matter in the head.

  30. #18 OBSERVER – and does Nervers Mumba resonate with the common man? Or your blinkered tribalism has pointed you to your tribesman? Nevers Mumba may be charismatic to you, he is not to more zambians out there who are now tired of mediocrity. We are splitting the MMD up into smaller parties. After all now Sata is in power.

  31. @ NSHUMFWA: You are visibly dull and blunt minded. Every American president or vice president usually becomes an ambassador for something, even peace or trade after office. You need to understand that there is nothing wrong for a pastor to join politics (to all you critics) A church is founded on the beliefs of not one man but the conviction of many to the message of Jesus. Nevers is a leader, even Mitt Romney is a rank and file member of the mormon faith in America! Stupid!

  32. Nevers Mumba stole from his church and when he was about to be exposed, he formed a political party where he impregnanted another man’s daughter and when he was about to be exposed he joined the MMD. In the MMD we all know what happened to him when he was given just a dyonko of being vice president. Ha! Ba mudala ba Nevers Mumba immediately forgot he was just an appointed VP and started exerting himself and even sleeping with widows, thinking he was now a president. Until one morning reality was brought down to bear on him just to remind him how useless a son of God he was. He was given a kick in the backside. Ofcourse later he cried at state house in a way that he had never cried even to God before – and he got a diplomatic job. Nevers Mumba is bottom of the crap pile!!!

  33. @#2 Observer. Nevers pushed into diplomatic service? The guy went down on his knees pleading for any job the then President could give him.

I am glad he has been called back and please Zambians watch your wallets. The man is coming back to his job as he knows he can never wig his way into another job. Mutulo nomba epela. Prepare for weeks and weeks of sermons about umutulo.

Indeed Zambia shall be saved! Uko!

  34. Government should also consider bringing back lower ranks in Zambian Embassies, e.g. Dorcas Chileshe the Press aide in Ethiopia. She is an MMD cadre who went because of her alignment with Rupiah and VJ when he was Minister of Information.

  35. no 54- UBUBI NGESHINA- being ambassodar in the west world is diffrent from this cadrelism you are trying to support. Those former presidents/vice prsidents take up these challenges in order to help fellow human being NOT FOR MONEY LIKE YOUR FELLOW DULL BORN AGAIN NEVER NEVER MUMBA. I THINK YOU MUST HAVE BEEN ONE OF THOSE USHERS BA KU CHURCH HE LEFT STRANDED

  36. Somebody asked why Lt put Nevers’ photo up there. The amount of blogs on him explains it. LOL

Anyway, leave the man alone. He may not even be interested in politics any more.

  37. Nevers Mumba is a cheap boot licker, Just like his friend RB. After a failing to lead his political party he solemnly fell for good positions in MMD there by even back stabbing his followers. My President MCS thankyou for retiring this hungry. I am happy to see this impostor put in his place.

  38. I am particulary happy that the tribalist / nepotist Gen Isaac CHISUZI has been recalled. This sill old man is the brains behind our suffering by introducing illegal contracts and persecuting Bemba officers for being ‘PF’. Wamona nomba chikaala ! You thought you were clever. Id!iot, we are now ruling stan yoko !

  39. The Bemba tribalist Nevers is back to dust and potholes! I’ll be celebrating his return at Mandahill. There’ll be a fireworks display..come one come all!!

  40. Ka Sekwila Mumba, I hear Sata fired him for conning God! Anyway, this is the chap who almost sparked a war between Zambia and Congo-K and how Kanishamezy could have appointed such a failure into diplomatic service verxes me deeply. You know, it’s like Sata appointing Kambwili as minister of foreign affairs or that obese wife battering joker as minister of home affairs. I doubt there was any other selection criteria he put them through apart from them being Bemba. Anyway, he will soon die of a heart attack at Scott will uproot this stinking tribal tree masquarading as a cabinet.

  41. Mwabelene boonse. Doreen Mukanzo, the time you used to read ZNBC news you looked like a cadre like Ingutu Himanje and Caristo Chitanfya

  42. We really appreciate what God can do to anyone. Repositioning someone is not denial by God. God has his timing for anyone of us. If you look at the president, he has been in many political parties including UNIP and days just after Chiluba appointed Mwanawasa, he formed PF and very few thought he could be a president. Today, we are all happy that he is our leader. During all those years it was time of learing and repositioning- Who knows- My Pastor has been learning and repositioning and until the right time, we all will know that it is his time. I pray that the Lord may continue to look after our nation. I believe that anyone can be a president as long the time is right.
At the moment, let us get united and build our nation with Love and Hard working. I really love my nation & God bless

    • nevas said God revealed in a dreem that he will be president, i wonda hw true that is but judging from the way things have been going for him, i think he was lying and thought he could i influence the zambian pipo to vote for him by telling them that it was Gods wish

  43. Is Nevers Mumba interested in being leader of the oppposition for the next 5 years? Probably more? It is quite a long time you know, especially in politics.

  44. Nevers is quite nevous to come home.. Canada was cool hiding place. Just go ku zed with music keyboard so you revive your church…oh and two loud speakers.my bad..incomplete advise..lol

  45. Ba LT why call those being recalled – prominent “casualties” – are you enjoying this like many of the bloggers??

  46. NEVERS MUMBA IS NOT A PROBLEM BUT THE WIFE BALITEMWA LIFE YAPAMULU UMWINA CHRISTU ONSE AFWILE UKUICEFYA YOU CAN NOT SAVE TWO MASTERS AT A GOAL

  47. nevers wats up next now my daer, jst get back to the church telling the people of mmd ichebo,
but you hav enjoy and wanenepa maningi.

  48. If I were Sata, I would keep people like Nevers away from Zambia. He knows how to debate/talk, he is fearless and intelligent. Once people start experiencing that they’re not receiving money in their pockets and by mistake Sata chases investors from Zambia and then no jobs and you have people like Nevers?- – – – DANGER

  49. Remember there was Isaac CHISUSHI! and the young Chanda CHIMBWI! Zambian Politics of sebana wikute!Ba lopa as if he is not general ukuya pa TV to make stupid political pronoucements shame! Now coming to the issue at hand Nevers has so many hits on this blog,he is of no consequence to the current political scene! even his own church they wont accept a coup,he should find other means of survival:(( power to the pipo Viva King Cobra!

  50. they are some of them have been in missions for 15 yrs and they are not on the list.pls call old people back home. its hope there will be a second list soon.

  51. Nevers has become talk of the day it means he has an impact on a country i dont dispute those saying he will lead MMD but for what benefit? coz MMD is finished the next president is either Elias Chipimo or Godfrey Miyanda my only president

  52. #55 can’t you make your point without insulting the Pastor.Repent otherwise you are inviting a curse upon yourself.May God forgive you.

  53. I see no reason why anyone can stand as an opposition to Sata. What he is doing is to clean Zambia for Zambians. Many Zambian have been used by these politicaian for their greedy ending. Time to see that every Zambian is benefiting from the natural resources regardless of their background, educated or not educated must share the natinal cake equally.

  54. Thank you for your comments but most of you do not know Dr Nevers Mumba.
Your ignorant utterances are forgiven but watch what Jehovah will do.
2016 Elections will be the best ever in the History of Zambia.
    One Zambia.One Nation

  55. Hello, i think that i noticed you visited my website thus i came to go back the want?.I’m trying to in finding things to enhance my web site!I suppose its ok to make use of a few of your concepts!!
