Government says fifty Zambian diplomats have been recalled from September 2011 to date.

Responding to a question by Mpongwe Member of Parliament Gabriel Namulambe who wanted to know how many Zambian Diplomats serving abroad have been recalled by the Government and how much money has been spent in repatriation fees and gratuities as a result, Acting foreign affairs minister Dr Joseph Kasonde revealed that K11.9 billion has been set aside for repatriation.

Dr Kasonde also revealed that no political cadres have been appointed into Foreign Service during the same period.

He says diplomatic appointments have been made on the basis of requisite qualifications and that those appointed are still undergoing appointment formalities.

The minister further explained that there is currently no government policy with regards to sending political cadres into Foreign Service.

  1. this is far less than what these corrupt guys helped MMD to steal for its campaigns through their embassies. so i still support to have them recalled.

  2. # 1 You are so dull! Some cheap in Kalingalinga masquerading to be in the UK. Get a life. If you have chosen to be British why are you so interesting in what is obtaining in Zambia? The MP did not ask whether a lot of money was used. He asked how many diplomats were recalled and how much was spent. If you had money you would be busy managing it. But because you are a frustrated chameleon you want to spoil everybody else’s mood by posting irritating blogs. Get out of dreamland and do something with your life. Lazy fool! Sha! You are a shame to the Lozi intellect.

  3. Anyway thats nothing compared to $4 million paid to Mr Chikwanda to ‘renovate’ state house when nothing was wrong with it.

  4. this has always been the trend whwnever there is a change of govt. what we need to put in place to deter such excesses is the constitution. only then will we see career diplomats in all missions than what is obtaining now. little wonder you have fake diplomats cum pastors like nevers mumba who is nothing but a chancer, trying to blackmail govt on his pending cases of misappriopration. goodness me.

  5. Going by events of tribal appointments from state house and failed promises to PF supporters, recalling of 50 diplomats(non Bembas) will create room to reward kaponyas like Obscene Chibwela Chansa and husband Henry Ngilazi destined for Malawi, Mpombo and Mwakalombwe (the traitor) Nigeria and Mozambique respectively and many more. However, true kaponyas like Italian Bunga Bunga (Original) will go beserk when their names are not among the appointed ones. The management of our embassies on partisan basis demean our effectiveness of representation. We all know Mpombo what diplomacy remains in him let alone Kabwilili. Diplomatic duties is not the same as party politics and appointing authorities need to bear that in mind as some officials in this just can’t get it & worse Zambia suffers.

  6. Allegic to corruption! when Chikwanda’s company Apollo Ltd was paid $4 million for rennovating state house that did not need any rennovations. So what is K11.1 billion for recalled diplomats an expense of your own making to meet PF insincererity to its supporters? vis-as-vi $4 million to one single sourced beneficially.

  7. At least Banda appointed party cadres from across the country, with Zondwe it is worse. Now in all Zambian embassies it is “iwe niwe nani?” It is northern alliance Janjaweedos everywhere. I do not think there is any “One Zambia one Nation” left anymore, we are destined to be the first Southern African country to disintegrate on ethnic lines and whoever cannot see this are behaving like the god damn Ostrich. And by the way, where is Guy Scott for Chikwanda to act as President? I hope he is not going to State House to shower with a Sangoma like Miyanda used to whenever Chiluba was away, bumfwiti too much mu ziko awe sure!

  8. Now, the minister was ‘clever'(in a PF sense) by not telling us how much was spent on sending the new cadres hwo have replaced the fired.

  9. K11.9 billion is £1.7 million and for 50 families it works out on average of £34, 000 per family. Take away cargo transportation, air fares etc, one is left with nothing much after serving the country for so many years. Is there any wonder why they all try to make as much while they are at it? These jobs that lack security of tenure are the very cause of corruption.

  10. #4 President Sata – Please let us know your source of $4M. Scaremongering and lying are illegal if you did not know. Learn to be factual and you will earn respect

  11. Looks like Zed has made the list on diamond jubilee tour. No queen but princess royal. There we go. Some work for all the experienced diplomats twiddling thumbs. Note to self. Make union jack in Zed colours for the flag wavers. Could also join national dance troupe. I’m sorry the point of this article is… people come and go. It all costs money. Next ones in state house will do the same in the future. It is what it is.

  12. DR SIMON MITI REAPPOINTED AS AMABASSADOR?

All those 12 workers, who were sent on suspension (together with Dr Miti), have now been CLEARED And Dr Mwaba Ps MoH has handed over letters to these people and a few have started working within MoH, while the majority have been transferred to other Ministries.

Kapoko and others are still being prosecuted in court. I am a Lawyer, and I think Dr Miti has undergone the due process of the Law for over two years and has been a very credible State witness and therefore deserves to be reappointed as Ambassador, without fear or favor but for justice to prevail. Congrats to all Cleared workers and congrats Ambassador Miti.

  13. Oh, that’s News. Does it mean SATA has now received the CLEARANCE report from Cabinet office ie dr Kanganja and the investigating wings? If so then CONGRATS Ambassador Miti. You deserve it and shame to those people who are so petty and jealousy about your success!!

Bravo HE Sata and Bravo Ambassador Miti!!
