President Michael Sata fates diplomats

President Michael Sata

President Michael Sata has called for strengthened cooperation with foreign partners this year and in the future.

President Sata says he firmly believes that no country can achieve its aspirations in isolation.

The President was speaking in Lusaka this afternoon during the annual cocktail organized for the diplomatic community in Zambia.

Mr. Sata says it is worth noting that democracy in any country is a pre-condition to social and economic development.

He adds that it is for this reason that the people of Zambia remain highly indebted to the international community for its valuable support rendered to the electoral process.

Mr. Sata says the Patriotic Front government will within the sixth national development plan;focus on five core programmes stipulated in its manifesto namely; education development, health services, agricultural development, local government and housing development and the fight against corruption.

He says he is confident that these key economic drivers will create multiplier effects and propel the development of the country.

President Sata has since committed governments continuous participation at all regional and international meetings that will be held to look at various important issues affecting the world.

And in a vote of thanks, dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ditlhabi Oliphant says cooperating partners are happy with the manner in which the government has embraced foreign direct investment as a means to create employment and contribute to the economic empowerment of the Zambians.

  1. The five core programmes are spot on. MMD wouldn’t have included corruption that’s why they’re not in power. Viva PF

  2. Thank you Mr President, as civil servants, we are behind you and shall support you to ensure Zambia improves for better

  3. AFTER THEY HAVE ATTENDED ALL THESE MEETINGS WE WANT TO SEE ACTION NOT JUST GETTING COMMISSIONS AND ALLOWANCES FOR NOTHING OTHERWISE THIS IS ALSO CORRUPTION. PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA WANT TO SEE DEVELOPMENT IN ALL PROVINCES NOT JUST MUCHINGA,NORTHERN AND LUAPULA. AFTER ALL THE COPPER AND TAX PAYERS DO NOT COME FROM THESE PROVINCES ONLY

  4. 14th April 2006

‘Sata had written to the vice president requesting him to convene the cabinet within three days to discuss Mwanawasa’s health or he will take the matter to court.’ This is after the late suffered a minor stroke. What goes round…Yes.

  5. THIS SAD SITUATION BECAUSE PF GOVERNMENT HAS NOT INCLUDED JOB CREATION AS ONE OF THEIR CORE PROGRAMMES. IT CAN NOT BE ASSUMED THAT BY CARRYING OUT THOSE CHOSEN CORE PROGRAMMES JOBS WILL BE CREATED, IT HAS TO BE MENTIONED AND SEEN TO BE DONE. SO ALL THE SUPPORTERS MUST JUST CLOSE SOME LANES OF CAIRO ROAD TO RAISE SOME MONEY BY SELLING IN MAKE SHIFT STORES.

  6. Stop this street vending foolishness. plan to eradicate shanty compounds. Build nice modern houses and ask the current tenants of the land to buy or rent them or be compensated for them to build elsewhere.

  7. Sata’ s vision is nice and fits Zambians? This is the reason why we voted him into power because he is a good listener. The five core targets are real and I am sure our President will achieve them in five years. RB made a very big mistake by compromising corruption with his vision. Viva PF

  8. #10: Kashimani: development is always synonymous to Job creation. When you develop, jobs are automatically created as new infrastructure would need to be manned by people. For example when you build a new clinic, you expect to employ new nurses, doctors and other support workers to ensure that the clinic functions. Just my thought

    • Those a pretty good. Not the most prtoable solution, but handy if you have lots of drives around I suppose, or if you’ve got one of those at either end of a regular commute.Could bare naked hard drives become the next prtoable digital media??

  9. #15: John; not quite right, jobs dont automatically come with development, thats why experts are now talking of jobless growth (i.e. a phenommenom where economy growing but few jobs created). Building clinics and schools does not create real jobs or many jobs compared to a factory fpr instance. That is why manufacturing and industrialisation (big or small-scale) is very important to Zambia and the government should put measures to ensure a favourable enviroment for this to take off. It is jobs from these that have a multiplier effect i.e. creating more jobs e.g. for teachers, doctors, nurses and other support workers

  10. When are you having a cocktail party or luncheon for your supporters? the young people who voted for you and danced in the streets?

  11. Careful LT you will insult the presido with this English. You could have just said ” mulyo ku state house”.
