FAZ Said Sorry To GRZ Says Sports Council

Share

Sport Council of Zambia today disclosed that Faz had officially apologized to government over the way they fired Dario Bonetti.
Sports minister Fackson Shamenda two months ago indicated that government was not happy with the way Bonetti was fired that led to the subsequent rehiring of Herve Renard.

Bonetti was fired just 48 hours after qualifying Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup.

NSCZ spokesman Smart Mwitwa made the disclosure at a press briefing on the Zambia Amateur Boxing Federation AGM impasse held at NASDEC on Thursday morning.

“We have a letter from the Football Association of Zambia in which they apologized for having not consulted the Nationals Sports Council of Zambia and Government as regard to the firing of the national coach as well as the employment of the new coach,” Mwitwa said.

“And I think you are very much aware that is what led to the tripartite meeting that we held with the honorable minister at which all the matters were resolved and we are now geared to working together.”

The meeting held on December 19 at the ministry of sport in Lusaka saw Shamenda recind his decision and committed to Government helping pay Renards salary.

  1. FAZ has the mandate to fire and hire coaches! They have a mandate to run football in Zambia! Please let them run the game without undue pressure! NSCZ we have no confidence in you because of your failure to distinguish between sense and nonsense by dancing to the tune of who knows who when you illegally registered another body of football to appease losers! Please do not confuse the lads as they go to AFCON!

  2. I hope this doesn’t strengthen Bonetti’s case at FIFA. But NSCZ should be scrapped altogether. They are just another speciality in red tape. FAZ must work seriously on self-financing and it can be done. Football can pay for itself with the right organisation. The Angolan Football League are boasting that they are self-sufficient. Even Nigeria’s FA claims so

  3. @1 If it has the mandate hire and fire, then why was it sitting on the fence on the Bonnetti issue until RB left State House….heads should also roll at FAZ!!!

  4. This country is quickly becoming a joke. What has the government got to with hiring and firing of football coaches? Since PF assumed power, it looks like everybody has been queing up to render their apologies. Pathetic, morally bankrupt Zambians. You are a disgrace if you cannot stand by your beliefs. I supposed come 2016 if a new party is voted into power, the same will happen…que up to apologize to Chipimo or HH or even MMD. You shameless and spinelss job seekers.

  5. # 7 you speak sense.long quees at state house to apologise to have rendered constructive critiscism! its shamefull and a disgrace.Let FAZ do its work and intimidation and interference.

  6. # 1.7.8 imwe baiche muli bamano sana… ba PF nabena ngaba ambako ukwikata kuli bola bakayanga nga banabo. We are happy with the way football is being run, what else is their to say? NSCZ registered another football body illegally after MMD lost they U-turned? yaba you think sitimizibani? Timizibani imwe bakamupepete…Ma Rubish!!!

  7. 5 and 6 out of topic. to hire and fire does not need consultation with the government if the budget is already there. you consult the government on terms of condition for the coach not the actual hiring and firing. working together. consultation can also be there for logistics like comping sponsorship. monitoring of election for FAZ presidents etc. This is a governing body of football not sports all they need is to update the NSCZ that it then the NSCZ consolidates reports for all sporting disciplines to Sports ministry.
